Hey everyone!
I saw the skyward sword trailer and it seemed like a decent game, but it also had that same held-back feeling that twilight princess did. In twilight princess, the gameplay didn't feel right because of the controls. Nintendo should make an old-school console game with easier gameplay.

Will you buy it?

I've already got my special edition pre-ordered. Even though I don't have a Wii.

And if you're talking about the Wii version of TP, the controls did suck. But that's because it was a hastily-assembled marketing maneuver to sell more Wiis at launch. With the Motion+, I don't think the same issues will arise. Also, there's an option to play left-handed (YES!!) so that should help too.

(also, from one Kirby Master to another... that's very close to my original username here XD)

Are you kidding?

Twilight Princess was a gamecube game, forcefully ported to the wii.
Skyward Sword is the only zelda game made from the ground up completely for the wii.
It's made to take use of the motion plus controls from the start and is probably one of the only games ever to have you use skill in the way you use the sword, not just press a button (or shake the remote like with twlight princess) and have the game do it all for you.
But that's only one tiny aspect of it, ignoring that, it's still looking to be one hell of a big, incredible adventure, and we barely know that much about it still, with all sorts of new awesome looking stuff.

I suggest you read some things like these (there are all sorts of sites writing tiny previews like these):

At this rate it may be one of the best zelda's ever made it seems.

I might get it, lol most games that come out nowadays is FPS.  Zelda SS is worth a try, also gives some people a break from fps.

I've preorderd the limited edition bundle, and am super excited about Skyward Sword. Did you know that Zelda Reorchestrated http://www.zreomusic.com/ has made versions of the trailer themes? I terrorize my boyfriend by playing those songs, humming those songs and talking about Zelda nonstop. Have been doing that for a couple of weeks now :)

If you are unsure about Skyward Sword, check out the extensive collection of knowledge on Zelda Informer: http://www.zeldainformer.com/16-skyward-sword/everything-we-know-about-skyward-sword.html

This game seriously looks like it will surpass all Zelda games before it... Happy happy joy joy!

I am very skeptical about this game...it doesn't quite excite me as some other games in the series did. But I'll probably buy it anyway. I'll go read that Zelda Informer article.

Really?
We know it's been in production for years, but everything 3DS and Wii U lately has completley over-shadowed it, but now with only a month or so left and many small details coming out here and there, it is looking to be possibly one of the best zeldas ever and am now finally really hyped for it.

Such a shame it comes out just a week or so after Elder Scrolls Skyrim...and to be honest the $/€60 I would spend next month on a game would probably go to Skyrim first...

There isn't.
The game is built for the motion plus. The combat depends on it. It's not just some gimmicky idea that could be replaced by a button, like TP was.
Of course if you're used to mashing a button to swing a sword all your life, hearing about a game that doesn't allow you to do that may get you excited, or may put you off depending on the sort of person you are I guess.
But the only way both sorts of people are going to find out how this rather new thing plays out is by forgetting their button mashing days, trying it out and seeing how they end up liking it.
Of course I've not had the chance to, but after reading quite a few articles from people that have, like the ones I posted above, it apparently adds a lot more to the game than it takes away, very different to how TP was.
If you like zelda for the adventure, combat and puzzle solving, then it sounds like it's going to be pretty good. If you liked a certain zelda because it was new and pretty at the time and had running around killing lots of things as a feature, then it may not appeal so much to you. (Although then again it does sound like the satisfaction of killing an enemy this time should be a lot higher.)

Yeah, a stamina bar doesn't sound like too much fun, but I heard you can still run normally without using it, just that it's used to get past more action like puzzles, so it's adding more of a puzzle aspect rather than limiting you running from one place to another.

I honestly don't see them putting in something that'd so blatantly make the game annoying as hell as a stamina bar that would make you walk slowly after it running out many times while trying to quickly run across some hyrule field or something.

Does anyone go to Zelda Dungeon at all? They've been unloading tons of info on SS in the past couple of months. I wasn't too excited about SS until some of the later information releases though. The thing I'm really excited about is to have upgradeable items. I think it'll be be a stronger RPG than previous Zelda's in the fact that it's going to have more choices than any previous Zelda game. It's supposed to have 50-100 hours of gameplay and 100 mins of cinematic cutscenes (which may or may not be a good thing, depending on how important and/or epic the cutscenes are, and if you can skip them). I just really like having a lot of choices and a lot of content; it makes the world feel more complete, and in a way more alive. SS appears to have a pretty interactive world too. Has anyone seen the item that is like the MC gust jar (forgot the actual name)? There is a lot of sand that can get blown away by using it, modifying to terrain and revealing treasure chests, spike balls, etc. Of course the motion+ allows for cutting things down almost exactly in the way you swing your sword too. I especailly love the spiderwebs get cut down with the sword. I think it's just got some epic interactivity that hasn't been done quite to that extent before (makes sense, but it's still cool to see it).
And SS is claimed to have the best story of any Zelda to date, so that's something I'm really looking forward to. I mean seriously, Link is training to be a knight instead of being some common villager of sorts? Zelda is not a princess and she's even Link's childhood friend? This story is about the forging of the Master Sword? Sounds like this story could be very good with some huge story elements that actually add on to the overall "Legend of Zelda". That's a story I'd love to play through. So yeah, I think this game looks and sounds amazing.

I don't own a Wii, but I really want SS, so I've been looking for a used Wii. Obviously I wouldn't get a Wii just for this game, I'd get Brawl and a few other games as well. I've been thinking about getting a Wii for a while, but SS is the only game that has really made me want it enough. And the pre-order with the motion+ controller is more than worth it. You pretty much get the controller for $20, and aren't regular Wii controllers around $35? So yeah, I'd say it's worth it.

Don't forget the CD as well. That also makes the special edition just that much more of a deal.

Everything FrozenFire said.
Plus, I really liked Wind Waker. It looked beautiful, plus the exploration aspect of it - just sailing around and coming across completely new and interesting islands and so on all the time was just a great feeling. Of course many people complained about having to sail for minutes in one direction to get on with the main quest, but SS seems to have got rid of that aspect as flying is very fast, or so I hear (plus it seems to work completely differently to how WW's sailing did), but still has little islands and things dotted around the sky for those that like that aspect, plus again it does really look beautiful.

TP was really great, but way to similar to what we've already seen. It just felt like nintendo gave in to the "fans" that just wanted another OOT and didn't like WW because they didn't like how it looked different....
So we got that and it was great while it lasted, but now I can barely remember anything of it. It was just too "normal".
But once again with SS it looks like nintendo are doing what they think is best (using "newer" minds to help develop it too apparently, which is where the upgrading aspect part of it came from I feel, which does sound like a nice new addition, as long as it makes the game fun and interesting, not just a grind, which from the previews its sounding like it will (sounding more fun and interesting, that is).) and it really does look like it may be one of the best zeldas yet, even though they've still barely shown that much.

Getting over the New nintendo handheld! (3DS) and New console at E3! (Wii U) stuff and realising a brand new zelda will be with us very soon and checking out various previews is getting me really hyped for it. It really does feel like, or probably better than christmas did as a child, haha.

If you plan on getting a wii u, then that'll be able to play wii games, but of course you'll still need the wii controllers to do that, so if you can find a cheap enough wii with controllers that'd be nice.
I gave my wii to some great friends about 3 hours or so from where I am and would love to get the game and go play it with them, but doesn't look like I'll have time to do so with uni and I have no idea what free time they'll have either, so I'm not too sure what to do either D:
One thing I do know though, is that I NEED to play this game XD

Don't forget the CD as well. That also makes the special edition just that much more of a deal.
I think that comes with either version, up until a certain time (I think the gold remote will turn into a normal coloured remote after a certain time too btw.)

As far as I've heard, the CD and gold remote were exclusive to the special edition.

I mean, that makes it seem like the CD is also a pre-order perk for the special edition, doesn't it?

Maybe it's different in Japan, but I'm pretty sure the "normal version" (without the remote) is called the "with CD pack" or something like that, and the one with the remote is called the "super special awesome edition pack", that also comes with the CD lol.
