The Legend of Zelda: The Legendary Swords
- Live the Legend -
Story:
Legend tells of two swords hidden deep within the vast lands of Hyrule. Together they hold the key to unlocking the land in which the golden power is located. One day a boy will awake as the chosen hero and rid the land of evil with the help of the golden power when it is needed most. In the depths of the land spreads a darkness. The time has come for the hero to awaken and go forth in search of the swords...
Features:
- Ally system in which you and your team of characters can fight along side one-another.
- New weapons and armor as well as various items to choose from
- 4+ Dungeons along with original bosses (as of now only 4 dungeons are planned, but I'll see how things go)
- New spells and sword techniques
Update (1/17/07):
- Added a story, features of the game, and most importantly a new(ish) engine test.

Great mockups.
Though they look very different from the previous version
-
Please. Do it. I want to see TLS back :o.
-
:D looks good but zorafan may be busy working on loz - tpb
-
Hi, nice to see that you still remember ZFGC and to make sure we don't forget The Legendary Swords :D
Those mockups indeed look well, good luck on the project ;)
-
I have seen this somewhere.... ???
-
I haven't seen it before, but it looks cool:)
good luck, love the zora shop :)
-
It all looks realy good!!!!
All of the scrrenshots would suggest that you were making a OOT Remake, The first is the shop from oot, the second is koriki forest, and the third is the fairy path in death mountain.

I'm never too busy for TLS. n__n; (Btw, I really should fix you up with some better kokiris and zoras, I can do much better than that now).
-
I don't like the MC, Alttp mix yet the the mockup's looks awesome.

Eh, sort of. The map is very similar to OoT, but with some major alterations. I'm using the main map layout such as locations of areas and such, but the inner areas are more or less changed.

Awesome! That would be great.

Yeah, I'm still going to work the 3 hero idea into the game engine somehow. I just want to somehow improve upon it and make it easy to impliment. And as for being a beta tester, I wouldn't want to take that position away from you ;).

Ha, I remember this game.
Good luck with it.
-
I followed this back at ZFGN until it dissappeared. It had a lot of interesting features and is pretty much the only promising Zelda Project I've seen.
-
Screens are nice. Good luck. ^^
-
Good to see you and your project back Sparks =)
-
Great to see you here. Welcome back. I thought you went down with ZFGN, which is a shame.... I really loved that place.... :'(
-
There there Linky, he's back now.
Anyway back on topic, great game, Combination of LTTP and MC erm, good idea just don't push it!
-
But ZFGN has been revived!

^That's the new forum ;)
By the way, this game looks just as good as it did before! I hope you will get your original team back on it! :jellytime:
-
Please, please don't mix styles, MC and LTTP look horrible together! I prefer MC and would love to see another MC fangame but i would much prefer you just using LTTP sprites than mixing the two. Aside from that it looks quite nice so far. And, erm, all i can say for the demo is that I hope the mock-ups are more accurate in showing your current achievement for the game. n_n;;

FSA updated a lot of LTTP graphics and used a lot of filters to make everything fit better with MC style. And I didn't like the mix in FSA, either. LTTP uses over-simplified mostly-solid-dully-colored objects with thick lines to give a cartoon look, whereas MC uses specifically bright, light, often contrasting colors with a smooth look to give it an entirely differntly cartoony look. They're just way to different to work together.
-
O_O! Really O_O!
You're back! OH LORD. That's awesome! :'D And YEY, it's still here. The game, you're still working on it! WOW. Awesome. :D
(Remember, I was a beta-tester. xD)

Since when you decided what goes into a fangame O.o, I really like how they look. You should just change Link colours, but still with those MC colours it looks nice.

I hope the coop mode is still here, which was the feature I like a couple years back

Co-op as in online play? Sorry, but that was a very long time ago back when I was planning on making this an online game. Unless you are talking about the ally system, that feature has been long gone.
-
What happen to the ally system!?!??! That was the feature I was looking towards too for playing this game.

The ally system will still exist. I just am in the process of redoing it to make it better. Not much will change, mostly just added things or improvements.
-
If there is an ally system, will there be a feature where another human play on my pc, let's say 2 players, I control the main link, and he/she can control one of the allies?

Sorry, the allies will only be controlled by the computer, or if you switch to them. It will be similar to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
-
I sense 3player online... God that'd be so wicked! :D
-
Hey look its sparks... wait, that name sounds familliar... it cant be... he's back!
It's nice to know your back here... Your project looks just as great as before! I dont know why I didn't notice it before! Good Luck anyway!

The tiling in your demo sucks!! but it looks like it could have potential

Notice he said it's an OLD demo and that he is aware that the tiling is not alright.
-
Hey wasn't this called The two swords before ZFGN closed?
-

I completely agree with you. I used to suck at tiling and such. Now I'm getting better, but I'm still looking for someone who is experienced to maybe help out with the tiling for the game. I have the overworld almost completed mapped out on paper. Now I just have to put it into the game.
Hey wasn't this called The two swords before ZFGN closed?
It used to be called the Sacred Sword, but the game merged with another game by Alex the Hedgehog called the Elemental Sword, making the game now known as the Legendary Swords, featuring both swords in the game.
-
I added some information to the front page. Expect a screenshot update sometime soon. Also, let me know what you think of the engine.
-
i thought it was pretty solid at first.. but everything just seemed to fall apart.
first I needed the cncs232.dll that so many games need which is always annoying, started up the game first thing I noticed was how much I hated the music.. I really hate all the zelda remix midis they all sound bad, you should really just stick to the traditional midis
movement was okay, I don't really like the sprite recolour, sword was really bad, its only half the slash but since you did it for all angles I assume its on purpose though I have no idea why anyone would do this.
cutting bushes is a glitchy mess, hard to cut them, then sometimes you can just walk through them and they get cut, but they grow back way too fast so you can get stuck in there
needs a lot of work sorry

Ah... I think you didn't follow that project long enough... this demo is, like, REALLY old. Several years. I'm pretty sure ATH improved ever since then, and stuff. :3

It's the newest release, but it is quite old. I realize there are tons of bugs that need to be fixed. I'm reworking everything from scratch, but using the way I did most of it as a guideline. The real game will have a lot better engine. As for the sprite recolor, it's just a placeholder until I decide on a final Link sprite. The reason why it only did half the sword slash is because it's the same Link sprite I've used since the first demo that my old partner Alex the Hedgehog used. For some reason he only included half the sword swinging animation and I didn't feel like recoloring the rest of the frames. It's all really just to get the idea of the gameplay. I'll release something along the lines of a demo as soon as I get the engine working better.

Whoa, Zora's Domain Shop look HOT!
-
Well the ally system have a co-op option?
-
Well the ally system have a co-op option?
No, sorry. The ally system will work as if you have a team of npcs on your side. If I added a co-op option I would probably have to make it online and story modes aren't really made to be played that way, especially in Zelda.
-
I don't know if this has been mentioned, but after you get the sword, you can cut bushes simply by running into them.
-
Haha. I'm glad you pointed that out. I didn't realize that. Thanks for letting me know. As of now I'm completely redoing the sword and items part of the engine. I believe I can do a lot better than what I did before. As for the movement, it will be the same concept, just less buggy.

I mean't like co-op on one keyboard, like 2-3 or three people on one keyboard, not online coop

Eh, I'm not really sure what you mean exactly. Like in Four Swords Adventures? If so, then no. You will be able to switch to your allies and play as them, but only one character at a time.

No problem. ;)
As for the movement, it's not really that bad. All you really need to do is make Link slower, as he's WAY too fast at the moment.

Oh, I always thought the game will be like 2player offline co-op
-
Where is the DLL. I can't play the game without it.
-
I updated the download link with the dlls included in the zip file. Sorry for the inconvenience.
-
YO man once this game is done You should port it to the NDS
-
Is that all you can say, Bomberman?
Hey, Sparks, those sprites are looking very, very awesome. I don't suppose that there would be any way I could persuade you into letting me have some?
-
NO there not. I just say that because all these game would would be good on the DS.
