New Zelda!
-
They probably cut it to talk about the best feature of the show: the Wii Vitality Sensor!
-
The next console Zelda adventure will feature a Link who is more mature than ever before.
Welp, !@#$% Zelda. I'm over it. Also !@#$% the people who think of Zelda as an RPG with simpler controls for totally !@#$% Zelda up.
-
"Mature" Link?
Zelda controls are too "simple"?
Idiots. Why do they insist on breaking things?
-
I haven't played Wii Sports Resort, so I don't know what this new control will bring. But I reserve my judgement for later. Many complaints with TP Wii, was that the controls were gamecube controls with 'waggle' functionality. These controls are completely focused on the Wii, so maybe they are better and maybe they are worse. Who knows. The only thing to do is to wait for it to come out.
The reason why they didn't show anything during the conference, is maybe because they just finished the concepting stage. And more than quick artwork cannot be shown. Why they didn't wait until the next E3 to reveal anything? (Vitality Sensor)
-
Why didnt they break this out at the Conference?!
Well probably because they have nothing more to show then artwork of a 'MORE mature link'.
-
!@#$% !@#$% balls I hate Nintendo -_-;; They're ruining everything they touch.
-
I'm stoked, too bad it wasn't announced earlier...

Same with EA and the games they take over. (Command and Conquer example)

Meanwhile, at the super-secret "no cameras" conference...

-
Twilight Princess X-2, with much more advanced controls!
-
That's the Queen of Fairies from TWW. Wonder what role she'll serve.
-
I'll go ahead and point out the obvious; Link has no sword, and the fairy looks like a sword, from her clothing and stomach jewel all the way up to her pointy hair.
"The Legend of Zelda: Advice-Giving Fairy Who Becomes A Sword"
-
D: I don't think she looks anything like a sword
-
She looks like a gun *hint hint*
-
I'm pretty sure a more mature Link will be nothing less than sexy.
Other than that, I don't actually own a Wii (my step sister does but I don't touch it. That way she hopefully won't touch my PS3...long story), so I'm not sure I'd actually play it anyway. Seems intriguing and I hope they pull it off rather than ruin it.
-
Well the first thing that ruins it is emphasis on motion controls...
Sorry, but the whole waggle !@#$% in TP pissed me right the !@#$% off <_<;; Even if they improved it, it'd still bother me :p... I don't like this concept at all :(...

Do you hate her so much? Well I think a more mature Link will look exactly the same as in TP. The more mature thing will probably that the back story has him at the age of 20 or something. The other adults probably won't be calling him 'kid' or 'boy', but more on equal terms. The second thing is maybe the mood is more darker and menacing. And that Link gets to deal with aspects of life, a kid just shouldn't have to deal with.

I actually liked the Wii controls. I found it a lot more immersive than the normal button controls all the previous Zelda's used. I probably looked really stupid to a person who would be looking at me from the outside. But I gave up caring about that a long time ago. So I my eyes the controls only improved the franchise.
-

Do I smell Hot Coffee? :P J/k
Anyway um... sounds sort of interesting, It's been a while since I've been able to get stoked about Zelda, I was about Twighlight Princess and I did enjoy it but I dunno...
Anyway on the subject of the more Mature Link then ever before... Metal Gear Zelda IV? :P
-
LOL how did that artwork leaked out at the 'no-camera' confererence? XD
-
Theres a very good chance this game i will use motion plus. According to Miyamoto.
So 1-1 swod fight YAY! ???
-
I'm liking the concept art, I was scared shitless that they'd destroy Link. I'm hoping for a game more like MM, dark and menacing with plenty of side quests. The sidequests in recent Zelda's have sucked balls, too few and no depth to them
-
Do you hate her so much?
LOL no. Just last time my family used my PS3 they actually managed to break the blue-ray device. They weren't using it properly and I don't want my new one to crash as well. I'm an only child, and I moved in with my Dad and my step family. I'm not used to sharing consoles and I treat my PS3 with love and care...while they don't.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing more details on this and hopefully feeling more comfortable that stuff isn't going to be ruined for me.

Well, the problem with TP was that it was DESIGNED around an original controller. The new game will be designed around the Wii, and presumably the MotionPlus. The possibilities for this are actually very cool, and it's possible it could give the Zelda franchise the shot of vitality that it really needs.

Nintendo press site passwords somehow leaked onto /v/.
-
She looks like the freaking Master Sword, derr.
-
Her head and torso looks like the hilt, while her legs form the blade. Zelda was one of the first games I ever played, and I love each one to this day. I don't think Nintendo will !@#$% this up, probably because I am a fanboy.

TP is a Gamecube game that was also ported to Wii with the motion controls tacked on so of course it's not going to have the best controls. If you're that worried about TP Wii, then play TP GCN.

You're thinking of Rare. XD

Nintendo uploaded it to their E3 press site!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that everyone is going to throw a bitchfit about the new game but will end up loving it to death when they get their hands on it, ala every sequel ever.
Oh wait.

*is too lazy to edit out all of the quote just to reply to the TP comment*
Regardless of it being ported, the waggle controls will always feel novelty. Even on Wii exclusives, it feels like !@#$% lol... It's not going to work any better on a new title :P
EDIT:
Also, ITT: Zelda:Oblivion.

I agree with you about the waggle controls. The Wii Remote is crap without Wii MotionPlus because they couldn't add a gyro to make the controller's capabilities better because they were too expensive a few years back and they didn't really make them that size. The controller can only detect movements left-right, up-down, and forward-backward. The MotionPlus can do more movements like rotation and stuff. So you can't really judge until you actually play it for yourself.
-
Is it just me or does the head of the girl look like the head of the Queen of Fairies from WW?
-

Yeah, it does look like her but it probably isn't, unless...
-
The body doesn't look at all the same, but that could very well just be because of the difference in style between tWW and this game. The head and face look so similar that it probably is the Faerie Queen. Of course, she was gigantic in The Wind Waker, if I remember correctly…
-
Maybe this game has to do with the origins of the master's sword.
-

Hmm, I programmed for the Wiimote once and I could get rotational data for the roll and pitch. Strangely I couldn't get the data for the yaw. I don't know what the MotionPlus will bring, but rumors have it that it should give 1-on-1 motion capture, what the wiimote was rumored to do when launched.

Those where the great fairies. The Queen of Great Fairies was actually a child with dolls and a lot smaller. She lived on Mother and Child Isles.
Maybe this game has to do with the origins of the master's sword.
I hope not. The triforce and the master sword are two items whose story is in myth. Their origins are obscured and that is part of the magic of Zelda. To tell that story would make the magic go away.
-
The origin of the Triforce has never seemed to be shrouded in mystery at all. And at least Wind Waker, the Master Sword needed to go through that process of getting its power and ability to banish evil back. In this regard the Master Sword isn't something that would be too "out of bounds" to be explored.
-
You all do realize though that when TP was announced, almost everyone said "Midna is the Master Sword! Look at her eye! It looks like the gem on the Master Sword from Wind Waker!"... It's like a broken record when it comes to zelda games and speculation D:
-
I thought the Faerie Queen was actually really big, and her doll was the size of a normal Great Faerie. D: But I just checked a video on YouTube and I was wrong, she is small.
-
Video games are super serious business guys.
-
theres not enough information to properly announce it. just him saying there is a new one in the works and a picture. thats why it didnt get announced at the conference
-

No. Not unless I can be left handed, which, by the looks of that art, Link won't be. As a lefty, I'd prefer Link to stay left-handed. :<
I'd also like to see this Zelda not being as dark and brown as TP. It'd be nice if Link weren't so mature and fully developed. The magic of Zelda is how you somehow become Link. If Link is already a well-defined character, then what is there for you to do? Explore the world? But isn't Link mature enough already?
The player and Link are always pretty much "new" to Hyrule or wherever Link is. In any case, Link has usually lived a pretty normal life (by fantasy medieval standards, at least) until the time his adventure starts.
...</rant>
-
I. AM. LISTENING. SHIGGY. *eats hair while waiting impatiently for details*
Also, consider the possibility that the 'new character' is a sort of representation that the player can 'become the sword'. That or it's the sword's spirit.
EDIT: And of course Link will have a sword. *eyeroll* Swordplay mechanics have been mentioned, so I think he'll kind of need to have one for them to work. Unless his new Master Sword is, you know, made of air?
EDIT 2: Two thoughts occurred to me. One horrid, one interesting. LINK'S SWORDPLAH TRAINING. And the other one was that Link seems to be standing between the Master Sword and something.

Guess who won't be getting the next Zelda game..
I'm so sick of the Wii.
-
Guess who won't be getting the next Zelda game..
Oh Oh I know I know um.... is it... Bruce Lee?

Ding! Winar!
I just feel like the whole "casual gaming" aspect of the Wii has escalated and all the games being made for it cater to that. Nintendo isn't about it's fans anymore and the game characters that made them famous [i.e. Zelda, Mario, Metroid] all reflect that.

Yeah I get what you mean I guess I just can't help but be optimistic when they mention a new zelda game it just makes me think about all the happy hours I had playing the older games, even if the new one is not so good.

Haha Yes! You think that for the months and months you follow the game and it's creation and it's finally released and the next month of playing is one elongated WTF moment. All the magic of Zelda is gone for me. I just play the older ones, now. :|
-
Ah, c'mon... Zelda: Phantom Hourglass was fun even if it was easy and had touchscreen controls. And Zelda: Twilight Princess wasn't terrible either.
Link's Crossbow Training (which I liked) is more of an example of Zelda going casual, but even then, it's not a main Zelda title.
-
Why didnt they break this out at the Conference?!
Well probably because they have nothing more to show then artwork of a 'MORE mature link'.
WHOA wait? does that mean that Link will be growing a stubble? maybe even a muttonstache?

He'll get erections and his penis will be very large.

Actually Phantom Hourglass has been the only game so far that I haven't actually enjoyed playing at all. But yeah. I didn't mind Twighlight Princess, it was no OOT but then what is? (Other then OOT)
-
does'nt the master sword girl remind of something that came out of bleach
-
Nope. It only reminds me of wind waker.
