Graphics / [Paid] Spriting work for anyone intrested!
« on: August 26, 2015, 06:11:20 pm »
Hey guys,

DJVenom is currently busy and unable to do some of the promo artwork required for the steam release of Zombie Grinder (http://zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=34484.0). Which is being aimed at around ~4th September.

So I'm currently looking for another spriter to help out. The work entails doing various bit of artwork for steam, namely trading cards, profile backgrounds, achievement icons and similar. Style needs to be similar or the same as DJ's to match the rest of the games artwork.

I'm happy to pay reasonable rates for the work. If you wish to provide continual content spriting, I'm also happy to work out a revenue share arrangement when the game goes live.

Send me a PM if your interested. You can also get me on skype: infinitus_8

Anyone here stream development?

Been doing it with the players of Zombie Grinder, and with some of the developers over at /r/gamedev.

It's quite interesting to watch how people go about things, would be fun to see some of you guys working on projects :)

Feedback / Suggestion

Big ass motherfucking link to the forum on the portal somewhere, or some more obvious way of getting to it from the portal page.

The link to the forum at the moment is hidden behind a lot of crap in the menu (I know I wrote it D:, we all make mistakes, etc). With the addition of the chat bar it further hides it. A more directly and obvious link for people visiting the site can only be a good thing.

Anyone played this before? I got that chance to play on a pre-release version last night at a gaming convention in nottingham. It will probably suite you guys well, it's like the biggest rip-off of zelda ever, but it's suprisingly fun. It's really impressive graphically, given it's made up entirely of blocks, lol.

Other Projects / [Program] Call Of Duty 4/5 - Profile Editor
« on: September 11, 2009, 07:53:48 pm »
I couldn't be bothered to rank up in cod5 (game suxs), so being me, I spent the last 3 days reverse engineering the profile file format, and made this little tool; a profile editor :3.

Update: CoD4 uses more or less the same format, so I added a cod4 profile editor in too :3.

Enjoy.

As much as I tried I just haven't had enough time due to starting drivers-ed as soon as this thing started, and using my available free time not working on this. But oh well, there's always next time.

Graphics / Logo graphics.
« on: April 14, 2009, 03:54:35 pm »
Anyone good at designing logos?

Trying to get one that fits into the top of http://www.imageboard4free.com/ nicely. Currently it just shows text which is pretty ugly. Sadly my lack of artistic talent stops me from making anything good.

So any of you able to make something? Would help me a lot :D. Current dimensions of the logo are 306x85, though it can be expanded in any direction if neccessary and color changes can be made to the theme to make it fit better.

Discussion / MDI .vs. SDI .vs. TDI
« on: April 12, 2009, 06:35:11 pm »
When using applications (in this case a map editor), what interface do you generally prefer? I'm currently working on a map editor for my stock code library. I'm hesitating a lot on which design route to take though. So I figured I might as well ask the kind of people who would use it.

When working on map design and such do you usually prefer using Multiple Document Interfaces, Single Document Interfaces or Tabbed Document Interfaces? I'm on the side of SDI myself, the interface always tends to look cleaner and easier to use, it also makes menus, toolbars and so forth far more user-friendly. However they do have a huge problem when it comes to trying to edit multiple things at once, namely that you have to open multiple application instances for each thing you are editing. MDI also seems to be deprecated, microsoft standards generally prefer people not to use it anymore.

What are you thoughts?

Contests / Contest #9: Game Development V2
« on: April 11, 2009, 09:12:05 pm »

         Recreation

         Start Date

         Finish Date

General Rules
  • You can enter this contest by replying to this topic. Your submission should be sent to me via PM before the finish date. Any entries after that may get marked down.
  • You can use any language (C++, BASIC, etc) or RAD IDE (Game Maker, MMF, etc).
  • Full source code must be provided with the submission to validate it is your work.
  • You can work on your own or in teams.
  • The game can be a recreation of anything you want, they do not have to be full recreations either. A single level or titlescreen is enough, though of course the more effort you put in the more points you will get.

Prizes
None. The prize is getting recognition from the community. Not to mention vote rigging and such in previous contests has left us not wanting to do any monetary prizes.

Description
Right guys, I'm sure you know the deal by now. This contest is pretty similar to the one we had last time, the basic idea is that you are given 2 weeks to work on a game development project, the best project after those two weeks is the winner. The project has to be a remake of another game, it can be anything from pong to pokemon, its entirely your choice. Your remake does not have to be a direct pixel-for-pixel recreation of the original, you can add new mechanics and new ideas to it, but the basic game has to be recognizable as the one you are remaking.

What can I do before the start?
If you have come up with an idea for your entry and you want to get working on it before the start of the contest, please only do work on gather/creating assets and such. Actual programming and development should not take places before the start date, to give all teams a fair chance.

I WANT TO ENTER!?
Post in this topic with the game you are thinking of recreating and we will sign you up. You can then spend the time until the start date deciding how you are going to do your project and gathering any resources neccessary for it. However if you don't intend to complete the project by the finish date, please don't enter, we want some real competition :).

« on: April 08, 2009, 04:06:05 pm »
