The deal is, I got a 250GB, and my actual 120GB is damaged, so, I need urgently to change it. So, I'll  backup my info and format it. Then, install Windows on the other one and it's okay...
Now, my computer doesn't read the 250GB disk, and some guy told my dad we need SP2 installed so it works... Now... Either I'm missing something or this is completely WTF... How do I put the 2nd Service Pack on a clean disk? It's pretty much contradicting...
So, how do I do this?

Also, I'm planning on creating two partitions for the sake of installing Ubuntu, too... (Watch out with getting excited, Sol. XD)

Sorry, but I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what's actually happening here :P

So you're saying you installed Windows on the 250GB, and now it won't boot?

Nope, I just can't install Windows on the 250GB, because I need Windows... O_o
From what I heard, in order to have my 250GB read, I must have SP2 installed, it seems to just boot that way. :S

That makes no sense...
I worked in a pc shop and used friggin 500gb drives.  Some people think they have to have their original Windows XP restore disc put on there(I mean like from 2002 lol).
You have to have the Windows XP disc...

Did you do anything with the 250gb at all yet?

Nope, not yet.
Maybe I'll try again. Last time I did, it was 6 months ago... :x
I may have forgot something. I just need to backup this one before.

You don't need windows to install windows. You just need the windows XP disk.

Make sure your computer will boot from the CD before the hard drive, or press F12 usually to choose what to boot from. When you're in the menu, it'll ask you which drive to format and put windows on.

You can do this all with the old drive taken out - what you might as well do is install windows to the new drive, and then boot up from it and then copy your files across in windows. You'll need to either make sure the new one is set to 'master' or there may be an option in the bios to set which to boot from.
