So, I'm loosly in the market for a gaming laptop... I need something so that I don't have to lug my big ass desktop around with me anymore. I've checked out Dell and Alienware's websites with some interesting results but here's my main problem, I can't apply for a credit card through them because, well my credit sucks. So, that won't change for awhile but it leaves me wondering if there are any other online companies that build custom, gaming laptops that aren't rip offs so that I can shop around for the time money becomes available. Any ideas or suggestions?

As much as it seems bliss to have the portability of a laptop for gaming. I really do not advice it; desktops are far better, and will always be better, for gaming.

As for help on which laptop to choose, Dell XPS and Alienwares are all I know of... which leads bang into your problem.

I agree with bertfallen, but Alienware overprices their PCs way too much. I would go whitebox.

I do fully agree with the overpricing and the fact desktops are infinitly better for gaming, I dunno, I've been in a phase that I want everything mobile. It may pass, may not, I have a great desktop for gaming so I'm willing and knowing about the sacrifices for the laptops. If you come across a site/ad in your travels just keep me posted if you think about.

Not only are desktops significantly better for gaming, but they're MUCH cheaper.  And gaming laptops ALWAYS have overheating problems-- and generally suck in every way.

Well I suppose if they suck so bad, maybe that's why they have the overheating problems? Fans should always blow out, not suck in :D
