Ok, so I went into my router's settings to find the WEP, and I saw there were 4 fields for different WEPs to choose from, so I (very retardedly) entered another one in the next one down and chose that. After finding it didn't work, my laptop couldn't connect wirelessly, so I went back in via a wired connection and put it back, but now my laptop can't connect to the router at all. I get the same old message I might not be within range, blah blah blah. And basically I've !@#$% up. The thing is, my sister's computer works fine (the reason being I can get here), yet mine just absolutely will not connect. Halp? And yes, I do take this as a hint not to !@#$% with settings again, no matter how desperate I am for Xbox Live.

Try repair connection?  And also try restarting.

I know that for some very odd reason, my computer will randomly disconnect to the wired internet... Except it doesn't say "disconnected" or "cannot connect" or "ethernet cable unplugged."  It just doesn't work XD  And for some reason, putting my computer to sleep or restarting always fixes it.

Does anybody have *any* clue why this is happening? XD  The last thing I did to my computer before this started happening was putting in my new quad-core CPU... But how the hell could a CPU do this? >.<

(Edit: sorry for hijacking your thread a bit, btw.)

UPDATE: I've even tried jacking into unsecured networks, but it won't even connect to them. But if it can locate networks, why can't it connect?

I randomly get kicked off the network, and when I try to connect, Vista tells me that [brot] is a hidden network or your wireless network key is incorrect (paraphrased). Both are false, and I need to reset the router to fix it. I'm also on a laptop. My dad's new XP laptop has the same problem. Can anybody help with that?
