They both look decent, but I've never found a box art which I actually like(perhaps aside from MP2).

Yeah, I think I liked the old one better. The new one is pretty nice,too, though.

I like the new one much better.
Also glad they centered the title.  Having it off-center really bothers me.

Ah yes, very nice, I like it. I don't think Mario has as much attitude in the new one, but it's definitely a prettier box.

I do like this one better, though Mario's facial expression is a bit odd.  Also, as a side note, why even bother putting "Rating Pending" on the box.  I realize that the "official" ERSP rating hasn't been issued and all, but is there really anyone who thinks it's going to get anything other than an "E" for Everyone?  No...no !@#$% way.

Wouldn't it be funny if it somehow got "A/O", or even just "T".  I'd laugh for like six months straight...probably dying midway through due to lack of oxygen.

As much as I'd like to say I prefer the new boxart, the old one was pretty good- save for Mario's ass. It showed the mystery surrounding space and put Mario into what appeared to be a situation in which he wasn't too confident- perhaps giving it a somewhat darker edge? Yet the new boxart retains that traditional Mario style, showing what the game's all about in one shot, with Mario flying round and making the game look very interesting. Something you'd want to play, whereas with the old one your average guy (obviously recognizing Mario) wouldn't really know what the game entailed, other than being in space. So the new one, in my opinion is better, if only because it does its job better.

I don't really care for 3d Mario games anymore.  The last good one to me was Super Mario 64 DS(which was pretty much a remake of SM64).  Sunshine blowed, that Wario cube game blowed.  NSMB on the DS was awesome.  Mario just seems to be getting really cheesy.To kiddy or something.

Anyway, in way of art, I like the second.

Dude! Have you watched ANY of the videos for Galaxy? It has all the features that made Mario 64 great, and totally new elements- and when I look at it, I get the same awesome feeling as Mario 64 gave me!

Mario isn't getting cheesy, he's just being a sellout, sort of. His name is being put to every damn genre, save for shooters and sandbox games. Thus, he loses his magic/prestige/whatever.

Btw, Wario is NOT Mario. Sure, he's from the same series- but they're very different.

I don't see how it supposedly blows, but then again I don't see how Sunshine blows either.  While I got a little more enjoyment out of SM64 because it was a whole lot easier, Sunshine had a lot more depth than finding a random star in a random hiding place(well, aside from some secret ones).  And it looks to me like SMG will have a whole lot more depth with its planets(well, let's just hope the gravity physics are better than that one level in SAB2) and pointer, etc.
