Entertainment / Re: Wii Music
« on: October 25, 2008, 07:41:38 pm »
Hate to contribute to what will probably end in flame wars, but I've been meaning to get my feelings about Wii Music out for a while now. Now, everyone knows that Nintendo has been changing their aim to casual games lately (well, I see it as them appealing to a different audience in between their "hardcore" games, but thats a story for another day), but in the past these games have at least had a point. In Wii Sports, you can win and you can lose, in Wii Play you go for high scores, and I don't think anyone thinks of Wii Fit as a game, but the goal is basically to get or stay fit. But Wii Music is different. In Wii Music there is no goal. It won't teach you how to play an instrument. There are no scores to be had. You can't win and you can't lose. All the game consists of is swinging your arms in a way that slightly resembles playing an instrument. Yes, I'm sure at least some people will find that fun, but I'm not even sure how many casual gamers will enjoy a video game that lacks anything resembling a video game.

You might as well download a pirated version of this game so you won't get those annoying ads...
Just because they make you put up with ads doesn't mean you should pirate the retail version. Most games would never do something like this.

Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, although I mostly stick to the manga.

Inb4 someone tries to argue that DBZ is for adults.

Damn, I was going to get one of these. Guess I'll get a PSP 2000 instead.

Why does everyone assume it wouldn't be optional? It's probably just for parents who don't want their kids to hear certain things, beit while playing an M rated game or an E rated game.

Cause clearly he's not really a cop, he's an evil robot master.
He clearly is a corrupted cop.
He's clearly Wily's fake robot cop from the intro of the game.

I really don't understand why they don't make an effort, the Wii has one of the largest install bases of the next gen systems, I'd be pouring my money into that system especially with such a  limited number of "core" games. Wii owners are definitely thirsty for some coreness.
Because the kind of gamers the 360 Dead Rising was aimed at probably already have a 360. They said in an interview that the Wii version would be dumbed down for the Wii's audience. Of course, since it isn't a minigame collection it'll probably sell horribly. I don't get why Capcom thought it would be a better idea to port Dead Rising to the Wii then to port it to the PS3. PS3 version would both be easier to make and probably sell more copies. The only good thing that would come out of this Wii port would be if Frank West was in the next Smash Bros game. He'd be a great character. He's covered wars you know. I'd rather have Mega Man in the next Smash though. Maybe Frank wearing the full Mega Man costume could be an alternate costume.

^ He means the Classic Megaman, as opposed to X, .NET, ZX, etc, not necessarily the age of the games.
Walnut is right in his assumtion. Most people refer to the first series of Mega Man games as the "Classic" series. What would you sugest I call it Mamoru?

EDIT: Just beat Mega Man 1 for NES! I never used the pause trick either. :)

Longshot, Farore's Wind, Ocarina of Time, Zora's Mask, its so hard to choose which one! :(

0. Cause i just suck that much.

This for me too.
4 people have said that, but only two have voted for that option. >_>

Also, as a side question for anyone who beat Mega Man 1, did you use the pause trick to get past any of the bosses?

Wow. I didn't know there were so many spin-off games based on Classic Mega Man before I started making this poll. :o Since I'm weird I decided I had to have all of the spin-offs that you could beat on the list. Anyways, I started playing the original Mega Man games for the first time recently, so I decided to make a poll to see which Mega Man games other people have beaten.

So far I've beaten Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, The Power Battle, and The Power Fighters.

Wow. I didn't know there was a song version of that story. Awesome! :D

« on: October 05, 2008, 07:07:32 am »
Nintendo announced Sin & Punishment 2 and it's like nobody here gives a !@#$%! Did you assholes not play the first game or what?
There's no topic about it because there isn't much to discuss. All we know is its a sequal to the original, and that's pretty much it. All of that was discussed in the topic about Nintendo's press conference.

In case you didn't then be ashamed and get it through Virtual Console. Or download the !@#$% wad and install it with Wad Manager as I did.
That's nothing to be proud of. If more people had pirated it like you did, then NoA wouldn't even be releasing it in America. If you're going to pirate something, pirate games that are guaranted to sell, not the niche titles that are being given a chance to prove itself in the English speaking market.

« on: October 05, 2008, 02:33:53 am »
I only chose the ones I've beaten on an actual console (2, 5, 6, and whatever number Twilight is), not ones I've gone back and beaten on an emulator (1, 3, and The Minish Cap).

And I have a saved game near the end of The Wind Waker but for some reason I never bothered to try to beat it.
I was going to ask you why you know the Zelda games by number, but it made me realise that I know the Zelda games by number. BTW, Minish Cap is 12 and Twilight Princess is 13.
