Ah awesome! Bigger and overwhelmingly huge is always better >.> haha. I can't wait to see it. Might have to actually stick around a bit just to see what you come up with. :D

I'm 99.9% sure he's going for the concept art's design, and not the 3d model's interpretation of the concept art :p
Ah yes, you are right. But still even in the concept art it looks like 3 major strands and 2 very short strands on both sides of those. Although I may very well be wrong as you can't see exactly how his hair is in it, but looks like 3 long and 2 short. Iono, not really important just a suggestion :)

Just dropped in for the first time in ages, lol.(I'm GanonSpriteR, changed my name a while back)

Just wanted to say, awesome work man. Everything you've created so far is looking pretty amazing. Good job.

As for the Ganon(lol yes I'm fairly partial to Ganon sprites, hence the old name xD) I really like where you're going with him. The only thing I'd like to see is that his swords do not cross and are asymetrical, like a more dynamic pose or something. Similar to where you were going with this Perhaps you leave his left arm the way it is, and position his right arm slightly different, rotate the hand toward the viewer more?

One last thing, I'm not really loving the hair. I used to have the original 3d model of Ganon, and he only has 3 long, thicker strands of hair.

Just a few suggestions, I'd like to see this sprite come out completely awesome :D

Good work so far, keep it up!

Hmm... well I don't really see anything wrong. It looks better at 2x, right now it's a bit small.  I'd suggest practicing with something a bit bigger... say around 100x100.

Lookin good fellas.  Some stuff just needs to be tweaked a bit.

Here's just some to name.  The lava cave tiles could be a bit more saturated. The Beast Ganon sprite doesn't really look too much like Ganon(If it even is Ganon :P) and the door opening doesnt look quite right, it seems to stretch at the end when it closes.. there's a few more but they just look unfinished.

I love the Link running, the well, the cave entrance and the character sprites though. Good work.

I tried to do a small edit to cut down on some colors, moved the neck over, and made the jaw a bit rounder.  Maybe you'll like what I did, but its not too noticable but I think it makes a difference.

I didn't say to make her like every other Zelda, but if I saw that somewhere else without the name Zelda written on it, I wouldnt even think it was Zelda.  I guess when you add the jewelery it would look more like her, maybe even a head band?

To me, it doesn't look like Zelda. It might look better if you move the head to the right a couple pixels. Maybe try rounding the left side of her face(our right) You have too many skin tones.  The four lightest colors are so close you could do away with at least 2 of them, and not have any detail-loss. Her right(our left) eye looks off center. Nicely done so far, hope to see more updates.

Graphics / Re: Faster Recolor Method
« on: October 22, 2006, 03:39:13 am »
Wow, real productive post OSL :-\

Faster than that, but restricted to the entire image, in mspaint:

Have the colour you want to replace as the secondary colour, and the colour you want to replace it with as the primary colour.

Press Ctrl+a
Press Ctrl+x
Select the jug fill tool
Left click on the canvas such that the entire canvas is filled with the primary colour
Press Ctrl+v
Select the Masked paste mode, and not the Opaque one, under the tools box at the side.
Now click outside the canvas.

You just have to make sure that when you press ctrl+v that you are scrolled up and left all the way, or you will lose some of the canvas.

Greatly improved! Nice job. I suggest getting rid of the darker gray in the cloud swirl outline thing.  The "ZELDA" also looks wierd with jagged edges.  But it does look much better than the original :D

Looks really good... the clounds under the boat, the light to dark, I think it should be like a dark blue-ish to a blue-green color plus the white outline looks a bit wierd.  Maybe try Pixelling the background too, shouldn't be too hard(You could probably do it with around 13 colors and black).  I like the boat most of all great job on him ;D.

It looks like he's roller skating... and his arm's dont look natural they just seem to be rolling around his waist.  Trying studying tutorials on walking. The sprite itself doesnt look bad at all. Try adding some white highlights though, because it kinda looks alittle flat.  Good job on it so far.

It needs quite a bit of work. I don't know where to start.  You need more contrast in the colors, you have 3 shades for the highlighted area of the head, you could get away with only one of them. Then I suggest getting rid of the dithering. So much dithering just doesn't work very well in one picture.  You could also clean those lines up so they are not so jagged. It's hard to crit a piece like this :S. Just put some more work into it and repost what you come up with ;)

Try using less saturated colors, and more contrast. Try doing a more dramatic piece, one that is not so subtle. Maybe try coloring someone elses lineart in the topic "Lineart Exchange" on those forums.

I really like this piece.  Its looking pretty good.  I suggest that you make his chest wider, and maybe the arms a tad smaller, they look too big, if you kept the muscle tone and just made his arms a little more compact that would look better IMO.  I can't wait to see more progrees on this.

Looking good SC, my only crit would be that the saddle and Link look offset, it looks like Link should be moved forward a pixel or two.  It's coming along nicely good job.

H_B: Yes, he did say he was making it for Mmgb, but did he say that no one  else could use it?  I didn't see anywhere in this topic, that he said no one could use it.  But if he said in private to you or says it in this topic, then by all means prove me wrong.

Haven't seen many Epona sprites around in a while, especially GB style.

To fix the humping, maybe make her hair on her neck smaller, then move Link forward a pixel or two.  Nicely done.

His face looks kinda chubby, but I don't know why, maybe it has something to do with the position of his eyes, or the width of his face. The shading looks good. Just work on that face a little ;)

Looks pretty good.  The lineart needs to be cleaned up though, and then maybe some AA would help get rid of those jaggies.

Aab, I definately don't recommend editting lttp or other simple sprites.  I have seen very little good come from them. Editting doesn't really help your skills that much, unless you edit a very detailed medium sized sprite(maybe some fighter sprites, or something like that)

There are some great tutorials here:
Go here, click tutorials
If its not in english click "English" in the menu at the top left

Try some of those, they may be of help to you.  And if you really want to get good you HAVE to practice.
1.Try by first getting am idea.
2.Pixel it roughly to get the basic shape(When doing lineart
3.Figure out a light source(Try using an offset light source(one coming from the left, or right, not in the middle.)
4.Put the light colors where the light would shine, then dark colors where the shadows would be.(When you pick you colors, try messing with saturation and hue to get a nice color, dont use a high saturation on anything)
5.Then add any details you forgot earlier.(get the colors count down as low as possible while still retaining the detail, like maybe one of your darkest shade of a color could fit in the place of another color but make sure it fits in.)
6.Post you results get some critique, and edit your pixel art accordingly.

Later after you get better and learn about colors and such, to AAing and Dithering(look for tutorials if you dont know what these are) and see if you can't get better results from that. Even try some hue shifting in your pixels(Sometimes you can use a color in the place of another color that will give you interesting results(like say a blue-ish color in the place of a green-ish color) Good luck with your pixeling ;)

Looks good OSM! Although some parts look a little pillowy, and he needs some visible arms :P. Good job though.
