All my life I've detested any kind of Country music. Yet recently with having gotten into watching Hannah Montana on Disney (Im proud to be a fan, so nyeh on you! :P) I saw the movie last night and bought the soundtrack. In it, Billy Ray sang a song that I thought sounded awesome and really was digging the tunes. So I thought I'd buy his brand new album that released last month and got to listening to it tonight when i got home and I love it. All I can think is WTF? Why did I hate on such good music for all these years?

Because listening/watching anything to do with Hannah Montana instantly drops your IQ by 20 or more, therefore allowing you listen to that god awful crap.

I wonder if having been born in Texas has anything to do with it. O.o

(And you have to know me REALLY well to understand why I watch some certain Disney programs, but I wont get into that)

Nothing inherently wrong with country. I don't listen to much that's strictly country, but because of its close links with American folk, a lot of the music I listen to does have a lot in common with country.

I don't see why it gets such a bad reputation. So many people say "Oh, I like every kind of music. Except country."

You know what, that's probably right, I like some country as well... and I was born in texas... that could be the reason.

I don't like country, but I hate rap. Country music is thousands of times better than rap.

Hey, congratulations.  I recently decided that NOTHING is better than discovering a passion for a new kind of music-- it's like an entire new world of beautiful awesomeness to explore.  Enjoy it.

(not a country fan myself :P)

I am actually a big fan of Alan Jackson - mostly his older work, the newer stuff seems watered-down. Country music is alright as long as it does not get too preachy in its content. I like the genre though because I grew up in an area of the United States which had a lot of farming and liked that kind of music though; hated it at first, but it grew on me a little.

That might be a big influence on me as well. I grew up in the big city for most of my life, and when I graduated from high school, my dad moved the family out into the country so that he could teach at a small farm school. I've HATED it out here the last 7 years and have detested anything cowboy or country or farmer. Well, I still dont like farmers or the hardcore cowboys, but the country music is starting to grow on me a bit, lol.

I've always hated country music, and unlike my other genre prejudices have never gotten over it. I've lived in North Carolina all my life, too...I guess I feel out of place in my current hometown, which is basically the epitome of everything WRONG with the American Small Town Dream. Where I grew up, about 30 miles away, was a much nicer area.

I always used to hate it... Then after 2 years of working at a place that plays it 24 hours a day I now detest it :P

not a big fan of country. If you like it that's cool- I can see why some people would like it, so yeah.
