Title: What Will Nintendo Tack on Next?!
Post by: Sprite Collector on March 28, 2010, 09:33:07 am
Gimmick gimmick gimmick! Everyone loves a gimmick! After the touch screen, voice recognition, dual camera functionality, XL sized screens, and soon to be 3D capabilities, what direction will Nintendo take next?!

 :-\

Clearly it needs a phone.

An electric banana straightening wii-mote is where it's at.

I agree with the blender!
But I also added a phone option. I completely forgot that every electronic we own now has to some how connect to a phone, internet, twitter and facebook!

The first option is already on the DSi. So that is not a viable option anymore. A phone is nice. But if I have to say, they probably add some Swiss knife gardening tools.

**Sorry, I never intended to make the topic anything else. The first post did have the suggestion of a discussion topic.**

I mind them trying out new things.

I especially mind them trying out new things on a system, and then making a revamped version of that system a year later.

On the DS system hardware alone, I've spent $500. $300 on it when it was brand new, and $200 on the DSi. 2 weeks after I get my DSi, they announce a US launch for the DSiXL, which ultimately would fix my hand cramping problems, however they should have just done that to begin with.. I'll probably end up trading in my DSi and paying to upgrade to the DSiXL, which will prolly be another $50 out of pocket.

lol
There was a time when things were created to either enhance gameplay or make something more accessible / easy. The first six things you mentioned were created with that in mind. Personally, I see no reason to take a photo of myself, yell at my DS to get to the next level, carry around a larger handheld system or view ANYTHING, let alone a videogame, in 3D. Not only that, but I also don't want to be flailing my arms around or jumping up and down.

Nintendo created a divide in the gaming industry. They lured more casual gamers who demand and enjoy easy gaming environments with lots of flashy things to accompany their system. The more things it does, the better the investment. Because of that, Nintendo has forced Sony to create [steal] Playstation Move and Microsoft to develop Natal. Gaming and development is no longer about gameplay and how to deliver a more expansive world with a complex physics engine and an interesting art style, it's about how we're going to suck in more people to buy our systems. The entire industry has made a huge shift towards becoming more commercial and the products are suffering.

So yes, it is a bad thing that Nintendo is trying something "new."

It's not so serious. This was only for a bit of fun.

I think next time they'll either put on a kaleidoscope or a self destruct button

I get the feeling that they will redo the game boy camera (minus game boy) idea next.

The DSi does actually have a minor facebook app. When you take a picture with the camera you could upload it directly to your facebook. It was included in the 4.1 update. I think it's kinda stupid but what ever.  :P

Why do people only target Nintendo for these ridiculous gimmicks? <.<

Microsoft, Sega, AND Sony are all known for Gimmicks. This kind of topic is pointless.

Because Nintendo is the only one to base an entire product on it?

You can't say "Microsoft, Sega, AND Sony are all known for Gimmicks" when not a single one of them built a system to require the gimmick :P

Each and every one will come out one at a time for an additional charge, each charge more outrageous than the last.  It is all part of Nintendo's evil plan to rule the world!! LOL XD

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind the fan thing.

The Dreamcast, it was built solely on the idea of dreams.

PSPGo, Download only game handheld gimmick :D

Ah, looks like this convo came to zfgc...
Well pretty much, the idea is okay I guess, but the ds is being overused, and the concept could better be used on a console.

. _. I would like a fan in a handheld for those hot summer days. . _.

I honestly never owned a DS, at most i borrowed one for an hour. I decided I'd get a DS3D when it comes out in a year or so but serously, some games will be awsome in 3D. However, the reason I never got a DS is becuase I prefer sprited games. So at the same time, they should also try going back too.

Okay, so I've heard rumors that the DS3D will also include eye capability. Like, they make it 3D in accordance to your vision (ie: 20 20, 50 23, etc.). It doesn't sound possible, but at the same time, it gets a person thinking.
