The only way that I could hate it is by saying it started the trend of 3D platformers - the worst thing to ever happen to Gaming.

It's thanks to SM64 that the Donkey Kong games have become a pile of crap, such a shame given the amazing DKC series on the SNES. What I wouldn't give to play a good new 2D platformer again..........

Having said that, SM64 was a fun game - the only fun 3d platformer ever, IMO.

Good job, it's much easier to the details in his hair. Although his chin looks a little less curvey because of the different colours...

Yes it's down, it seems our host has forgotten to renew the domain. It was on recurring order so they should have done it straight away, but it doesn't look like they carried out their part of the deal. I'm not sure what's going on at the moment, I've emailed them but they haven't responded yet. I just hope the domain hasn't been bought by some rich !@#$% and turned into an adfarm :/

and if they live they come out of it better...

So if that guy had managed to rip the chain out of his chin, and probably lose half of it....maybe his lower jaw.........he would have had a better life afterwards? :P

Of course there are methods or preventing hecking, there's dual protection: both in the game and serverside.

Entertainment / Saw III
« on: November 01, 2006, 01:28:57 pm »
So the other day I "saw" (...) Saw III at the cinema, not really having any idea what the movie would be about, as I hadn't seen any of the previous Saw films.

Wow, what can I say! The first 20 minutes of the film...were.....sickening. Check out these scenarios:
  • A guy being shackled by his ankle, having to bludgeon off his foot with a breeze block, to escape and limp out to freedom
  • A guy having chains connected to his hands, feet, chest, back, hips, shoulders, legs, and chin (the chain was peirced through it), having to rip each of these chains out of his skin by yanking them out quickly....before the bomb infront of him went off!
  • A woman strapped into a device which had locked over her rib cage, having to reach into a jug of extremely concentrated acid to get the key to unlock herself from the contraption...failing to do so, her rib cage was ripped in half and thrown away from her on either side, leaving her organs to drop out of her unprotected chest.

The rest of the film was pretty tame, until we got to the open brain surgery (under only LOCAL anaesthetic), using a power drill and a rotary saw.

And then there was the drowning by pig guts, being scolded by hot wax, and having your body twisted by the rack. The bones suddenly snapped out of place, piercing the skin.

I've heard stories on the news of people passing out in cinemas while watching this film, and I can quite beleive it. At the time, I was finding the film hard to watch, but now I laugh about the situations these people were in with my friends. Generally, a good movie - nothing groundbreaking, ofcourse. What did you guys think of it?

FENDEZ COMBAT CLUB
- Brought to you by www.fendez.com -

The question you're all asking: What in the world is Fendez Combat Club?! Okay, think of something like Super Smash Bros, except not just with Nintendo characters, but with all of the big names of video gaming! Ever wanted to battle Ryu from Street Fighter against Wolverine from X-Men - now's your chance! Or how about Link vs. James Bond! Well your dream will soon become a reality!

Maybe you're thinking you'll just be playing boring, repetitive games against some computer AI all the time... Wrong! You will be playing against human opponents - the ultimate challenge! Now you can finally prove to your mates that you are the King - the King of Fendez Combat Club.

Expect to see fighters from a whole range of games, including Street Fighter, X-Men, Virtua Fighter, Final Fantasy, Marvel and DC, Nintendo, Tekken, Tales of Symphonia, Metal Gear Solid, Dead or Alive, Star Wars, James Bond and much, much more!

See all the currently added fighters here.

Screenshot:

The game is played through the web browser, using forms as seen above.

Note to mods: Because of the format of the game, a demo is not possible. The game engine is completed, and so the beta testers chosen here will prove that the game is real. All that is left to do is add more fighters, and perfect the game balance.

This is a very nice scene, I love the atmosphere. The reflections and moon are my favourite bits. The Zelda logo should stand out a bit more though, I think. Also, the highlights on the hill could do with some smoothing out.

CrystalAngel - I pro'd your membership, you now get news on certain things before others, and are entitled to beta-test any of our products before we release them. You also get access to a certain something that others won't in our newest game...which I'll tell you about later.

I'll fix the PHP of the submit score page, Fox ... putting in a apostraphe or 2 will allow you to have spaces in your name :)

And I'm not sure it would be so good if we did it like Mini-Clip, as we don't really have enough daily plays to make a top scores of the day table competitive. Possibly for the week, but really I can't see why you can't just endure and practice loads like everyone else ;)

Great article MaJoRa - some very good points. The bit about not working on your own is very true, although I would say that it is possible if you are single-minded and extremely determined.

I'd add that ALL planning should go onto some paper, and not just be left in your head.
