As you all know (probably), I have been getting all the Final Fantasies (Only FF6 left!!!) and then it struck me. Where did the idea of RPGs come from and when did it come from? So I am now on a quest/task/challenge type thing to find out. I need your guys helps. I will start with the most obvious and if you know of an RPG that is older, post it and the year of release. Here's the oldest I have found

Dragon Quest was the first RPG for the style of RPG. I don't even think people were thinking of rpgs for the nes in 83...lol...Wasn't Mario just born on the NES?

It was just the first Japanese RPG and first RPG on an 8-bit console, there were plenty before it. The list I made in my last post only mentions major "firsts" in the genre, sub-genres, and related genres, (RPG, Action-Adventure, MMORPG, etc.). If I were to include the all the other RPGs made between the beginning and end of the list it would be MUCH longer. Logged
