i don't really know about the dungeon layout-like exits and rooms, but the rest sounds like a good idea, anyother people had ideas on how they would like it?

thats where i got the idea from, I have sonic spinball too. but i am far too inexperienced with GM to take this, and no you have to move Link arouind he won't be walking byhimself.

Zelda Projects / LoZ: The Chrome Ball Chronicles(Demo .01 released!)
« on: July 10, 2006, 11:42:11 am »
Team
1.) Jackofalltrades-  In-Depth Story Develepmont/Ripper and Editor..
2.) Dlbrooks33- Idea of Game, Spriter, Beta Tester.
3.) Dark Xion- Coder.
4.) Tre Lantana- Ideas, Coder.
5.) Shanech- Beta Tester.

Well, it's finally here. ZFGC's first taste of The Legend Of Zelda: The Chrome Ball Chronicles
. I put together this demo just to try to get things rolling. There are A LOT of ideas that haven't been implemented and bugs to be ironed out yet. All graphics, resources, etc. are subject to change. Again, this was just thrown together to illustrate a game idea and by no means represents the final product.

This demo is based off of spookymagician's "pinball game engine." You'll immediately see that all I've done is added music, cosmetic changes, etc. Nothing too major on my part; I just wanted to push this project to get started. [I used unregistered GM 6.1 to edit it for those wondering.]

I had planned on taking a screenshot, but I'm having problems with my videocard currently. If someone would want to take one, it would be greatly appreciated!

Download The Legend Of Zelda: The Chrome Ball Chronicles demo 0.01
 here
 (right-click, SaveAs)

For full credit details and the game's controls, press F1 after starting the game. Also the game begins immediately once it's loaded!

Known Bugs:

The ball gets hung up on walls & sometimes the flippers
The ball is constantly bouncing. This sometimes leads to the ball bouncing back and forth in a constant loop, gradually increasing in speed
... anymore?

Known Issues:

The ball's physics could use being improved
If you get stuck, try using tilt (this will not always work and you may have to reset the ball)
There are cheap ways to rack up lots of easy points (ie: ball getting stuck in bouncing loop)
Mixed sprites/graphics
The MC Link sprite is a messy edit. I chopped off pixels so that he would fit into a 16 x 16 box.
The flipper sprites should probably be just a pixel or two longer, but I didn't feel like making the adjustments.
The "LoZ: CBC" title is on the game board itself. I think it's a bit distracting and probably should be moved to an intro screen, whatever.
Like the "LoZ:CBC" title being on the game board, I also have a Triforce graphic at the top of the board that is also probably distracting. I had thought about removing it and instead tiling a pond or something, but never got around to it.

Future plans (I think it would be nice if eventually we could get the following made in addition to the game itself):

An original looking "The Legend Of Zelda: The Chrome Ball Chronicles" title
A support banner
A custom program icon

Enjoy!

Screens

it would look perfect in the game.

906
10/10 for this game and the new dialogue, keep it up.

907
is that the rod of seasons MC style and you make the seasons shoot different things?

Spring:Swarm of Flies
Summer:Fire
Fall:Cold Air
Winter: Snowball

Or was it just custom made.

Either or is great, I love your work because you have some serious progression craving with Zelda games.  You have high-self esteem like me and I like that.  Keep this up and you could be the one to make the next Zelda game on gameboy (which I hear is coming out in 2007)

@yue:there are more Zelda Online games, but not as successful as this one.

@ OoL Team:I love your work and wish to dedicate any sprites or tiles you may need. That I have:

75%:GB style
10%:Lttp
5%:BS
10%:Other
Are these custom sprites and tiles? We don't have much use for GB sprites, but anything LTTP or even BS would be great. Nothing FS/MC though, makes the game look wEiRd.

Do you like how Ool is going so far?

do u even have to ask? I love it.the new screens look sick.Im guessing its a beach or island or w/e.maybe you'll put a wilderness area on the island then like some dungeon in the wilderness like area and with monsters n stuff. and a tornado and hurricanes and OMG marti gras...but im going way to far.I love how its going I have so much faith in you people.good luck.
It's good to know we have encouragement from you guys :).

this is going to be the first successful online Zelda game ever!!!!
You kinda have to admit that it isn't exactly a Zelda game. We've taken the Zelda series and used it as a base for our world. But, the game still has a lot of different elements. I'm not even sure if we're going to be having dungeons and item collecting. So overall, it is a bit different to your traditional Zelda game.
Some of them are, but most of them are from the Lttp tileset made by Orion, you could credit him cause believe me most of his npc tiles take up 2 spaces XD.

this is going to be the first successful online Zelda game ever!!!! and btw, who voted Hmmm, I will kill you XD.
lol
sorry, I was the first one to say "hhhmmm" XD
You better watch out on the game XD, and you should have picked yes.  Now whos the idiot that put no XD.
