Laptops versus Destops

What laptop would be best to get, such as the manufacturer, operating system, drives, etc?

Edit: I was thinking of buying a MacBook Pro with the most advance operating system in the world, Mac OS X Leopard, and the Windows Vista Ultimate Edition software to go with it, however, is just too much money.

One problem, I have read several problems that goes on with PC's, such as viruses issues, a Mac receives no viruses according to what their website has listed.

Anyway, I have a HP Pavilion dv2000. Great specs, not too expensive. If you're looking for something cheaper, I'd recommend the Pavilion tx1000.

The Dell XPS Laptops aren't too bad. Although, it would be a lot more smarter to just build a custom computer. It's cheaper, stronger, a lot more longer lasting, and more customizable. Laptops are very limited and I regretted getting mine after 6 months of owning it.

Edit: EWW! You serious?! Alienware is a marketing overpriced joke. You can get computers that are beyond theirs at the same price as their computers. The best computers are custom built computers, in my opinion. You're left with countless options to choose from.

Look, the only way you get infected on a PC, is if you're a stupid !@#$% that porn surfs with IE6 or clicks ads expecting free prizes, or uses NO protection. Nuff said, GG AoDC.

A virus is always a threat, no matter the OS. Which is why they make virus scanners for *nix and Windows based systems. They're not there to look pretty .

As for 'better company' Gateway shouldn't ever be acknowledged as a company, because all they sell is crap. Right now I think Dell is bringing back what it had before it went crappy, before they cut Michael Dell out of the CEO spot. Hes back now, they're doing a lot better and you can still get Windows XP on their machines. (Linux soon too!)

The plus to a MacBook (now that they're Intel based) is you can run Windows on it at as well. OSX, and Linux systems are becoming more 'used' by consumers, thus there is a lot more support for the systems. However the ability to install/run/operate Windows on the same machine makes it much more convent too. Macs are worth it, if you're willing to pay for it.

Another brand that is *okay* is "Acer".

Compaq machines (I prefer them to HP, though they're the same company) are more slick and less bulky looking than the HP machines.

Gateway is a *no* *no*.

Seriously stay away from laptops. Just stick to a desktop if it's for gaming. But if you want it to watch movies and such, feel free to buy one.

Laptops are more entertainment than gaming, IMO. My friend has a HUGE POWERFUL laptop, plays insanely nice HD, but for gaming, its too hard.

Laptops are portable and perhaps laptops have the exact same thing as a desktop, a laptop is just more expensive.

What do you mean? Would a laptop last less longer if something bad happens to it, because the way I see it, if for example you send shock waves to the hard drive it may just not work, or even hit it.
