Other Projects / Re: URDE - Metroid Prime re-implementation
« on: July 09, 2018, 01:09:58 am »
Been a while since I posted here, but we've made great progress since I announced the project here in 2016.
We're now in-game and quickly progressing to the point of Frigate being beatable via normal means (we're missing a number of features, and have a large number of bugs, but we're making excellent progress).

Other Projects / URDE - Metroid Prime re-implementation
« on: August 24, 2016, 01:54:18 am »
URDE is an attempt to retread the steps of Retro Studios' talented software engineers and completely reimplement the engine from the ground up. The ultimate goal is to faithfully recreate the engine using modern programming techniques and language extensions. It is a runtime that is rewritten from scratch using C++ from pure PPC assembly, methods include static and dynamic analysis in IDA and Dolphin's debugger.

Currently there are only two active programmers scouring the the game to achieve this, jackoalan, and myself, but anyone who wishes is more than welcome to join in and help out in anyway you can.

Looks interesting, any plans on releasing a Linux version? I'm basically completely on Linux and OS X now, but I'd definitely like to check this out.

I've been a member since right before the switch to GA, and I remember what a debacle that turned out to be.

I cracked the JPC format and extracted the textures from them so here is the lot!
I included the BTIs in case you want to convert them again for whatever reason.

Graphics / ALTTP Raw Tile dump
« on: August 04, 2013, 01:45:18 am »
I went through and organized each and every GFX*.bin file for easy ripping purposes, while I know a good percentage of the games tiles have been dumped from the game, I just thought that this would be useful for the ones that haven't been dumped yet.

Another thing to note is that your generating resources in a loop, i bet that if you go into your task manager on whatever OS you use you'll notice the memory usage going up faster than a rocket ;P

also when using headers in C++ you should really use either #pragma once or header guards to prevent multiple declaration errors,

also remove the function defs from your main, you should try and keep main.cpp as lean as possible.

Coding / Re: A Random Level Generator Script (
« on: April 16, 2013, 08:28:29 am »
Your script is pretty good, but it could use some optimizations, I'll only give you a few hints though:
1) Your idea of using data structures is spot on
2) Your for loop could be unrolled a bit
3) Try and use as small a loop as possible in game maker

otherwise excellent work.

I'm a new admin, so I wouldn't be the one to talk to about affiliation, try to get in contact with MG-Zero or Starforsaken101, and they'll be the ones to decide.
