I think it was zelda 64....
When you would use ranged items,you could z target without an enemy and the view would go over the shoulder...ish...
I was just wonderin which game actually started the over the shoulder view.

The 1st Tombraider had already over-the-shoulder view.

Yeah i;m pretty sure it's the original Tomb Raider as well.

What? First person? Weren't we talking about 3rd person?
Unless you mean Duke Nukem 3d. Although there may have been more 3rd person games before that... not sure...

There were pretty much 3 at that time: Quake, Doom and Castle Wolfenstein 3D. I'm fairly certain Wolfenstein was the first 3D game.
On topic though, Tomb Raider is probably right.
