Description:Open Girlfriend was created as an idea around the end of 2005 by two (mad) scientists. They wanted to develop semi-artificial humans that could be speedgrown to an appropriate size for the "user" (with lack of better words). The project would have a developing-model not unlike the one so called open source and free software projects have, so the user would be free to modify the girlfriend for his (or her) needs (read about the four freedoms below). Anyway, in 2006 they added the project on SourceForge.net (
http://sourceforge.net/projects/opengf/), and the development rate was very fast. Already the second day in July this year (2007) they released the source for the first prototype (v1.0rc1), which was based on Sols desires (one of the scientists). A photo of it's base can be found here:

Of course, that's just a prototype. An open girlfriend can really just look about anything, and there has been quite a few modifications around the world. But there's not really good photos of them (and everyone else's taste sucks).
Open Girlfriend's Four Freedoms:- The freedom to use the girlfriend, for any purpose (freedom 0).
- The freedom to study how the girlfriend works, and adapt her to your needs (freedom 1). Access to the DNA is a precondition for this.
- The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor satisfy his or her needs (freedom 2).
- The freedom to improve the girlfriend, and release your improvements to the public, so that the whole community benefits (freedom 3). Access to the DNA is a precondition for this.
FAQQ: How do I start?
A: Download the source and compile it in the GNU Compiler Collection port included (gogfc). Print out the result in our special writer (driver source included) and put it in a glass of water with a lot of salt over the night. When it's starting to look like a small embryo put it in a larger bowl and so on. In about two weeks you will have a fully grown human, which you can shape a little (although, everything in the DNA can't be changed anymore). As long as it's in a salty water enviroment it will speedgrow, the earlier you take it out, the younger it will be.
Q: How much salt do I need? And how much does it usually cost?
A: It depends on for how long you want to speedgrow it. For a healthy baby you need on average 10 kg salt. For an adult or late teenager you would probably need in the hundreds of kilograms. The cost varies. Usually a couple of grands for an adult. Then there's aftercosts, when you have to take care of it.
Q: Yeah it worked! But mine looks exactly like your prototype and apparently it likes ducks a lot, how do I change it?
A: You need to change the source before you compile it. It can't be changed after it's compiled, duh, that's why we provide the source code.
Q: I don't want my gf anymore. Can I dump her?
A: Yes, you can dump it, but you can't dispose it (legally at least). You'll have to find someone that wants it and give/sell it away. Good luck.
