No no, this isn't a topic complaining about the staff, the staff is just fine.

I was just going to complain about the "ZFGC staff" custom-titles (or whatever they're called) that the mods/admins have.

You guys need to CLARIFY and SPECIFY!

Who is what?  Are there any staff positions other than mod and admin?  Who's a mod, who's an admin?  Can you at least color the usernames so it's easier to tell who is staff, and preferably blue for mods, red for admins.

For example, when MiN left, I didn't even know that he was a mod.  How would I have known, I don't look at people's little title things.

We've actually been discussing this a bit privately.  Originally the idea was to promote staff unity, but it seems to be causing confusion as members of the Events Staff etc. are being PMed with requests to moderate things that they can't do anything about.  Hopefully something will change soon.  In the meantime, there really aren't too many of us who are actually general mods.  The rest are working on other aspects of the site or forum. 

Originally it was just like what you said, with separate categories based on what each member's role was, but there got to be so many categories that everyone was lumped together to prevent confusion.  Guess that one kinda backfired, hehe.

Oh, and MiN was actually an admin, mostly for technical reasons dealing with fixing and maintaining the forum/site, though he also stepped in to help with moderation issues when needed.

EDIT:  if it helps, the people who I know are moderators are:  myself, Kleaver, 4Sword, TomPel, CrystalAngel04, AoDC, MasterGohan Zero, Fox, and I think cpprograms and imfletcher as well.  I'm probably forgetting one or two, so I apologize if I have.

Yeh as danethman said it was originally and idea to promote staff unity but failed pretty badly, we are discussiong alternative ways to deal with it at the moment.

For reference though the admins are;
Me, Andrew, Windy & 2awesome4apossum - The last two only have powers to deal with technical or events releated things, please don't PM them asking them to moderate things.

And all mods are;
4Sword, AoDC, CrystalAngel04, dantheman, Fox, MasterGohan Zero, Ræn

Admin for technical reasons only, he is not meant to use his powers for moderation. He only has them to allow him to setup boards, membergroups and so on.

Why not have ZFGC Staff, Moderation Staff, and Non-Moderation Staff? Then people will know who can be contacted and who can't without getting complicated.

Staff systems are never equal. Staff unity, you said above, that's why there would only be three titles and all would end in "Staff", to be job-based and not level-based. You wouldn't go to customer service in Home Depot to check out items, and you wouldn't go to returns to get help with the selection of doors. You need a clear, non-discriminatory system, and, in my view, this is it.

It was a lack of communication between Helios and I. The day the new forums were launched, I had to run out and do some things, and I briefly told him what I had in mind in terms of 'staff unity' and staff categories. I didn't correctly relay the message the way I wanted to, thus resulting in what we have now. It was never fixed because we never had a reason prompted to fix it, and it worked fine for a while.

As I said it will be fixed soon, it wont be hard to do, just some profiles to change, which is time consuming.

What is AcidGame? I don't think moderator, so what?

I would assume hes "ZFGC Staff"

Which may consist of, Events, Site, Development, etc.

Just general staff, moderators are labeled, administrators are listed, chat staff is noted.
