Other Projects / [Released] Kram Keep
« on: February 02, 2015, 06:34:03 am »
Kram Keep is a tiny “metroidvania” platformer. Explore the castle, shoot enemies, and collect new abilities!
How much can I possibly cram into a single screen? You’re about to find out!
This game was started during Ludum Dare 31, with the theme “Entire Game on One Screen”, and was worked on for a bit after the event.

Controls can be checked and changed in the “Controls” menu.
The game automatically saves your progress as you play. Select "Continue" from the main menu to load.

Play the game here:  http://knightygames.comze.com/kramkeep.html

Hello. Here's a game I made during Ludum Dare 26, with the theme being "Minimalism". It's a platformer similar to Super Meat Boy or IWBTG.
Run and jump your way through the temple's dangerous traps to reach the treasure inside. Be warned, simply getting to the end is not good enough for the temple god, as each room has a unique Law of Minimalism that must be followed.

The game can be pretty difficult, so I suggest you play Normal first.

Click here to play the most recent version. It's updated to be a bit less annoying to play.
Or click here to see the Ludum Dare version, which you should only play if you can vote.

I'll probably be working on this a bit more instead of Advancer, for now.

Advancer

Hello, here's a game I started making recently. It's a Platformer/Adventure game and is being made in Flash (ActionScript3) and Flashpunk. The game was started during the Ludum Dare 24 competition with the theme "Evolution", and I decided to continue working on it.

The concept of the game is to evolve the game itself. It starts off in the first generation of games, the “Odyssey” era, then through the “Atari”, “NES” and eventually the “SNES” era. The games complexity, the graphics, and your abilities improve as it evolves.
After you reach the 4th generation, you'll gain the ability to switch between the different gens at will. Each gen has different rules, so each has it's own advantages and disadvantages to be in. It could also add a certain puzzle element, figuring out which generation to use at what time.

The next demo I release will end at the same point as the current demo, except with more features and content.

Characters / Yan
« on: June 10, 2012, 07:11:41 am »

Yan is the most well-known and beloved warrior in her country. Although her physical strength is average, her speed and agility are unmatched by anyone else. Her loyalty to her country is extreme and will do anything to protect it and it's citizens. Despite being a warrior, she doesn't like hurting or killing people unless it's absolutely necessary. She usually takes advantage of her speed to get her opponent in a situation where they will surrender.

She lives in the oriental country of Seishin, which is currently at war with the neighbouring country of Baratrum. This war is more brutal than anything in history, like a hell on Earth. She wishes she could end the war without killing a single person, but that seems to be impossible.
She is highly protective of her sister Yin, who is also a warrior. Yan doesn't want Yin to fight in the war, since she see's her as being too weak and will get herself killed.

She is a samurai, and the shrine maiden of the Shisu shrine. Sealed inside this shrine is a powerful demon that takes the form of a sword, with Yan watching over it to make sure it does not break the seal or fall into the wrong hands. However, with the current war going on with no end in sight, she makes the dangerous decision to break the seal herself and use the demon sword to fight against the opposing forces in an attempt to put an end to the war. This demon sword increases in power by absorbing the blood of everything it kills, with the user also becoming more powerful along with it. Of course, with it being a demon, it won't allow itself to be used without some sort of pact.

Yan's life and soul now belong to the demon, and she will no doubt be sent to the pit's of hell when the war is over and her reason to use the sword ends. Despite knowing this, she still uses it, as she see's no other way to end the war. The more she uses the sword and the stronger her bond with the sword becomes, the more her mind deteriorates as she slowly becomes an insane killing machine, with no hesitation to kill any human, whether or not they're on her side. The war becomes secondary compared to the conflict inside her, trying to keep hold of her sanity as the demon slowly invades her mind.

Play the game here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6822849/Cosmicro.swf

Create and protect your tiny world. Shoot down enemies to protect your people, and use their materials to place buildings and power yourself up.
Includes two modes:
Normal mode, the goal is to raise the population to the required amount to reach the next stage.
Endless mode is, well, endless. Raise your population a high as you can, but it gets tougher the farther you get.

A majority of the game was made during Ludum Dare 23, a 48 hour game-making competition.

I thought I'd try to sprite something halloween-ish.
I don't know why I made it a such a weird angle >_>

I don't usually sprite because I didn't think I as any good at it, but
it turns out I'm better then I thought. >_>
Here's a tree. What do you think of it?

Also, which one do you like more, the one on the left or right?
The right one just has a thicker border.

It's been like, a bazillion-jellion years since I last tried to sprite something, but I tried it again
and it turned out not bad, I think. I was trying to make a very simple sprite, so it doesn't really have a lot of detail but thats part of the style >_>.

It's a robot. I want to make him look shiny but I can't get it to look right.
What do you think?

Other Projects / [WIP] Animal Crossing Neighbourhood
« on: March 22, 2008, 11:27:23 pm »
~ Animal Crossing Neighbourhood ~

Welcome to Animal Crossing Neighbourhood!
The game that is always on even if you're not there,
because it's online!

I started making this about a year ago, then after working on it for a month, a stopped for more than half a year.
Now I'm working on it again for some reason. I don't remember why I stopped in the first place.
Anyway, this is mainly based on Animal Crossing for Gamecube, although some of the things
from Wild World will be included.

~Features~

*As mentioned before, this game will be mostly online. When you sign up, there will be several
different towns you can choose to join. Each town will allow a max of 15 players and 5 animal NPCs(maybe more.) And if possible, each town will have a different time zone.

*There will be competions held between the towns.  For example, there may be a Flower Festival , and
the town which plants the most flowers in a week wins. Every player in the winning town will receive a prize.

*Most the features in previous Animal Crossing games will be included, such as fishing, insect catching, different hats, accesories, and costumes to wear, emotions and more.

*More on emotions, Wild World had some of these but you could only get a few of them. The F1 to F12
keys will be emotions, and you have them from the start.

*You will be able to choose the location of your house within the town.
The signs indicate a possible building spot.

*Not only can you fully customize the inside of your house, you can customize the outside as well.
Things like the house siding, roof, fence, door, chimney and even the Gyroid can be changed.
You can choose the direction your house is facing when it gets built (South/South-East/South-West)

*There will be maps outside of the towns you can explore.

*Players from other towns cannot mess up your own. If you travel to another town, you cannot chop
down their trees or mess up their flowers.

*Quests will be available. These are alot more in-depth then the jobs in the other games. Each with
a mini storyline and unique prizes when you complete them.

*You can earn "Emblems" for meeting certain requirments. For example, collecting 1 million bells will earn you the 'Wealthy' emblem.
They don't really do much, but it could be fun to try to figure ways to earn new emblems. There is an emblem for
almost everything, so it'll urge you to do everything.

*Ranking board, you will be able to see rankings for your town or overall, for things like Bells, HRA Score, Emblems, Items collected, Quests complete, Fish/Insects caught and more.

*Easy trading with other players. Just click on the player to open their profile and click "Trade".
No more dropping items on the ground just to trade.

*Minigames you can compete with other players at. Such a foot racing, soccer, etc.

*Because it's an online game, the contents will be ever-evolving. New items will be added every week (or month >_>).

*More differences between the towns. The towns in other AC games are all "different", but they are also all the same, just with rivers, cliffs and buildings placed in random places.
The towns in this game will not be randomly generated, which means I can make them more unique.

The icons at the top of the screen indicate the menus. Pressing that number on the keyboard
will bring up the menu. If you don't like the icons, you can turn them off in the Options menu.
Menu menu.
Also, the clock works. Menu.
The icons and the clock will only appear when you're not moving.

This is the Inventory Menu in-progress.
The Gyroid there is just a place-holder for your character model. I was just testing if a could draw
a 3d model on there.
Making a background for this menu similar to Animal Crossing is VERY VERY HARD, ARGH!
...Sorry.

Testing the textbox.
Yes, that signs name is "Signpost".

The chat function. Pressing Enter will bring up the input box.

Inside a players house. House can be upgraded in size.
The red and blue squares there can be turned On or Off in the Options menu.
If you drop an item, it will land on the blue square.
Place furniture and it will appear on the red square.
It can help you to easily place items exactly where you want them.

~Menus~

1- Inventory
Contains items, letters and Bells(currency) held.
2- Map
Shows map of the town. When you get the maps of other towns, you can view them anytime
and see the locations of other players on it.
3- Insects
Doesn't need much explaining.
4- Fish
Nor this.
5- Emblems
List of emblems earned. Each emblem has a bronze/silver/gold version.
The Emblem point total for the Ranking board is got from adding all the emblems (Bronze 1 Point/ Silver 3 Points/ Gold 5 Points)
6- Player List
Shows list of players online and their location.
Also may have a buddy feature.
7- Chat
You can chat with people who are not on the same screen as you.
8- Quests
Quests in progress and complete quests are shown.
9- Options
You can change lots stuff here >_>
10- Player Profile
Shows the player information such as: Name, town, player number, time spent online, quest/emblem points.

~Progress~

~Inventory Menu  70%
Only the stuff in the screenshot is complete. The letter section doesn't work at all yet.

~Other menus 0%
Blargh. Only 9 more menus to go. Maybe more.

~Text box 80%
Almost done, just need to make it so you can select choices, like "Do you want to sell this? Yes/No" that kindof stuff. Also need to put in the animalese and typing sounds.

~Online code 5%
I started working on this recently. Not much is done yet.

~Movement 80%
You can walk around and run and stuff, but the collision and sliding sucks a lot. It's hard making it move similar to Animal Crossing.

~Animations 1%
Haven't done any yet, however I have a very good idea on how to do this.

~Chatting 80%
Almost complete. You can type stuff in and it appears in a speech bubble above your head.
I need to make it so really long lines get split up into multiple rows. (And do a word-wrap as well)

~Graphics ??%
Some of the finished things include: The male player model, houses, gyroid, cliff, trees, rocks, dirt patches, bushes, signs, blah blah blah...
Also, I started making a river and it looks pretty good.
I hate lighting. I have lots of trouble making it look nice.

~Player houses 20%~
The walls, floor and windows are done.

Other Projects / [Completed] Duck Hunt 360
« on: November 06, 2007, 05:22:57 am »
This was made for the minigame competition of NCFC, and came second (although there were only 3 entries, heh).
It's based on Duck Hunt for the NES except with a 360 view.

> Download game <
> Screenshot <

~Controls

Mouse -  Move the crosshair
Click / Spacebar -  Shoot
Left arrow key / A -  Turn Left      (Counter-clockwise)
Right arrow key / D -  Turn Right  (Clockwise)
Enter - Pause game
You can also turn by moving the crosshair to the left or right side of the screen.

~How to Play

Shoot a duck to get points. Hitting multiple ducks in a row within a certain time will get you combo hits,
and you'll get more points for each duck you kill. If you go 2 seconds without killing a duck, or shoot and miss, the combo
counter will reset.
Shoot all the ducks to reach the next stage.

The circle at the top-right of your screen is the radar. The fan-shape is your view and the red dots are ducks.
If you run out of time or bullets, the ducks will all fly away. If they fly away to many times, it's Game Over.

Zelda Projects / [Demo]"LoZ: The Dual Mage"
« on: November 06, 2007, 04:57:25 am »
~ Legend of Zelda: The Dual Mage ~

I first showed this at NCFC, but didn't receive as much feedback as I had hoped.
(Apparently people were to busy staring at Shadowgazer to notice my game.)
Anyway, here's a game I have been working on for awhile.

~ Story ~

Hyrule waged a war with Ganon, the prince of Darkness. The war would later be known as the Sacred War.
A new soldier recruit named Link would unexpectedly be the savior of Hyrule.

Link, after a long and tough battle, was finally able to kill Ganon.
Peace surrounded Hyrule... For awhile, anyway...
However...since Ganon's defeat, the amount of monsters has begun to increase noticeably, so much that the hylians daily lives have been altered, as just stepping outside could result in a confrontation with a monster. The King of Hyrule decides it's time to take action. He orders the hero Link to investigate the origin of these monsters.

But, the monsters are a bad omen...
Hyrule is in more danger then they thought...
A mistake the king had done in the past could result in the fall of Hyrule.

~ Features ~

* During your adventure, you gain control of both Link and Zelda. They must work together to complete puzzles and defeat their enemies.
* Two Sub-Weapons can be used together to create new effects. For example, shooting an arrow through a lantern will create a Fire Arrow. Experimenting with the weapons you find will be very important.
* Hint medallions will be scattered throughout Hyrule. You can use these whenever you are stuck to receive a hint. There are only a set amount of medals in the game. (What happens when you find them all?)
* Minigames which take advantage of each sub-weapon.
* You may get unlockable stuff if you can find all the heartpieces, medallions, ect.

Other Discussion / Screen messed up!
« on: October 20, 2006, 02:24:16 am »
I have a laptop. Everything was fine and I put it in standby mode and went to go eat, came back and hour later, and the screen is totally messed up! Almost all of the white has turned into yellow(and some blue into green, while others colours are normal), and there is sort of "tearing" where rows of pixels are shifted to the left alot, and I cant even see anything at all when any windows are maximized because then the entire screen tears.
I restarted my computer, that didn't fix it. Turned it off completely then on again, checked the graphic settings, updated graphic drivers, checked for viruses and spyware with various programs in safe mode, and it's still messed up.
I managed to get rid of most of the yellow by fiddling with some settings but the "tearing" is still there.

I don't know what to do next  :(

*cries*

Also the laptop was in a locked room so nobody could touch it, and the internet cable was unplugged.
