Title: The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker gb Cancelled.
Post by: Piers on June 11, 2006, 02:16:50 am
The Legend of Zelda
The Wind Waker
GB
By Lopsided Productions
(http://www.64digits.com/users/Bob666/WWgb_logo_1_.gif)

Background info on Lopsided Productions.
Well about a month ago I decided I should start Ww in Gb style. The unfortuante thing is is that I don't own a gamecube so I was screwed. Until I was explaining the idea to my friend Kyle and he said he could let me borrow his gamecube on the condition that he join my team. Eventually my Gf found out I was making a video game and she said she'd like to help. So I assembled my team and we started about a week after I thought of the idea.

The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker prolouge:
Long ago, there existed a kingdom where a golden power lay hidden. One day, a man of great evil found this power and took it for himself, and with it at his command, he spread darkness across the kingdom. But then??? just as all hope had died, a young boy clothed in green appeared as if from nowhere. Wielding a blade that repelled evil, he sealed the dark one away and gave the land light. This boy who travelled through time to save the land, was known as the Hero of Time. The boy's tale was passed down through generations until it became a legend.

And then a day came when a fell of wind began to blow across the kingdom, and the great evil once again crept from the depths of the earth. The people believed that the Hero of Time would again come to save them. But the hero did not appear???

What became of that kingdom???? None remain who know. The memory of the kingdom vanished, but its legend survived on the wind's breath.

On a certain island, it became customary to garb young boys in green when they come of age. Clothed in the green of fields, they aspire to find heroic blades and cast evil down. The elders wish only for the youths to know courage like the hero of the legend???

The game will feature everything (Including tingle tuner, etc) that was in the origanal except rolling and z-tagetting (Though, these may have an option to turn off and on, depending if you like to keep it gb style or add in elements from the origanal)

After I finish this version I plan on changing all the graphicn and a few elements, and making it lttp style. That or I may just make it open source and someone else can do that.

Depends. Hyrule_boy already got to screw around with somethings. By next Saturday, you and Hyrule_boy will have a demo with outset island. Then after you report bugs, I'll get cutscenes ready and have a demo for the public in 2-3 weeks. Then onto Forsaken fortress.

Don't worry. I'll be making a master quest version of the game after the I finish this one and in that one it will have 2-4 more dungeons instead of the shitty triforce hunt.

It was better if you used the GB font for "I support The Wind Wakergb" and it would be good if you posted the code from the banner.

Wouldn't it?

The reason I started this was because TRM said he would not remake Ww in 2d so I started this.

Next week or the week after. Again, it will include all of the cutscenes and everything up to before you get on the pirate ship.

(Though, I may delay it to add the pirate ship)

http://www.zfgc.com/index.php/topic,5621.0.html (http://www.zfgc.com/index.php/topic,5621.0.html)

Too bad I'm not using midi anymore. (Well I am, but I'm having too music qualitys. One comes with the game (Crappy midi) and one you can download (Oggs and maybe mp3))

Anyway, I have a bit of an update. I've rewritten the whole engine from scratch now adding a few things that might help you people stop complaining about my sprites. (Thanks TRM for your resource pack idea) The engine now supports midi, ogg, wav and mp3 by default (Though when I release the source code (Which I will), you can add on other file formats and even make an lttp ww or Mc ww) and gif and bmp for sprites. (No jpg because it looks like crap)

I fixed a small bug in the sword engine and collisions are now perfect. The walking engine was re-written (Now using hundreds of arguments, for room and setting things up better.) I havn't fixed link yet, which you can do because I am too lazy. (Resource pack idea again)

Thats about it.

Edit
I also forgot to mention but its not that important. I reduced all 25 objects that the game had before the re-write to 10. I had alot of objects that where pointless and could have been a script for another object.
(This was done for speed reasons)

Yes I am. I have been distracted with a few other things (And even humiliated, when my own Ai went rogue ) and re-writing the whole engine (I figured out a few bugs and !@#$% and the loading times and objects shot up to much. Now, I have only two objects and loading times are 2.7 seconds ), so its still in production. Don't expect a demo for a while, seeing as how I have some houses to program. (I need the ww strategy guide for good pictures of the insides, I'm buying it tonight)

That could have been done through pms.

Thank you very much, unfortunatly I havn't done the "get hit in face by cannonball" animation yet. I'm trying to make it look funny (Comical) so you'll laugh just like I did when the stupid thing got hit in the real ww.

Anyway, a bit of news (I didn't work on it this weekend because I was away), I have a new team mate. Shadow-Of-A-Hero (From Oot 2d dampe) has decided to join up as a spriter. (Some of his work is displayed here, http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/9803/windwakerlinkgbstylegv9.png (Jpeg'd for safety reasons I think))

I think this will make progress much faster.

Title: Re: The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker gb - Cancelled
Post by: Piers on September 04, 2006, 09:45:59 pm
Until further notice, The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker Gb is cancelled. It will come back after our other 2 projects are finished. (May-June next year. I can't promise it will be made in a team) Wwgb is taking way too much time from Lopsided Productions and none of us have the will to continue this project.

A couple of notes:

-The gm6 may be released to the public for learning purposes, we are still debating this
-PM if you want all the graphics made for this game, all are released publicly - I don't have all of them, alot I have to get from my team
-A demo may be released as a final fairwell, we are still debating this.
-Both of our other project are Zelda-Related
-Both of our other projects are developed in BlitzMax
And:

2d engine:
////////// - 17% Done

3d engine:
////////// - 4% done

I will be locking this in a day, so any comments you want to say can be said here.

Sorry for any inconvience.

No you can't, but hey, why not make the .gm6/.gml file open source?

I think I will lock this topic.  The creator of it wants it locked and I guess that means I do too.
