The plan is actually for her to be defeated by Ganondorf at a later time after resurrecting him, where he'll take over as the main antagonist.

Sounds too much like Cia... I'm sorry, but IMHO this "plot twist" is incredibly overused in the Zelda series, and in video games in general. Not that I'm shooting you down or anything, but I'm just saying, perhaps an alternative situation could be brainstormed...

I personally haven't played Hyrule Warriors so I can't say much about how similar it is to Cia, but yeah it's a common theme in the Zelda games. It doesn't matter much at this point as I'm not as concerned with the entire story until after I release a playable alpha with a full dungeon/boss.

This gives an idea on what I'm doing currently(though outdated and missing some details):

I've also decided to have alternative evolutions like these:

Those, for example, can be obtained by devolving your creatures and leveling them up holding an item.

Do you mean abduct with like, soul gems? :P

It would be funny if all of the girls he abducted later became his pokemon in a boss battle.

Veran was the antagonist in Oracle of Ages.

I'm glad you came back to update here!
I was so interested in this project, that I came over to the PokeCommunity from time to time just to make sure it was still alive, after never playing a Pokemon game! :P

Thanks for keeping interest! I tried branching out yesterday and posting on ZeldaDungeon.Net assuming they were an active community, but it appears not lol... people's interest in this project is what keeps me going. (That and I love working on it!) I scoped out Zelda Universe but they don't seem to have a proper area for fan games, I might try another site soon if I can find one because right now here and PokeCommunity are the only places that are replying on this and I'd really like to have more input from ZELDA fans lol.

Still though, this felt a lot like a comeback somehow, and I love the new stuff!
Odolwa is then, a legendary right?
Also, can normal Pokemon evolve into legendaries?
Again, I've never played, but I was wondering what you were going to do for King Dodongo.

Odolwa is the first boss. Depending on the boss choices I make for the 8 prospective dungeons, it's possible for a creature to evolve into something that's on that level... like, I don't think King Dodongo will be a boss, but I'm not ruling out having regular Dodongos(not Dimitri) evolve into him.

Last thing:
I read somewhere you were going to have four dungeons, but that doesn't quite give you the chance to show off the entire world that Zelda has to offer.
You already have a forest dungeon, but Zelda games typically have some kind of fire, ice/water, sand, sometimes dark/shadow, and a final dungeon, like Ganon's Tower.
If you don't include every environment, you might not be able to show just quite every race and creature Zelda has.

That's just that bit of info I wanted to know.
I'm really thinking of contributing to this!
Good luck!

Early on I thought I wasn't going to have more than 4 dungeons but I've realized I'm more than capable of doing it, and it's actually planned now. However, for the first demo release, there will only be 1 dungeon, and it might not even be a dungeon that'll make it into the final version of the game. The first demo won't even have much of a story, it'll primarily be a tech demo to introduce Pokemon players to Zelda and Zelda players to the Pokemon engine.

Let me know what you're thinking of doing any time you're thinking of contributing! ESPECIALLY with ideas. I'm working around a lot of limitations with the Pokemon engine, here's an example: I want to include a Dark World, and although I wanted to make the tiles different colored for that dark world initially, I realized I might run into a consistency issue with my new battle backgrounds being so bright and Hyrule-y looking (That background image is actually a heavily altered battle background from Fire Emblem on DS haha). There may be a way around this however.

Also, here's a clip of what I put on Zelda Dungeon yesterday as far as the story goes:

Quote from: InnerMobius
I've had a few ideas tossed around since I started this project on how I was going to handle the story, but almost everything's been scratched. In fact, the first demo of this game won't really have much of a story, instead it'll just throw you into the world so you can experience what Pokémon feels like in a Zelda world.

Here's the basics of what I do wish to keep, though:

The name Sacred Paradox was an allusion to an idea I had for the story that didn't quite work out, but I still love the name. The previous name was Echoes of Time (suggested by a member at PokeCommunity), but I found out that was a Final Fantasy game and changed the name.
The idea for the 'sacred paradox' was going to be the kidnapping of Zelda. I'm still not set on this, but I believe I'm going with an altered version of Veran or an altogether new villain as the main villain until Ganon is resurrected. Veran would abduct Zelda (after mistakenly abducting a few other girls like Malon) and would use her to enter the Sacred Realm. From there, she would use the power of the Triforce to rule over Hyrule, with the plan to fuse the world of light(a custom interpretation of Hyrule) and the dark world(a custom mix of the dark world and the twilight realm). Link must go through dungeons collecting the 8 sage medallions (might go with something else) to gain the power of the sages and ultimately defeat Veran and save Zelda... but at some point, Veran resurrects Ganon and he betrays her.

So as you guys can see, I still have a lot of room for improvement here.

Firstly, you have GOT to try out a Pokémon game.

Secondly, if you want "every environment" represented, you might need more than that list you mentioned in order to cover all that Zelda has to offer...

Thanks for the links!

I do intend to have the staple areas. This version of Hyrule is intended to be a mixed representation of a bunch of versions of Hyrule, so basically most of what you'd see in ALttP and OoT for dungeon styles. If things really start rolling with this project I'd even like to tackle a bonus secret dungeon at the end based on Majora's Mask.

(I'm putting in a feature where you can devolve any of your party members with an item and also planning on a few secret evolutions... such as this one. I guess it's not a secret anymore lol:

EDIT:

I also just thought I'd bring up another little thing I added that the majority of the PokemonCommunity users wouldn't understand as a reference... The salesman that will sell you the soul gems(pokeballs)... Vasu.

Get it? ;D

Haha, this is absolutely fantastic. The graphics look really sweet too! I'm loving Odolwa, I assume he's like one of the legendaries?

It's also interesting, because people are always like, "oh, pokemon is about capturing animals and forcing them to fight, it's terrible", it seems like Link is taking a kind of morally ambiguous route here by imprisoning beings at least as smart as he is (Gorons, Zoras) and forcing the to do his bidding. Unless you're kind of going the route that the pokemon Ash Grey heck does, where certain pokemon (bulbasaur, squirtle, etc) agree to come with you in an event, and the minor pokemon can be caught regularly. Have you considered doing that with creatures that it might come off a little weird that Link has imprisoned, like, a Zora in a crystal? When that happened to Din in Oracle of Seasons, or when Nyru was forced to do Veran's bidding in Oracle of Ages, those were kinda evil things. Maybe in your game you'd talk to a Zora who would agree to fight for you, and it's not like a weird enslaving thing?

Or, you could just totally roll with the weirdness of it, because that's actually cool too. Kind of a hilarious, awkward, morally ambiguous, goofy mechanic :p  (definitely no offense intended with that remark, I love the idea of this game)

Haha, yeah I get you. I haven't played Ash Grey, but yeah it's planned to be like that. You'll obtain them during the story events, but they won't necessarily be important to the story. The same goes for Epona, if you complete a sidequest at Lon Lon, you'll get Epona. I was going to remove the bicycle feature as Epona to have minecarts, but my good friend Bela over at PokeCommunity thinks I can still have both... so Epona will be both a mount and a creature to fight with. :)
Haha.. your imagination is the limit! Your thread reminded me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hvx4xXhZMrU

Thanks haha :D And yeah, I'm running into a few issues that aren't really comparable to Retro City Rampage, but can be stated as similar in other ways I guess, but there's always ways around things :)

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA:
ECHOES OF TIME SACRED PARADOX

A FireRed heck

[EDIT MARCH 2015: Haven't changed this first post since August 2014. The game is drastically different now. I'll update the post later, but right now it serves for a good comparison for how much progress I've made :) ]

This is a heck of Pokemon: FireRed that introduces the characters and creatures of the Zelda universe, completely replacing all things Pokemon. Link will capture and battle monsters to save Zelda and Hyrule from Ganondorf's terror.

STORY:

Imagine the game doesn't play like a Pokemon game at all. Instead, it's like a Gameboy Zelda game but with Pokemon battles as the new game mechanic. There are no gyms, instead, there are dungeons. There's no Pokemon League, but a final boss. No Pokemon Centers, instead, Fairy Fountains.

In this story, you'd assume the role of Link, but without a sword.
Instead, as we've been coming up with in this thread, Link will use his Triforce of Courage to use the power of Farore to capture creatures in Gems. The higher quality Gem, the higher catch rate.

Here's a rough draft to the beginning of the game:
Show content
The Festival of the Sages is happening at Saisei Village outside of Hyrule Castle. Link is to play a role in escorting the Princess Zelda from the Castle to the festival. After going north of Saisei Village to the castle and meeting up with the princess, she waits for him in the castle courtyard while the King's adviser briefs Link on the ceremony. When Link exits the castle, he immediately notices the castle guards have been slain aside from the one still guarding Zelda, and Ganondorf approaches. A storm starts and Ganondorf thwarts the guard protecting Zelda by summoning a minion. Link runs in to save her, but is knocked out.

Link awakens in a fairy fountain. Farore explains that Ganondorf has found a way to corrupt the Sacred Realm, using Zelda as a catalyst to open and maintain his gate. Monsters have appeared all over Hyrule, and citizens have become delusional. They all believe Ganondorf is the ruler of Hyrule and very few know of the Sages. Link must retrieve the Artifacts of Age from the far reaches of Hyrule to ultimately enter the sacred realm and rescue Princess Zelda, and restore Hyrule. To do so, Farore bestows Link the power to use magic crystals found through the land to tame monsters and raise them to defeat Ganondorf's evil forces.

Farore gives Link the choice between one of three companions to start his journey, a Deku, Zora Baby or Goron Kid. Link chooses one and Farore leaves on a note that if he does not stop Ganondorf before he takes control of the Sacred Realm then Hyrule will perish.

When Link leaves the Fairy Fountain, he finds himself back in Saisei Village. The citizens are all hiding in their homes, as Ganon's Castle Guards terrorize them. He cannot leave the village until he visits the Happy Mask Shop, where he meets the Happy Mask Salesman.

He has been sent on a mission by Nayru to assist the Hero of Time. The Mask Salesman will act as a guide to Link for where to go and for what. Mysteriously, he will appear in towns across Hyrule and offer to store Link's companions until he needs them again. Link will need to visit the fairy fountains to heal his wounded companions. Crystals to obtain new companions will be found scattered around, and some merchants will sell them (Beadle maybe, maybe the Goron merchant too?).

Link's first quest sends him through the Lost Woods to the Deku Palace to retrieve the first Artifact of Age, the Artifact of Flora.

SCREENSHOTS:

This isn't yet inserted as I feel it's missing something(Like the sword behind the logo, but something unique to this game), but here's a mockup of the titlescreen:

CREATURES:

Not based on one specific Zelda game, it could have monsters from all of the Zelda games, obtainable and trainable, and also evolving.

-Here's a page where you can find Zelda enemies-

Different evolutions that don't exist in the Zelda games could be created, if they seem to be in a Zelda style.

Bosses will be like Legendaries :)

Tiles and overworld graphics will be in a revamped variant of the Gameboy Color Zelda games, drawing inspiration from other 2D Zelda games, particularly the Capcom games Oracle of Seasons and Ages. For now, I'm only inserting the basic tiles with new palettes, as later in production they may be revamped, but we need the basic building blocks for something to start, right?

So...
Instead of a bike, Epona.
Instead of Running shoes, Pegasus boots.
Surfing could be changed through ASM to using a key item, flippers.

I'm reaching out to ZFGC for story ideas and potentially some help with graphics... and maybe even midis, as there seems to be a lack of them from the Oracle games on the net.

This heck is the first of it's kind and it's been going for only about a month but seems to be gaining quite a bit of traction over at PokeCommunity... Though some are saying it might do better on a Zelda site. Let me know what you think!

As a side note, I know the name is similar to Echoes of Aurelia. This wasn't intended when me and the users came up with the name over at PokeCommunity, as this project was originally going to be called TLOZ: The Sacred Realm, but it was decided against because you'll only spend a short while in the Sacred Realm. Instead, Echoes of Time refers to what happens when Ganondorf enters the sacred realm and instances of many different versions of Hyrule are present in one Hyrule.

The Windwaker/Minish Cap ChuChus evolve into the Majora's Mask ChuChus, and then maybe those'll evolve into the ones from Skyward Sword, only in appearance though as they'll all be electric types.

I've since edited the WW/MC ones to be smaller so it's a bit more apparent.

Maybe it could evolve into a Mad Jelly, or Cho Worm.
I would suggest a Big Chu, but that would mean reversing the order of the evolution, or making it go back to looking like a WW one, which would be weird. :P

Why not base the shiny version off Rare Chu's from TP? Not in shape, but you know, yellow, sparkling, and whatnot.

The third form is Skyward Sword's ChuChu, just haven't gotten around to spriting it yet. About the colors, there may be different spawns for green and red chuchus anyways, depending on how this game works out certain enemies may have a tougher version of the same enemy (higher base stats) in different colors.

I just hit 200 posts over at PokeCommunity, so I made this video:

Here are a list of all enemies in Zelda, sorted by type:
http://zeldawiki.org/Category:Enemies_by_type

Here are a list of all races in Zelda:
http://zeldawiki.org/Races

I wouldn't suggest naming any specific characters as a creature final evolution.

For Goron for example, why not go:
Baby Goro > Goron > Biggoron

Also, I think Goron would more likely be a rock type, because they don't really associate with fire, other than growing bombs, they are just resistant to it.

Yup, thought of all that before, dxceptmi said ground but youd be right that theyre rock not ground. Yeah, now that I'm thinking of it, theres no reason why I would need a fire type starter.

So, it's a heck after all.
I'm more used to Zelda hecking myself, even though I'm working on an originally coded game with Cheerful Sage, but I know that hecking in the Zelda world is very limited.

However, I do know it can vary greatly from game to game.
Since it looks like you're an experienced modder on that forum, I want to know:
How limited is Pokemon hecking?

For instance, are dungeons really a plausible idea?
And how crazy is the idea of your heck, possible or not?

(BTW, I don't think you should replace pokeballs at all. I think a dimensions colliding kind of story is a lot more fun than a Zelda parody.)

We're replacing Pokeballs, and it's not a parody at all, in fact this is intended to be an all new Zelda game, the only difference being the combat mechanic is switched to Link being a monster tamer. Pokeballs are being replaced by crystals, and only those who hold the power of the triforce can capture them, or at least that's what we've come up with in the thread so far haha.

Dungeons are completely possible, Pokemon Häcking(sorry, I hate this heck stuff) isn't very limited at all anymore, at least for Fire Red. There are many great tools and many people with coding knowledge that can implement all sorts of cool stuff. Mapping is very easy, too. :)

I haven't gotten around to making their backsprites yet, but here's a sampler of the starters:

This looks really interesting, I'll be following this daily, for sure.

Have you thought about modding or coding a fan-game based on this?
A Hybrid of Pokemon and Zelda could go really well, especially if you took in certain aspects of both respective games.

I've never played Pokemon, but I definitely would play this, eventually, anyway. (I may want to play my first Pokemon game before I do so)

If this goes on awhile, I can't wait to see the bosses rockin the spots of legendary Pokemon, if that's how that'll go, anyway.

That's the plan :)

The main thread for the game is over at Pokecommunity.

Right now I'm working on the Deku's backsprite. (He'll be like the new Bulbasaur)

EDIT: Finished. It's up in the first post :)
