monitor calibration..help anyone?

Well, I have came to realize that my monitor has huge problems, it kinda shows shadow to the sides of a black square box in paint(but t never ends and it is a huge issue since i can't sprite good) but I want to know a good calibration method, since it could fix the problem.. any ideas?

If its a separate monitor than you should be able to flip open that little panel/mess around with those buttons until things get back to normal. Or do what my MS Office teacher does, which is hit the monitor over the top until it finally stops working completely and then go get a new one. lol
