I have been thinking about the questions people have asked long ago and other such stuff like that and have been thinking, especially after E3's Zelda showings made me feel out-dated.

Should I ditch the retro limited Nintendo 64 Polygons and textures and make it next-generation?
This means other low-end users may not be able to play it if I did so... and I do like the retro feel but now that Nintendo is re-making Ocarina of Time for the 3DS it makes me feel silly to do it when they are updating OoT.

I really want to switch to next-gen high resolution but those screen-shots kind of made me not want to (the screenshots of the supposed Unicorn Fountain)

What are your ideas, thoughts and opinions?

I think you're biting off more than you can chew if you go to modern...

I kind of have to reiterate what I said in the last thread; you're not really planning this project well enough to ever complete it. Don't concern yourself with the models yet, just get your dev stuff down first. Come up with a proper prototype, and then worry about this stuff. Models are interchangeable. Not really a concern you should be having at this point in your development.

Once again, I have to agree with Mammy. Get your gameplay elements going and only later worry about the resources. Also making high polygon models takes longer to create and also to load when testing.

BTW: the classic OOT style does not look bad either. And like Mammy said, you can always change the models (even if it would make development longer).

Why not talk about improved graphics once you have a game to improve? And you have to remember, the graphics we use will always be outdated. By the time we finish a fangame there will already be something new on the horizon from nintendo etc. There is one thing more importent than graphics anyway and that is the combination of everything else.

I'd say stick with the retro style. Not only because of the points mentioned previously, but also because it will save you a lot of time and effort.

Plus, accessibility is always a good thing. It's why some people here with Macs use Unity, so anyone can play them. The accessibility is a definite must; if you go with something next-gen, then that accessibility is lost. And that's a very bad thing.

I'd say go both. Mainly because of what Nintendo does right now.  :P

I think you should start working on it after three years of procrastination and total changes to everything about the project every five minutes.
