Dayjo Aspen Games has recently begun development on a new project, being developed with GarageGames' Torque Game Builder (aka Torque2D). The project is a 2-dimensional Action/Adventure Gothic Horror (think Dracula, Frankenstein, etc) game set in either Victorian Era England or Medieval Era England (to be decided). Currently, we have not gotten much done, I am working on a prototype using RPG Maker XP graphics to show how the system will work, but we are in need of the following team members:
Quality Assurance SpecialistQuality Assurance (Q.A.), more commonly known as Beta Testing, is an integral part of any game. Your job as a Quality Assurance Specialist will be to play through the game and ensure that there are no bugs. When a bug is found, you are to record it, what you did that caused the bug (you'll have to be quite detailed), and attempt to duplicate the bug. To be a QA Specialist, you will need to provide us with an example from a previous QA job, or show us that you are a good choice for a QA specialist by showing us an example of *some* form of debugging you have done in video games before.
Graphics ArtistGraphics Artists are another big part of any game, particularly this project. This project is going to use 100% custom graphics, and as such, we need talented individuals in all aspects of graphics design; we need menus, menu text (ie: New Game, Continue, etc), tiles, character images, item images, sprites, and MANY more resources. If you wish to be a Graphics Artist, please submit an example of Gothic-styled graphics you have done. We are, in particular, currently looking for people who can do tiles & other images for buildings, dungeons, etc.
Concept ArtistConcept artists are needed to provide a basis on which the graphics artists can work their sprites & tiles from. Concept artists need skill in art, and will need access to a scanner so that they can upload their works for us to see, obviously. Concept artists will mostly work with Gothic characters and Gothic architecture. If you wish to be a concept artist, please send an example drawing of either Gothic architecture or a Gothic character.
Music & Sound Effects ComposersMusic & Sound Effects are big parts of games, especially because they are a big factor in setting the mood for a game. We need people who can create background music that runs a large span of emotions, particularly fear and horror. Sound Effects composers will need to create simple sound effects, such as menu effects, perhaps things like screams, screeching wood floors, doors, etc. Both composers will need to provide an example of sound or music that they have created.
Gameplay DesignersGameplay designers are going to design the backbone of how the system works. Gameplay Designers will be responsible for setting up how the game interfaces with the player, such as controls, menus, and how puzzles are handled. Potential gameplay designers are asked to send an example of how they would set up a simple combat system between two characters, with simple close-combat weapons, using an original system, rather than a borrowed system (such as D20 or Storyteller).
Storyline DesignersStoryline Designers are very important to the production of the game, as many gothic horror books and movies have the story both prior to and during the telling of the story. Storyline designers will be both responsible for fleshing out the background behind the story and for developing the path that the game takes as the storyline folds out in front of the player. Potential storyline developers are asked to provide an example 2-5 paragraph short story/story summary (not of an existing story, simply outline a gothic-style story).
Character DesignerCharacter Designers are responsible for developing the characters throughout the story, both Player-controlled, helpful NPCs (such as allies in combat, or quest-givers), and opposing NPCs (such as the main villain, etc). Character Designers will also be responsible for working with the Storyline designers to create compelling villains and characters to push the story along. Character Designers are asked to submit a simple background story for an original character that they come up with.
Landscape DesignersLandscape Designers are responsible for developing how the world is laid out. They create the towns, dungeons, houses, villages, and the entire area in which
Exalted: Ties To Darkness takes place. Landscape designers are asked to show me an example of a small village that they create a map for, using either 16x16 pixel or 32x32 pixel tiles to create the map. You can create the map with any graphics style and any graphics from any game you can think of.
Contacting MeIf you wish to sign up for one of these positions, please send me a Personal Message on the forums, email me at

Please keep in mind that we are planning on selling this project, publishing in-house at Dayjo Aspen Games, and publishing through GarageGames, and that there is a chance that you may be paid (how much depends on how much we have and how much the game sells for) for your work, though terms & methods of payment will be discussed at a later date, after development has progressed far enough to where we can discuss price & get terms of pricing with GarageGames.
I look forward to responding to those of you that wish to help, and good luck to all of those who try!
