Will that pixel filter be a toggle-able option? It's not terrible but I feel the GBC colours pop out so much better without it :)

Been a weird 5 years.

https://imgur.com/a/9MbzUxx is the link to the full project now. I know, I'm a few games behind, still.

I'm assuming you're not going to do Breath of the Wild?  ;) That would be an insane undertaking.

It looks great! Of course Oracle of Seasons actually started out as a GBC version of the original Zelda hence some of the map similarities.

Are you using Game Maker Studio 2 now? I got the first one for a great price so don't really feel like dropping more money on a new version.

Discussion / Re: Nintendo just removed all fan games on Gamejolt

Worrying times, it really makes you think twice about investing hundreds of hours into a fan game only for it to be slapped with a take down notice. From the looks of that list it seems 42 Zelda games were taken down.

Right now I'm only working on Zelda mini games so that if they do get a DMCA request I won't feel too bad as I won't have spent too long on it. For those who have spent literally years developing their game, ouch :'(

I was thinking this morning about the possibility of making fan games using the same mechanics and gameplay as they were intending, but with all copyrighted resources such as graphics, trademarked names, sounds, .obj etc files files replaced with 'placeholder' resources when releasing the game for download, the sort of things you find on opengameart.org.

There would then be another website that hosts resource packs that contain the more sensitive materials, the user downloads the pack for the game they are playing and replaces the /resources/ folder and voila, you have a Zelda fan game!

EDIT: Another thought, for a place like ZFGC where we tend to use the same graphics it might be the case that you can create 'universal' resource packs that can be used across multiple games easily. Lets say you are making a game using ALTTP graphics and sounds. You use the resource pack when designing the game, release the game using placeholder graphics and text e.g. 'The Large End of Zoldo - The Shattered Orb'. You simply state at the top of your post that if you want to have Zelda graphics you should download the ALTTP resource pack from a place you have no knowledge of  ;) and add it to the game folders.

Then Nintendo can't issue a DMCA notice for your game because if you have been thorough there are no infringing materials you have created.

The graphics look lovely :o I would love to see this released on consoles, I see you are using a 640x360 resolution which can be scaled up perfectly to 1080p.

Nice one Leduardo  :)

Any chance of re-uploading the previous images in this topic? It seems all your images uploaded to Imageshack before January 2014 have been deleted since Imageshack moved to a subscription model.

Feedback / Re: What Can We Do To Get More Life Here?
« on: April 26, 2014, 01:00:29 pm »
I actually believe that the page itself isn't very attractive. I mean, just a blue scheme with a board with the latests posts. And I'm saying it in a good way, when I first got into here, I thought this actually was dead, it doesn't seem very alive. Of course, the aesthetics aren't the main priority, I know, but if someone finds the page, it may not seem very attractive to stay over here.
I agree, the site could use a redesign, make it nice and modern like the landing pages for APIs, Libraries and Engines we get nowadays. With their fancy scrolling effects and flat designs.

I think the colours are a bit too bright for him, the hat should be a darker red and his hair looks pillow shaded.. The angle of his hair isn't quite right as well, his quiff is centre right from a head on perspective, check out this model:

You can 4 different perspectives on that model to help you draw the sprite :)

For extra detail you can check out this nice big picture:

As for colours you could just use the colours from that image, don't worry about sticking straight to that palette, its not complete and this is spirit tracks anyway :P

But its a good start :D
