Really interesting Zelda stuff
« on: February 17, 2015, 09:33:10 am »
Intentionally left "hecking" out of the title because ROM hacks are cool too. Since this wasn't posted on ZeldaInformer, I figured ZFGC could use some alternative sources for "fan-related" activity.

Majora's Mask running at 60FPS.

A Link to the Past MSU-1 aka Live Audio and Cutscenes in the SNES version.

Yes, this can run on hardware given you have a cart that implements MSU1. SD2SNES is currently the only one that does. Or, you can emulate this by using higan/bsnes, which is probably the emulator you should be using for SNES since it's cycle-accurate. Snes9x is cool, too.

EDIT: This MMX track is !@#$% sick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ2Se5e0d7o#t=650  ...and this SMW heck is pretty interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opsorqVVkuk

tl;dr The MSU1 is an addon chip much like the SuperFX was to the SNES. It's basically Byuu's version of the SNES-CD. And let me tell you, the potential it has for ROM hacks is pretty kickass. I'm glad to see the ROM hecking community finally embrace this technology after 3-4 years of MSU1 kind of going stale. The SNES has an awesome library of games, so seeing things like this which are essentially "DX" hacks to breathe fresh air into the library is cool. Really shows a testament of how dedicated some people are to some things, and it makes you wonder what we would do without them considering a good chunk of history would be lost without them. Games are basically one of the most essential bits to our culture today, so yeah. Whether you're blue, black, white, yellow, brown or male/female, or both, or neither, you've most likely played a game. Anyways sorry for going on a tangent.

it's pretty cool seeing MM at 60FPS.  I didn't get a chance to check out the other "heck".

Everything said - that is a lovely avatar picture there.  Who is that handsome man? He wears a nice oversized suit.
