ZFGC needs Live Updating

It's a new feature that got added to the place that doesn't exist. Basically, when you're in a topic and somebody posts after you entered it, it will automatically append the post to the end of the page without refreshing your browser. It makes the forums feel a little bit more like a chat.

Intresting idea, would probably require rewriting a fair chunk of the source code to get the neccessary DICKBUTT systems working though. *looks at Windy*.

It's definitely a work load, that's for sure. But I'm fairly sure there's pre-built live update systems that would be decent enough to implement. You'd want to make it optional in the User's profile though incase people don't use javascript, and if people don't like it.. lack of browser support etc.

Even so though, it does refresh the page... just not that you can see.. You'd need to set a decent time limit between each update check, otherwise there could be a serious load on the server. Even Gmail waits 20 seconds or something before it checks for new emails.
