Title: [Revise] Tingle
Post by: Twilight Alchemist on July 14, 2012, 10:47:03 pm
Name: Tingle
Age: 35
Race: Hylian
Gender: Male
Location: Hyrule Field
Description: Tingle is a former soldier who after getting court marshaled for 'wasting time searching for mythical beings' built a tower in Hyrule Field, with the help of his twin brothers Ankle and Knuckle, and attempted to run a cannon game but it failed because of the popularity of Dokoi's Cannon Fodder. He then turned to a life in thievery in an attempt to gain rupees, on his first try he got arrested and thrown in jail where Link finds him. If you can break him out of jail and escape, he will grant you access to his tower, of course you can't do anything until you pay him [insert high number of rupees here].

The return of Tingle!

I think bringin him a fairy would reward you more than that, plus I can barely understand what you mean by it. I'm confused on your exact intent of it.

Edit:I understand it now, but it's way too low of a reward for something that pretty much saves you from dying.

True, it should be more rupees. Just a way to make a quick buck.

Edit: Never thought of it like that before. I thought of it like Tingle's cheepshake, even for something he really wants.

It's usually good to think of the value of the item and compare it to the use of the item, if it's rare and is useful for things like saving your life, it would be more than say a, red potion, that only heals you, Plus stores or shops usually buy at half of  item's retail value, more or less, though it depends on the shop itself. So you have to keep that in mind too.

Ok, thank for the advice. By the way, where would I submit his shop?

Modify the post and call it "Tingle and his damn weird shop, of mainstream items".

His shop would be in the indoors part of the world design forum.

Unfortunately for Tingle, he's got a lot of business competition with Ingo, who was already accepted, and already has an established subquest where the reward is... he lowers the prices of the items in his shop. So this niche is already filled, how would Tingle doing this be different than Ingo?

Also, if you submit NPCs with more personality and details rather than just, 'this is their job and function in the game, they're not a person just a mechanic', then it makes a more appealing NPC, one that will enrich the experience of the game and probably more likely to be accepted, also.

:-\ I see your point. Unfortunately for me I can't think of anything else to use him for...

EDIT: Unless I just turn Tingle's Tower into a Mini-Dungeon

I like Tingle. As he is in MM, WW and other games is really awesome.

I have to agree with Max. In addition I don't think Tingle's Tower would fit very within Castle Town. It is a tower with a large Tingle head on top of it. Either this building is place somewhere at the north of the town and have the Tingle head be cut of, or lower and have the Tingle head probably obscure other buildings. I think Tingle Tower would better fit Hyrule Field as Tingle would see it as his own personal castle.

I would have said to make it a place with a lot of minigames, but MG's Circus that is also partially accepted does this as well. Another idea would be that Tingle would steel ruppees if you leave them for to long, but that is also covered with Maple. Maybe a mini-dungeon is the way to go, although I feel that the reward (at least for the first time) should be more than ruppees.

I also think that Tingle would do very well in a role as a mandatory part of the main quest. That Link has to rescue Tingle from under a rock or something (yes an FSA reference) and Tingle will sell him a valuable quest item. Or it opens Tingle's Tower and the valuable quest item is the reward in his minidungeon.

This guy's been dead since July. I think he's acceptable, except we have little information about his personality in this submission, that could be improved, and Tingle's Tower... what's the point of it? I can see it fitting in as a small tower he built himself, that's kinda shanty, and you go there just to meet with Tingle later in the game, and he can do something for you, like decipher a document you might need (a la windwaker's triumph fork maps), or give you some item that will be necessary in the goron mines or gerudo desert or something.

Niek, Star, what do you think?

I think we should try and develop him a bit farther. Revise.

Agree with Star.

Some how I see him more as a Casino owner in the rich part of town or something. "Open all night."

haha, I really like that idea, Niek :p

I'm thinking of submitting it as a new submission myself. Also, I don't know necessarily if Twilight Alchemist will come back to this, since it's been so long since his or her last activity on here.

He can be developed more, but if someone else wants to do it then I'm fine with it.
