Hey! Welcome to the forums!!!

Your teaser looks exceptionally teasing! Would you happen to have any descriptions or anything to add? Generally when people add projects here, they develop their first post with some story and some general gameplay elements. Maybe you could excite the crowds with some kick-ass descriptions?

:D!

While I can't speak to the previews you may have, the initial image you posted could use some work. It has glaring pixel artifacts and the lack of blending around the subtitle "A Hero's Destiny" seems kind of sloppy; e.g., if you made that in MSPaint you would have been able to have it transparently placed to where it wouldn't look like it was placed in a rectangular box like that.

Otherwise, welcome to the forums. I saw in your user title description that you are into Game Maker. There are people in the Coding boards who can help you with that if you need it. Oh, though, are you making the project in LTTP, Minish Cap, or some other style? There are a lot of graphical resources too here which may assist you in aspects of your project creation.

I will be watching this,We could use more active projects here, hope there actually already is something you can show us except the title screen. it doesnt really tell us anything about your project.

Good luck with this project of yours, and if you need any help you're already at the proper forums for it.

I really like the tile-work you did (makes the world feel like it could turn into something explorable), it complements Sahittam's engine features well. Not too sure of the story yet; it's one of those too early to tell what the story is going to morph into.

Hmm, looking good.  Just make sure you give the proper credits to whom they are due.
The new HUD is .Yue's and you are using Sahittam's engine.

Interested in seeing the maps you come up with.  :)  The Hyrule Castle music sounds awesome.

Nice man, your game shares a resembles to Shat's Zelda Engine. If you need his textbox too I remade it to look like the one from OOT/MM in case you need, but will need to polish it up a bit though.

lol same here, ran slow when I started planting bombs everywhere, but how Shat coded it learn a bit from him, mainly how to fix up the textbox and such.
Don't think there is a demo though, just screens.

EDIT:
You need some FSA/FS layers? That lava area could use a fog background, but its nice though.

I'm 2 minutes in, and many complaints.

Why does everyone move so slow? It makes the game SO tedious, to the point where it's literally unplayable.

Reason is cause there is so many objects and codes in the room it causes that. and calm down!

Same, Sahttam had warps set to test other locations in the game.

As for the objects slowing down the game, try using End Step, learn this method while working on dlbrooks33 examples a while back. it will help a bit also disabling objects outside of view.

I tried the demo.

It told me I got a sword and to press c to use, but I never got it to work.
Then I got out of the house and somehow fell down "behind" the house below, I would walk around inside the tiles. I think I jumped over to it or something =/

Then I gave up xD

Its a really buggy demo i was rushing to get a demo out. But in demo 2 all the bugs will be corrected.

and that chest u found was my test chest I used to test the sword but i deleted the contents of the chest so it was just left there.

Whoa, whoa...whoa. Whoa.

First off, what Zeldafan provided is a demo, which on this website generally means "great WIP". If it's buggy, well, so be it. That's game development; not every iteration before the final product is going to be stable.

Second, that being said, a certain level of stability really should be enforced for releasing demos. If it's unplayable, I would suggest not releasing a demo until said things are ruled out. I think it's okay to have some bugs seeing as these demos usually are just documented works in progress, but I think it's also important to release it in a somewhat playable/stable state.

I would kindly ask both of you to chill out a little bit. Wildex, your questions are great, but have a slight tone of aggression with the use of "!?!". Zeldafan, you have someone who is legitimately trying to help, albeit in a goofy, less docile way. I would suggest you take his suggestion to heart and work at making better demos! Wildex is trying to make YOU look better by giving you helpful tips.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be aggressive, It's just that I'm bewildered by why someone would rush out a demo, knowing it is full of bugs. A demo is a demonstration of the work. The FIRST demo should be the thing you take your time with, polish and clean up to give not only a good first impression, but also allow for feedback.
Why should someone take the time to give feedback if the author didn't even take the time to fix the most obvious bugs? Why should we care if the author does not?
A demo will have bugs yes, but known bugs should be mentioned by the author if they are hard to fix, fixed if they are easy to fix, and unknown bugs can then be reported to help out the author, thus fulfilling the second point of a demo.

I just could not see any reason for why he should need to rush out a demo.

Just my 5 cents, will stay silent now.

Im completely remaking this game. Using a engine a friend gave me to help speed up gameplay and it will have smoother controls.

Hmm. You said you were almost done though. Also, remaking anything from scratch is generally a bad idea in software development. At least it is before you have an already finished product.

Is there any other reasons you would rather start over in this new engine? Would this engine be significantly easier to work with compared to what you have now? Would it be able to do something such as cutting down the time you take to make something from several days to only a couple hours?

Personally I think you should finish the game with its current engine and use the new engine for a future project, or maybe for a second release of the game if you really want to remake it in that engine. Especially if your main concern is time you can commit to the development of the game. If you don't have time to finish it in its current state then how will you find time to remake it entirely?

It isn't a new engine.. I gave him the old engine from my Time Walker project (http://zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=38609.0) since it is also a mix of Sahittams Engine and Sahittams Game. The code inside the engine is as unclear as the code from Sahittams engine but has a lot of content. Anyway, I wish you good luck using this engine. ;)

Yeah, good luck.
I kind of feel bad that I gave you my game in the first place, and that you had to use it... But that's over now. The new engine can only be better.
And, looking at the item texts from the Time Walker demo, it seems that the engine has quite a lot of items already implemented ... so that's awesome! Again, good luck.

Hey I don't know if you've fixed this yet, but your flip mechanic is REALLY broken!  I was able to flip out of bounds and run around outside of Link's house.  I even found your giant rupees that you're hiding out there :)

I would say 2-4 weeks I still need to polish up some things. I will release Screenshots though.

ladies and gents, id like to introduce TRMjr

I have now givin up that easily.
honestly, the game looks great and it seems like everyone was interested but you keep keep changing your mind and then getting upset with other members. One minute youre working on it then a month later youre scrapping it to change to a new engine when previously you state that it was almost finished.

make up your mind dude and good luck with whatever you end up doing

hhheeeeyyyy, so this is still a thing..... >.>. All jokes aside, I have been very busy with school work. I won't say this project's dead, yet I also won't say it's alive. It's more like on hold....even though I haven't said anything in like...almost a year?? Though this game's slipped my mind with a lot of other things. Unfortunately my GML(Game Maker Language) is starting to slip my mind to Lua, blame Roblox. Though i've never been good at level design and programming has always been my thing, but now that Lua has replaced the little slot in my brain where GML used to be, I don't see any current status for this game unless I can get some major help, which seems far-fetched. Oh well, any ideas on what I should do with this would help out alot, otherwise, this projects practically at a standstill.

I do know a bit of html, sadly i don't think that will be any help here. It's a shame if you have to put the project at a standstill, but if you don't really have any other options. Could always try relearning the parts of GML you forgot.

I'm sure you can manage, programming languages are like riding a bicycle.  You might forget if you haven't done it in a while, but you'll remember it once you start doing it again.
