I am, (or rather, was), a huge fan of Godzilla. I can't say that I've seen every film, but I know the mythos quite well. It's sad that not many of the newer films have been able to capture the interest of the masses like the original, but there have been some very epic sequels in its run.
It's just unfortunate that many of the more recent film have almost intentionally been campy, (kinda like the newer "Friday the 13th" movies..."Jason X" anyone??). I was really excited when the American version of "Godzilla" came out, and at the time I thought it was good, (I think I was like 8 or something like that), but it really doesn't hold up with the legacy of the series. Godzilla can be interpreted two ways; One, as a political statement, (as in the original movie...the current state of the world would be perfect for this *America-cough*), and also as campy but entertaining monster flick, (most of the sequels, though not all).
Hopefully this upcoming movie brings back the subtle political statements of the original...don't get me wrong, I'm an American, but I can honestly say that I hate America more than any other country, (politically speaking), at the moment. This would be a perfect time to make a Godzilla movie that is both true to current world events and able to satisfy long time fans. The CG model that the site you linked to shows isn't quite as good as what I would hope, but the style is exactly what I would hope it would be. Hopefully they refine it before the movie is finished...assuming this movie is actually being made.
Long live Gojira!

Wow...I completely missed the point of this thread.....like, hardcore...
