I thought long and hard about it, and I can be sure of this: I respect you all greatly. I really can't give any reasons due to all of you being such a diverse group, but you're definitely one of the most bizarre and fun-loving the community I've ever had the honor of becoming a part of, and anyone who is willing to put up with my !@#$% deserves to be worshiped.

Source loves you all.

Got an idea for a Big Question? PM Dantz!

Authors of this week's issue: Hoffy and Dantz

Featured Project (FP0102)
This week Hoffy went platforming with .TakaM's unique and unbelievably stylistic game, Twinsen. When he wasn't slicing enemies with his blade, throwing his magic ball or navigating tricky platforms, Hoffy was interviewing .TakaM about the history and future of Twinsen, and what players can look forward to. Here's the scoop!

So tell us a little bit about Twinsen. What kind of game is it? How long have you worked on it? Who works on it?
Twinsen is both the main character and name of the game Cocopuffs and I are working on, it's a fairly traditional 2D platformer which is almost a dead genre these days, and the game has existed in some form for almost 2 years now.

What initially motivated you to start this project?
I'll go back way to the start for this question, back to when this game wasn't even Twinsen.

This whole project was originally going to be a Zelda platformer, a few friends and I were going to work on it together, and I was just going to handle tiles.

yes, Twinsen may have just made a cameo appearance - Pikachu too for some reason...

Almost immediately I kept coming up with ideas I wanted to be in the game, the guys I would have worked with weren't too fond of my ideas or changes, and to make a short story even shorter, we all just moved away from the game.

But obviously I kept the tiles, and talked to Dascu about making the game, except I knew by this point all my ideas would fit in with Twinsen and his world.

Eventually Dascu couldn't translate some of my ideas into code, the game just wasn't shaping up as I would have liked, and one day Dascu got a virus and could no longer run GameMaker.

So then in an act of desperation I went to the GameMaker forums and made a recruitment topic.
I got a PM from one "Cocopuffs" who said he was quite good with GM, I checked out a few of his other projects which were indeed quite good, we added each other on MSN, and he surpassed Dascus' build in about an hour :P.

You don't see as many side-scrolling 2D platformers these days. Do you plan to bring some innovation to the genre with Twinsen?
You certainly don't see many 2D platformers these days, like I said earlier it's basically a dead genre.
My main concern with Twinsen isn't really to deliver on innovation, it's a very hard thing to promise.
All we're aiming for is to end up with a game the player can mess around in like I love to do with Super Metroid, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario 64, and a few others.

The art style and animation are fantastic, the game looks gorgeous. What inspires you to create worlds like this? How do you sprite?
When we first started on the graphics- when it was originally a Zelda game, we decided to keep the graphics simple so they'd be easy to work with and continue to work on.
The graphics have been almost completely redone since then, still in a similar style and with mostly the same pastel colours, but with just a bit more detail and polish.

I still sprite in MSpaint, and when I need to animate I use Imageready, it's not a process I'd recommend and I think it's inevitable that one day I'll move onto promotion or something else better geared for pixel art.

Can you give us any hints as to how the story begins?
Yeah sure, it'll be in the demo anyways.
Something has happened to disrupt the energy at the core of the planet- breathing life into everything and sorta going into defense mode.
Twinsen will talk to Baldino to find out what's happened and how he can fix it.

We've kept the story simple because planning a huge epic would just slow us down and frankly it doesn't need a deep story.

Does the story relate to Little Big Adventure in any way? What similarities will Twinsen share with Little Big Adventure?

I've already taken a lot of liberties such as Twinsens' wife Zoe having a full head of hair, whereas in the original LBA games all the Quetches (basically the humans) have just a ponytail, however I don't think it was ever made clear whether this was because of their culture or in their genetics.
The story will relate to the LBA games in some ways, lot's of references that LBA fans will recognize and appreciate, but the new comer will still not be lost.

There are some really unique characters and enemies in the game, including some doctor with an elephant head. What other creatures can players expect to see?
Ah yes, Baldino.

He'll play a fairly major role in the game, in the official series he's an inventor and that trait will continue through our game also.
There will be more Grobo characters (elephant like people) in the game and most of them will offer side quests.
I was also working on the Rabbibunny sprites the other night, so expect to see more of these guys:

Are you going to have any boss battles?
Yes, there will be at least one boss per world, we already have some good ideas we're looking forward to making a reality.

Twinsen can use a sword, jump and throw a magic ball. He can also combine these in such a way to perform combos. Will Twinsen gain any other abilities as the game progresses?

I Think Twinsen will have all his abilities from the start, some may end up enhanced depending on the player, and some won't come into play outside of specific scenarios.

I played the demo, and I found it to be difficult right off the bat. I really liked how the player had to perform Twinsen's button combos perfectly to reach high ledges and so forth. I think it gives the game a Metroid-type feel, in that you have to exploit your abilities to the highest extent. Do you think the finished product will end up a really tricky platform game?
We're aiming to allocate a variety of play styles, much like in Super Metroid- you didn't have to use the boost button to finish the game, you didn't have to wall jump to finish the game, but they were there for players who wanted some extra depth to the gameplay.
The gameplay is definitely not as complex as super Metroid, but moreso than the average platformer.

So far the only area we've seen is a peaceful green forest sitting beside a pristine lake. What kind of landscape variation can players expect to see in the future?
Much of what was in the LBA games, sewers, desert, mountains, mines, and a few others I won't spoil. :P

How many levels are you expecting to end up with? How long will the game be?
I think you can expect around 100 levels, I love the level making process and I think even when Twinsen is finished I'll still be making levels for myself.
As for how long... I'd hope the fastest possible speed run would be no less than 30 minutes, but it's tough to gauge.

I heard you contacted the designer of the original Little Big Adventure, and that he was quite happy to have you develop this game. Do you plan on publishing it in some way?
Frederick Raynal is an admirable man, I couldn't ask for more than him to not cease and desist this game. :P
As of now the game only exists as a free GM game, but as for the future.. who knows.

Has the ZFGC community been particularly supportive over the course of Twinsen's development, in your opinion? Can they do anything to help?
Interesting question, I think I'm just as motivated as when we first started.
Basically, I think even if no one cared about Twinsen I'd still be just as motivated as I am, I really love the game already and I doubt anything could change that.
Right now there isn't really anything we need help with, but in the future we might be asking for NPC/enemy/boss/level design ideas.

Finally, why should ZFGC's members, as well as Little Big fans, look forward to the final release of Twinsen?
Because this game will be finished, like I said, I'm just as motivated as when we first started and I'm still in love with this game.
Hopefully my own love for this game will be apparent when others are playing, when I play my favourite games I can see the love that's gone into every detail and how proud everyone behind the game must be.

Know a project you think should be featured? PM Dantz!

-- Also, check out the latest progress on Kylink's ZFGC-inspired fan fiction! I think it's more of an original story, but I digress. The latest chapter should be up very soon here: http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=24895.0. This is a really cool project and Kylink is completely open to community input, so make sure you have a look!

-- The ZFGC Community Project has posted updated NPC characters and sprites, which can be viewed at http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=28969.0. There is also an ongoing discussion about Hyrule City's layout, which can be found at http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=28931.90

ITT: we discuss our culinary experiments and share them with others.

I'll start off with what I had for dinner tonight. Prep time was roughly 15 minutes total:

- Two grilled cheeses, each with cheddar, pepperjack, and a slice of tomato. One of them was made on some sourdough bread that my mom baked :3 The tomato works great with pepperjack cheese.
- A cucumber salad with dill havarti and feta cheese, topped with italian dressing. This is a really smooth, cool dish.
- A Dr. Pepper, of course!

So, the moderator formerly known as Knivu is now known as Dantz. This is because Dantz matches the name I use everywhere else, and ZFGC is the only place left where Dantz is not the de facto standard.

Likewise, Knivu is also a bit of a relic from my more weeaboo-y days...days that are long gone now, yet another reason for the change.

Well, my friend has this comedy group thing he's doing. He had an idea for a story about a musician who sucks but thinks he is the greatest thing ever.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S38XEKHR7ew" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S38XEKHR7ew</a>

Here was the creative process:

1. They had the idea
2. I wrote the script
3. Large parts of my script were taken and applied to a new character
4. It was filmed, and a lot of wonderful improv was factored in
5. Here we go!

Needless to say, it was an honor to work with these guys. I'd say roughly 20%-30% of the final product is my creation, but their improv and the character they created made it all much better!

Entertainment / Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends
« on: June 14, 2008, 05:33:05 pm »

Well, for anyone else that cares, Coldplay's fourth album has been released in Europe and Japan. I...er..."acquired" a copy of it, and as a longtime fan of the band, I'm very impressed with the direction they're taking.

The new album keeps their familiar feel, but lead singer Chris Martin sings at a noticeably lower key in certain songs, and the music is more abstract, almost U2-inspired in places. However, his voice is still familiar and the band's signature pianos and landscapey guitar sounds are still there. The album also has a number of subtle, but noticeable Spanish influences, and the lyrics aren't all the mournful love songs the band is known for.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the album. "42," "Viva La Vida," and "Violet Hill" are the best songs so far, but as the album grows on me that might change.

Any other opinions? Also, in b4 "COLDPLAY SUX"

Entertainment / Darkfall: The Next Great MMO?
« on: June 13, 2008, 03:28:41 am »
I saw this game while crusing Wikipedia the other night, and IT LOOKS INCREDIBLE. Like, I think this has the potential to be one of the greatest games ever made.

Quote
Darkfall is expected to have several features that set it apart from the majority of MMORPGs:

    * Unrestricted PvP, with no safe zones, only protection by NPC guards in racially controlled cities. Indiscriminate player killing results in changes in alignment (see alignment section below), which in turn has severe in-game consequences [4].
    * A character advancement system devoid of player levels and classes. The majority of player capabilities are determined by the possession of skills, which improve in response to in-game use. For example, all weapon proficiencies, the ability to swim, cast spells, ride mounts, and climb various obstacles are all skills that can be learned and improved through in-game use.
    * A real-time combat system that includes FPS-style manual aiming & blocking.[5] Ranged combat will be viewed from first person perspective. Melee combat will be viewed from third person perspective. There will also be no 'player radar' or floating names with which to identify players or NPCs [6]. Furthermore, friendly fire is always in effect, so missed melee attacks, misfired arrows, as well as area of effect offensive and healing spells affect both friends and enemies.[7]
    * Complete looting. All of a player's items become world lootable on death (see looting section below), and virtually all props and items in the game will be player-craftable.[8]
    * Cities that can be built, sieged, captured and destroyed by players [9].
    * Naval warfare, with the ability to create, board, capture and sink player controlled ships [10].
    * Real-world physics, including inter-character and projectile-character collision detection. Projectiles (spells, arrows, cannonballs etc.) can be evaded or blocked in real time. Players can be pushed or blocked by other players, NPCs and/or explosions [11].
    * Dynamic, physical weather, including variable, directional winds. For example, foggy or rainy weather can severely limit sight range and high winds greatly influence tidal wave amplitude and ship movement. Day and night cycles are based on a realistic planetary system of 2 orbiting moons.
    * Enhanced monster behaviour and AI. Monsters do not simply stand and swing at players until dead; they may employ sophisticated combat tactics based on their capabilities, social behaviour, and intelligence level. For example, intelligent monsters will preferentially target healers, casters, and/or weakened players. Monsters do not have fixed spawn locations or sizes - monsters form their own communities, may construct buildings and/or may relocate to new areas in response to being hunted by players. Monsters may also fight other monsters in their region.
    * A zoneless game world capable of supporting over 10,000 concurrent players per game instance.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkfall

The things that really get my blood pumping are the little ones: how weather influences the tides, a TRUE real-time combat system, advanced collision detection (heavily armored tank holding a checkpoint singlehandedly? YES!), natural monster ecosystems...the details are what will truly set this game apart.

There's also another incredibly cool feature: real stealth. No magic spell that turns you invisible: you have to make use of shadows, natural camoflauge, and actual SKILL to play stealthy. Metal armor also reflects light, which means people can see you when stealthing.

Opinions? I think it could be the best game ever...but something tells me it won't be.

Other Discussion / Networking difficulties
« on: June 02, 2008, 03:01:39 am »
Okay, so I'm having one hell of a time setting up the TrackMania server I've been working on. I finally got the required network cables today, and because I have no router, I instead plugged it up to a hub. My mom's computer utilizes Internet Connection Sharing, where she connects to my PC as if my computer were a router; however, she is plugged into this hub. Both of our computers use Windows XP SP2; the server runs on Windows 2000 Professional. Therefore, according to this, the other computer should be able to utilize ICS as well.

Anyway, I get the new drivers for the server NIC on a CD and load them on there. Installation goes perfectly. I set up ICS according to a guide I found on Google. However, I keep getting a "Network cable unplugged" error...and the hub isn't showing any activity from it. I have tried unplugging, replugging, reseating the NIC in a different PCI slot, reinstalling the drivers, using different hub ports, and even manually routing the thing to my computer's freakin' IP address! AHHH!

So, short of resetting the connection (which I can't do right now since my mom is online), is there any reason why this shouldn't work? The cable is good, as I was just using it with her computer before I re-routed everything.

Dunno if any of you have ever played TrackMania Nations Forever, but it's awesome! It's a free racing game with both standard racing-style tracks and loopy, ridiculous stunt-style tracks. You can download the game and play online for free, no strings attached.

Get it at www.trackmania.com

Also, a dedicated server is currently running in my room. Instructions for connecting are below. Due to my strange internet configuration, connecting to my server requires the use of Hamachi.

System Requirements
Windows 2000/XP/Vista
500 MHz Processor
500 MB HD space
256MB RAM
16MB 3D card with Direct X 9.0c installed (a GeForce 2/Radeon 7500 or better will probably work)

Server Status: Down
The current player limit is 8

Connection Instructions
1. Download Hamachi (https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp?lang=en)
2. Install and restart your computer
3. Open Hamachi, and click the button with a triangle in it. Select "Join existing network."
4. For the network name, use Dantzserver.
5. After joining the network successfully, open TrackMania and get to the main menu.
6. Select Party Play -> On a local network, then my server should appear.

Discussion / Reign of Melancholy - A Prose Fantasy Project
« on: May 18, 2008, 09:25:23 pm »
This is a project I started about a year ago but, due to several ongoing screenplays (two of which I have finished!) and some writer's block, I never finished it. It's a fantasy that tries to balance politics with whimsical, romantic elements. Thanks to some recent inspiration, I'm considering picking it back up and perhaps publishing it on the web for free...depending on if I can generate enough content for its projected novel size.

I'm posting the prologue and opening chapter here for anyone that's interested in reading it. If I gain an audience here, there are at least two more chapters finished.

--Prologue--

The moon was bright tonight.
It stood out in the clear night sky, casting a supernatural glow on the world, causing light to bloom from the treetops of the forest canopy. Slivers of its otherworldly warmth cascaded over the churning current of the Great River, glistening brilliantly off wet, moss-covered rocks struggling to keep their heads above the surface.
This river would guide Aric tonight.
Like a gentle blue giant, it carried him. All he had to do was point it in the right direction. Thankfully the river was just shallow enough for Aric to pole through, despite its width and seemingly never-ending length. And indeed, Aric had no idea where this monster began or ended. He had never been beyond the borders of Turiel, at least not since he was about two, and he had no memory of that.
But Aric still knew where he was headed.
Scribe Daywin had always loved Aric, almost like a son, and questioned him not when he requested some maps of the lands to the south of Turiel's vast forests. That was the problem; ironically, Aric seemed to be the only one who ever questioned anything.
Aric looked back over his shoulder. Home, he thought. Or at least it was.
The River Fortress of Turiel was immense, and Aric was unaccustomed to it being this small. Even now, a fair distance downriver, it still towered above the centuries-old trees of the forest.
To Aric, it seemed as hard to leave as it would be for enemies to breach. Castle Turiel was constructed on top of a huge stone arch that spanned the breadth of the Great River. A man could only get in two ways; the entrances on each side of the river or from below, riding the current southward as it flowed underneath the walls. There were no guard towers on this side of the castle, for which Aric was thankful, but the opposite end was death for all northern intruders.
True, just the day before this enormous structure was where Aric called home. It had been as such for fifteen years. But not anymore. Inside the walls of Castle Turiel, something had been wrong for around a month now. When he came.
The Last Mage of Kelhan, he called himself. How he could call himself that was beyond Aric; the Kelhan people had imploded some 10 years before in their thirst for magic. Ragnar had a certain other magic, however; a sort of supernatural personal charm. It was a technique he used to gain the trust of the king, Aric's siblings, and even old Daywin. Poor, poor Daywin. A bright man, yet so blind to threats.
Ragnar's charms clearly had their intended effect on King Rickard. Since his arrival in Turiel an unexplainable air of confidence, cockiness even, had overtaken the good king. There had always been tension between Turiel and the eastern nation of Runadea, but Aric's father was now possessed of an inexplicable desire to destroy them. It was frightening.
If I cannot save them, thought Aric, then I will save myself.
Aric kept on down the river, god knows what behind him, and hopefully salvation somewhere on the horizon.

Casle Turiel's size was typically a reassurance to all who made it a home. However, at a time such as this one, its greatest strength would become a source of lamentation, especially when every inch of it had to be searched in such a short time.
Such was the task Bernard was charged with. He supposed that was what he got, being a member of the Bronze Guard. Above the citizenry, below the military, and gaining the respect of neither, his place was an awkward niche of both duty and independence. He missed the days of exploring Turiel's forest as a boy, as he rarely left the castle because the Bronze were perpetually on garrison duty.
Which made it even more unusual for Rickard to directly hand down an order to the black sheep of his defense force, those who were even less important than his rarely used reserve of footmen. Right after the dawn shift began for the Bronze, chaos erupted.
   Prince Aric was gone.
   Gone? thought Bernard. But...how?
It wasn't the place of a Bronze to ask questions. Then again, it usually wasn't the place of a Bronze to search for missing princes, either. The sun was just waking up, and soon the whole of Turiel would rise with it awash with rumors and gossip.
"Bronze Guard, open up." Pound pound pound. "Come on, up with you."
He and two other guardsmen were at the door of a small tenement building in a lower class section of Turiel Castle Town. The place was so claustrophobic that it was hard to tell where one building ended and another began.
"Bronze Guard, please open your door."
"Oh, shut up, I'm coming for Drenn's sake!"
There was a thundering inside the house followed by the soft rumblings of smaller feet and the sounds of a rushed waking. The door was unlatched hastily and opened. A large, bulbous man, built like a blacksmith, greeted them about as warmly as the Fellwin mountains. He was flanked on both sides by a girl and a woman, both of whom were meek and silent, clad in ambiguous white one-piece clothing that draped over them like a tent.
   "What?" he remarked impatiently.
Bernard began, going through the motions. "Greetings, citizen. Under the direct command of Rickard Turion, Second of His Name and Reigning King of Turiel - "
"Oh, under the command of our Lord King, eh? Splendid. Tell him to let me !@#$% sleep, I've got a long day ahead of me."
"Sir, we are under warrant to search your home."
He was dumbstruck, but the other two kept silent and emotionless. "Er...whatcha mean?"
"Please let us enter, sir," Bernard replied. Here came the most annoying part of the procedure. "Lest we must force ourselves so."
"What? You come 'ere at - " he peered into the orange sky - "six in the morning, and demand all righteous-like to wake me up and search my !@#$% house?" He made a noise of disgust. "Fine, come in, ye knights of bronze, but ye won't find jack !@#$% in this hole in th'wall." He stepped out of the way and the woman and girl followed, still staring blankly at the soldiers.
"The king appreciates your compliance," one of Bernard's companions generically blurted.
"My king don't appreciate !@#$%," he yawned loudly. They were obligated to hush such talk, but given the circumstances and the irrelevancy of doing so, the three Bronzemen made an exception.
True to his word, the man had very little in his part of the tenement. Bernard assumed he worked elsewhere due to his collection of smithing hammers hung on the wall. He obviously did more unskilled work to live in a place like this. 'Who do you smith for, sir?" asked Bernard, hoping to ease the tension.
"None of your god-damned business," he replied tersely. Well, that settled that discussion. Bernard climbed the rickety staircase slowly, struggling in the tight confines of the tenement because of his bulky armor.
"Margaret!" yelled the man. "Fix some coffee, seeing as 'ow my day's startin' bright and early thanks to His !@#$% Grace. Yeah, really graceful this 'ole thing is. And Cate, you don't leave this house 'til the festival starts. Can't have you runnin' about."
The second story consisted solely of a bedroom with no sign of anything, much less Aric. A quick check under the low-sitting bed confirmed that, like every home they had checked since the shift began, Turiel’s prince was nowhere to be found. Of course he could still be in the city, but you'd think he'd be in a more creative hiding place.
It was time to leave. Bernard joined the other guards downstairs, with a silent understanding that they had all found nothing. Thankfully, one of the other men did the honors.
"Thank you for your cooperation. We shall take our leave."
"Hope you enjoyed your stay, bronze boys," the smith responded sarcastically. Bernard didn't know the other soldiers, but was glad that they were as apathetic to insults as himself.
The rest of the morning progressed without incident. They searched several shops, one of which was tricky to maneuver in because of the potions stacked to the ceiling in glass jars and vials. Most of the private homes were full of overexcited children running around, though they did enter one that was the domain of an old crone that looked as if she hadn't been outside in years. Other bronzemen could be seen around them, digging through every building and combing through every alley for some hint of Aric, to no avail.
Around ten when the Tricentennial Festival was starting, the search was called off. Rickard had decided Aric couldn't be anywhere in the city. His disappearance was the primary topic of discussion at Bernard's lunch in the Bronze barracks at the North end of the city, in the heart of the Industrial District.
"So what happened, exactly?" Bernard asked a fellow soldier at his table.
   "What, besides Aric going missing?"
"You know what I mean, Joaquin."
"Well, there's lots of rumors. Some say he got kidnapped by Runadean spies. Course, Rickard would want us to believe that, eh? Seems plausible though." He paused to finish a mouthful of trout. "The crazies are all saying Ragnar did something with the boy. Drenn knows that mage is pretty powerful."
"But Aric? Why not the king?"
"That's what I said. But...one of my buds - we grew up together, he's in the Silver - says that Aric just ran away."
Now that was almost as tough to swallow as the slightly molded bread on Bernard's plate. "...Why? Why the hell would Aric want to leave Turiel? We're easily the most powerful nation in the world, he's betrothed to that pretty Darnell girl, and come on...he's a prince! And on the day of the Tricentennial...oh, Rickard must be distraught!
Joaquin finished his plate and signaled a serving girl to take it to the kitchens. "Well I know for sure Emile and Rogan are, but...funny thing about Rickard, he's...not."
   "What?"
"Yeah, I saw him this morning when he was giving orders to the zone officers. Seemed...annoyed, more than anything. Like he was doing chores or something."
Bernard was mystified. Being a simple town guard of a city that was never attacked gave him small knowledge of Rickard and Aric's relationship; however, he could formulate no excuse or reason for such strange behavior.
"Perhaps he's too busy with the festivities," Bernard reasoned. Whether it was wishful thinking or not, he couldn't tell.
"Understandably," said Joaquin. "Our brothers are swamped. Seriously, this place is nuts, literally all the city. People came from as far west as Kierkaden. Hell, even the Darnells from all the way South showed up."
   "Well, that's to be expected."
"Yeah, they're in for a nasty surprise though when they see that Aric's gone off somewhere. Poor little Lara, her betrothed is missing..."
They were headed back to duty now. The hallways of the barracks were a maze of shining armor and the amber glow of torches, with the occasional servant or fellow soldier bustling through. Joaquin, ever a master of social graces, spotted a particularly busty maid and gave her a clap on the rear. She responded in kind with a slap to the face.
"Hmm...red doesn't look too bad with bronze, I suppose," said Joaquin, rubbing the sore spot on his cheek.
Bernard chuckled. "Remember, you're a Bronze boy." It was a fact that he faced every day; sure, you policed the citizenry, but the Bronze were the outcasts of Turiel's defense force. It was a job due more credit and respect than what it usually received.
However, as Bernard stood guard in Osmond's Square, the statue of Turiel's founding king prominently in its center, he couldn't help but feel proud for being a man of the Bronze Gaurd. The children ran around playing, the singers charmed the nobles, and the Janus Troupe rehearsed for the evening's performance of "Requiem for a Throne." This kingdom belonged to Rickard, but the people, the culture, the Tricentennial itself, were not his to claim.
This is our city, thought Bernard. My city.

For the record, YouTube absolutely does not do the quality of this video justice.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aK4cEa8esM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aK4cEa8esM</a>

So at my college, the president of our film club (which I am involved in) owns a Sony HVR-A1J. So what do we do on a bored afternoon? REENACT CARDCRUSHER IN HD!!!!!

For other video nerds, this was originally shot using said camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and a 3CCD chip, at 1080i30, 29.97 FPS, and the footage deinterlaced in Premiere. The YouTube version was encoded at 420x320 in H.264...I have a 720p copy saved on my computer that's so pretty, I wish I could post it somewhere :(
