Entertainment / Re: Anime recommendations?

Have you tried Naruto or Bleach, they aren't as great as most of the other animes mentioned in this discussion but if you're desperate for a new show I'd try one or the other.

Of all my collecting obsessions my biggest is magic the gathering cards, from Invasion 1999 to the present (Return to Ravnica). I used to collect pokemon cards but they were all stolen, and I quit collecting yugioh cards about a year ago, the game wasn't fun to me anymore. When I was younger I did collect rocks, shells, coins, milk ads too. That's my collecting in a nutshell.

That's a tough question to answer, especially for me, I've played so many of the best titles of the 1990's and early 2000's. But if I'd have to chose on the spot I'd pick the more overlooked arcade shooter Metal Slug 2.

Personally I'm just plain sick of the game now. I was one of the many people who played since Red/Blue and yes I like Gold/Silver the most. But there's so many pokemon now that the idea of "Gotta catch em all" has become a complete pipe dream and even then players just catch now for competitive purposes and only go after those particular pokemon that are deemed "Overused" such as Garchomp or Blissey. If Gamefreak really wanted to impress veteran players why don't they just create a pokemon MMORPG, how hard can that be? After all World of Warcraft has 4 giant regions of its own (Azeroth, Outlands, Northrend, and starting next week, Panderia).

I overlevel but not to try to breeze through a game, I love game storylines and content, I just overlevel so I can handle all the secret content a game has after the main story is completed (such as the secret bosses in the Final Fantasy series and Kingdom hearts).

It's not that easy to work on a Star fox storyline that won't somehow include Andross as the main antagonist, such was the case in Star Fox adventures. At least with Kirby titles there really isn't any main antagonist to work with (unless u count King Dedede as an annoyance and Meta Knight as a rival).

The biggest Zelda game ever huh? That's a big statement seeing as Ocarina of Time became the proverbial measuring stick towards every Zelda title that proceeded it. In that regard I feel that the two titles that lived up to that measuring stick were Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword. But.... if proclamations about this title being so great are true, then i guess it will measure up to Ocarina of Time as well, I hope.

Good to see we at least have a peek at what to expect. I just hope Wii U doesn't burn through all of Nintendo's franchises at the fast pace that Wii did.

Entertainment / The next SSB: Possible Character choices
« on: September 02, 2012, 12:08:17 am »
Hello all, as we know the Wii U information has just been released and in anticipation of the highly speculated SSB4 (whatever the title will be) I'm making up 5 characters that I can forsee will be in the game. Of course as we all know this is merely speculation and there has already been a lot of it. Here they are, comment as you see fit. In addition I'm using a 1 to 5 grading system with 5 being most likely and 1 being least likely.

5 Characters who will can be in SSB 4

Krystal (Star Fox Advetures, SF Assault): Fox McCloud's girlfriend (in a way) can be a great choice. Since she mainly relies on her magic staff for fighting rather than a blaster she can have a fighting set very different to that of Fox, Falco, or Wolf, a welcome change for those desiring something new. Additonally, maybe based on her storyline, Krystal could possibly possess a unique final smash of her own rather than the use of the Landmaster. No guarantees on her being chosen but I give Krystal a solid 5.

Magnus (Kid Icarus Uprising): Magnus is one tough warrior. He is different from other sword carriers from SSB in that his is a larger blade carried over his back rather than a mid sized blade like that of Link or Marth. Magnus certainly has a big attitude behind his strength too, as evidenced though his encounters with Dark Lord Gaol and Pit during KI: Uprising. Most though, would argue against his choosing since Magnus has only appeared in one title and in that title he only played a part twice. Additionally outside of his rush attacks and basic one, it won't be easy to make a movepool for him either. Still a possibility but I put Magnus at a 3.

Yarn Kirby (Kirby's Epic Yarn): This is a strange one but a valid option. If there can be another Link character why can't there be another Kirby? This Kirby is distinctly different from the one we all know and love. Rather than inhaling enemies and gaining copy abilities Yarn Kirby grabs foes and throws them around and transforms into different objects depending on the button pressed. As creative as this choice is it would require a lot of work for animation and a movepool could be trouble too. It's an idea but a far-fetched one, this is a 2.

Geno (Super Mario RPG): Here is a character worth choosing. Although he only made one title appearance Geno has a lot to contribute through his abilities in SM RPG such as his Flower point moves like the Geno Beam & Geno Flash and the various weapons he uses throughout the game. Although the game had no real voices in it, the way Geno spoke can speak volumes about his personality. A good candidate to say the least and as an additional note Geno was supposed to be chosen for Brawl but was removed due to time constraints. I'll give Geno a 4.5 .

Bowser Jr. (Various Mario titles): The mischievousness child of Bowser isn't too far off. Essentially Bowser Jr. could have a movepool similar to his dad's with maybe one or two being his own. Like Diddy Kong to Donkey Kong, Bowser Jr. would be more nimble but his attacks wouldn't pack as a much of a punch (course that didn't keep Diddy Kong from becoming the 3rd best character in SSB Brawl). If Bowser Jr. is selected then that would bring the Mushroom Kingdom's lineup up to 5 characters (7 if you consider Yoshi and Wario). Bowser Jr. is a different choice but not too far off from certain so I place Bowser Jr's chances at a 4.

Those are my potential candidates for the next SSB. There are definetely more people than these 5 but to save forum space I'll keep the list small. I will also come up with a list of characters who I do not think should be in the next SSB later, but for now comment as you see fit on a aforementioned list and hey if you want make your own guesses on the SSB 4 roster too. Enjoy!

Entertainment / Re: Unbalanced Characters from Super Smash Bros.
« on: August 29, 2012, 03:18:16 am »
This character isn't as unbalanced, he just became outright bad, if not totally nerfed, I think Jigglypuff fits the description perfectly. These are a few things that have happened to Jigglypuff.

It is way too floaty, making it an easy midair target.
It's rest technique lost WAY too much of the power it had back in Melee.
The rollout move is a tad slower than it was.
As creative as it is, Jigglypuff's final smash is just too ineffective.

Although Nintendo has been kind enough to keep the original 12 smash characters from the first game (jigglypuff being one of them) I fear that Jigglypuff could actually become the first of the original 12 to not make it to the next SSB game. The only way it will is if it gets unnerfed and it gets its Melee based power back.

Hmm, interesting. I would make a shirt that has many Navi fairys all over and the words "Watch out" or "Hey" and "Listen" all over the T shirt too, from the front and the back, nothing annoys Zelda players more than hearing her voice over and over throughout Ocarina of Time.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, because of how great it was I think it's the measuring stick upon which all future LoZ titles are measured.

Personally the two games I played back then but didn't think become major franchises would have to be Super Smash Brothers, Kingdom Hearts, and now that I think of it, Jak and Daxter. SSB seemed like a funny joke at first but I never suspected the release of SSB Melee (moreover Nintendo Gamecube's release title). Kingdom Hearts was an impressive title but despite the obvious cliffhanger at the end I didn't think a Kingdom hearts 2 would be done. Of the three titles Jak and Daxter was TOTALLY unexpected, Jak 2 was nothing like the first game (and by that I mean Jak 2 was far more awesome), though I didn't have too much love for Jak 3.

Entertainment / Re: What are your favorite Legend of Zelda boss battles?
« on: August 15, 2012, 05:52:56 am »
Tough to say, many of the fights were either really easy or really tough, to narrow my list down I'll my 5 five favorite battles and the 5 I hate.

My five favorites
1. Blizzega (Twilight Princess, Ice Lodge boss, the music was so epic)
2. Phantom Ganondorf (Ocarina of Time, Forest Temple boss, classic energy ball tennis)
3. Twinmold (Majora's Mask, Stone Tower Temple, you are a giant!)
4. Puppet Zelda (Twilight Princess, Hyrule Castle, you fight Zelda, omg)
5. Armos Knight (Link to the Past, Eastern Palace, just aim and shoot with the arrows or boomerang)

My five hated
1. Dark Link (Ocarina of time, Water Temple, he was a mini boss but he was really hard, had to use Din's Fire to win)
2. Moldorm (Link to the Past, Tower of Hera, stop knocking me off the platform!)
3. Volvaga (Ocarina of Time, Fire Temple, whack a dragon gets harder into the fight and he shoots fire at you sometimes when you get close)
4. Scervo (Skyward Sword, Sand Sea, hard to hit and you lose room as the fight continues)
5. Morpha (Ocarina of Time, Water Temple, once the tentacle grabs you, you can't block it and the attack takes out 3-4 hearts)

Interesting point you make MG Zero, they are the only ones who can grab from a range. Still, my feelings about the hookshot come not only from grabbing other players but using the hookshot for recovery, the point at which the hookshot grabs the ledge is close enough that the third jump (spin slash) already can get the job done. I also liked your mention of fierce deity link but I don't see him as a playable character, I see Fierce Deity Link as a possible final smash option for Young Link (if he were to be considered a playable character again) after all it was the ultimate weapon against Majora on LoZ: Majora's mask.

Entertainment / Link in Super Smash Brothers: Unbalanced
« on: August 14, 2012, 05:38:56 am »
When it comes to Link in SSB I feel hes getting pretty short changed on his attacks and there effectiveness, most notably in the SSB Brawl. These are some things I suggest change in order to make Link a tougher opponent in the next SSB installmenty, comment as you see fit:

Improve the hookshot: Links grab move, the hookshot, was decent in SSB but became pretty bad in Melee and Brawl (barely covering any distance), if the shot went farther and the animation was restored to its SSB incarnation, this would be good again.

Change the damage of the spin slash: Links Up+B Spin Slash was a surefire KO move in SSB and Melee, but it was nerfed into a multi hit attack in Brawl. In the next SSB this move has to be restored to its Melee-based power and be a single hard hit.

Normal Boomerang: In SSB Brawl Link had the wind boomerang which was fairly awkward while his "double" Toon Link had the normal boomerang. Links boomerang needs to be a regular ranged attack and has to be thrown further in the next SSB.

Slightly faster: Link hasn't always been the quickest character in SSB (like Sonic or Fox), but his movement speed should be slightly improved back up to his speed in Melee.

No more Link "doubles": There was Young Link in Melee and Toon Link in Brawl. Seems in the last two SSB games the Legend of Zelda roster always has another Link incarnation that is better then the original. As my last focus of this topic, I feel the SSB creators have to ditch the extra Link character and focus more on improving the original. Doing this would improve Link's tier position from last to 5th-15th (since characters like Diddy Kong and Meta Knight are completely overpowered).
