so my friend stole a giant bag of ketchup out of the ketchup pumping things and brought it to our table and we took it in the bathroom and i smashed it over the sink and kicked it around the bathroom and smeared it everywhere and we all took turns kicking the ketchup out of it and when we were done it looked like an african village was murdered in the bathroom

mamo hacked the game

and well, it doesn't look like we'll have the demo ready by 2008 seeing as it's almost the second of january here, and I doubt it's still 2007 to anyone else in the world..
but we've made some damn good progress and it should be ready soon

Nice, unlimited...uh, jump.  That would be a pretty cool unlockable in the final product, though I'm not sure how you would go about efficiently doing that...

Anyway, as others have said, no rush with the demo, (though by judging what I've already played, you guys could release a damn fine demo right now if you wanted to).  I'm eager to see how things have progressed since last time I played it, but I think I'll wait to test out the current, (or maybe I should say "future"), build whenever you release the demo.  If you'd like me to test out the current build, I'm down, but I guess I don't see myself as  any different from the majority of the members here so I'm OK with waiting.

Anyway, for anyone that is skeptical, the demo will be well worth the wait.  As you can see from the various gameplay that .TakaM has posted, the gameplay has evolved quite a bit from where it was in the original demo he released.  .TakaM and cocopuffs are making a game that essentially owns the majority of current, (and even a good percentage of past, IMO), 2D platformers.  It's a blast to play, and whenever they release a public demo...trust me, the wait will be worth it.

[/hype machine]
I have no idea how the gameplay has evolved in the past month or so, (maybe it hasn't at all...that'd be fine also honestly), but I can assure you that this game will be professional to the utmost extreme once finished.

Thanks guys

I can no longer count the number of times I've said this, but we're so close to having it ready
It's just we'll be working to get one thing done, then think "you know what would compliment this well? a brand new enemy!" or something, and then there's always a few glitches to clean up, re-balance everything etc.
Today we discussed how we'd handle the multiple paths in the story, and while it's been simplified a bit, I like the compromise.

(wip)
especially since it means we won't need to include some sort of "level select" option

Some of you might think Twinsen does nothing new, and while that's true, remember that's true for just about everything.
During the course of developing this game, I've watched a lot of open forum discussions and presentations about video game design and the philosophies behind them, and I've realized the smartest thing to do is simply make the game you want yourself and have it as god damn polished as possible.
And I truly think the last (commerical) game to follow that philosophy was Yoshi's Island on the SNES.

So while it may not be something "new", It's not trying to be

and domo, I think since the last build you played we've added all the crouching abilities.
But to be honest, it's hard enough to keep track for myself when new stuff was added, so I'm not sure if there was something else too

As awesome as it looks, you need to put a "Warning: May Cause Severe Epilepsy" sign somewhere :). Lots of flashing lights. I love it though.

It's coded in GML. The script based language of GameMaker.

Before you go off on your vacation, I thought I should ask if there have been any updates or if you've had any contact with cocopuffs.  Well, have you?  Your blog on 64Digits hasn't been updated for a while, so I'm guessing there aren't any major updates, but I'd still like to know.  Hopefully things are going smoothly.

(Sorry for the grave-dig, I would have done this in a PM but I'm guessing other members might be curious on the status of everything as well.)
