Entertainment / Metro 2033 Developers say the Wii U CPU is too slow.
« on: November 21, 2012, 06:37:17 am »

Wii U's tech specs aren't as impressive as initially thought and 4A Games won't be bringing Metro: Last Light to Nintendo's new console.

Published on Nov 20, 2012

Nintendo’s Wii U is out in the US and with reports coming in that it is struggling in a number of areas, many are claiming its third party games aren’t quite up to the visual standard of their Xbox 360 and PS3 cousins.

That the Wii U struggles to render games (that run perfectly on the Xbox 360 and the PS3) is a worrying trend for Nintendo. In fact, some games currently scheduled for release on the 360, PS3 and PC won’t be heading to the Wii U at all because of the differences in processing power.

One of these titles will be 4 A Games’ Metro: Last Light. Chief technical officer, Oles Shishkovtsov, explains why Metro’s sequel won’t be appearing.

“[The] Wii U has a horrible, slow CPU,” said Shishkovtsov to NowGamer.

Even his colleage, Huw Beynon, confirmed there would not be a Wii U version of Metro: Last Light, and couldn't justify the effort required to bring a comparable version to the Wii U.

“We had an early look at it, we thought we could probably do it, but in terms of the impact we would make on the overall quality of the game – potentially to its detriment – we just figured it wasn’t worth pursuing at this time. It’s something we might return to. I really couldn’t make any promises, though.”

Despite Nintendo’s console offering Metro: Last Light new experiences to its players with it dual screens, when asked Benyon was adamant that the Wii U would ever seen Metro: Last Light when asked directly.

“We had an initial look at the Wii U, but given the size of the team and compared to where we were last time, just developing for the Playstation 3 is a significant addition.”

Is this bad news for the Wii U? Will it affect your decision to buy one? Let us know below.

The gaming world is a buzz probably with the recent allegations that someone was cheating in the League of Legends tournament!

http://kotaku.com/5949684/cheating-allegations-surface-in-league-of-legends-playoffs

When it was shut down and moved to a "secure location," the $2 million League of Legends world playoffs was thought to be plagued only by technical issues, possibly a denial-of-service attack to cripple the event.

Now, however, come accusations of cheating, in this thread on the game's official forums. As Massively explains it, at the match, a large screen showed the audience the action, and two smaller screens displayed each team's position. While competitors were told to face forward, viewers said they noticed players turning their heads—basically, looking at the opposing team's minimap.

The first post on in that thread on the LoL forum makes the allegations in greater detail, with screen captures of the live stream that they say show the forbidden screen-looking (above). Massively got a statement from the lead referee from the tournament:

We keep a constant watch on all the players on stage at all times. We have cameras as well as live people walking onto stage to keep tabs in everything. All players are told that they need to remain sitting, facing forward, and with headphones on at all times, including during pauses. I can personally confirm that no WE player looked at the minimap at any point during the match.

a 2 million dollar playoffs thing and they decide to put the opponents right next to each other

Entertainment / Bullet Run, a preview sort of
« on: September 15, 2012, 03:29:11 am »
http://www.bulletrunthegame.com/

Bullet Run is a Free to Play (F2P) Online shooting game.  Made by the company ACONY. It's your typical run and gun First Person Shooter with a few added differences which i will touch on during this post. To start off: It's shown off as a more TV Show like game.So it has commentators that talk during the game, Your Experience to level up are Fans, and you are able to taunt your opponents to gain Heal. You also have Style which gains you more Heat after the match.

As typical Free To Play games go, you can buy things in the shop with real money. While This isn't a cashop like in other games. It's the main shop that just allows you to use either Credits as In Game Currency to buy Weapons, and Clothes, but you can also use Station Cash, which you purchase using real money, then can spend the Station Cash to purchase items with.

Here is the Shop, you can buy Clothes, Weapons,Taunts, and a few different Grenades. Once you purchase weapons you can then purchase modifications to add to those weapons. Laser Sights, an Ammo Clip, etc. Each weapon has 2 modification slots. While Black Weapon versions have 3 mod slots. Weapons are level based. So the AK47 may be a level 10 gun, while a different Assault Rifle can be Level 15, or level 20.

You may notice on the bottom it says Platinum Membership, Account Status: Free. Like a lot of SoE games, you can purchase a membership to the game for a certain amount of money a month

Here are the Membership benefits from the website:

    Platinum Taunts
Increase your Fame and Heat with exclusive Taunts.
    50% credit boost
Your in-game currency is Credits. When you're a Platinum Member, you get earn credits 50% faster than non-members.
    5% Group Wide credit boost
When you're grouped with other players, everyone in the group will receive a 5% credit boost.
10% discount on all marketplace items
You'll want them, and now you get'em cheaper.
    Reduced Style loss
Style gives you a boost to your rewards at the end of each match. If you are not a member, Style will go down over time. But as a Platinum member, your Style points are reduced at a slower rate.
    Platinum indicator
Everyone can see that you are a Premium Member because you will have an indicator on your avatar. Because of the group credit boost, your games will be more popular with other players.
No level requirements for marketplace offers
Some items in the marketplace require you to have a certain Fame Rank in-game. As a Platinum Member, you can purchase anything regardless of Fame Rank.

You can purchase more taunts also. You get Experience and Credits based on how much Heat you get during the game.  You get 25 Fans for 1 kill, and more if you get multiple kills in a row. Once you get a kill, 2 kills, etc, you will get Heat, if you taunt before they give you the experience a circle fills up letting you get a bit more heat.

Bullet Run also lets you use Skills. There are four tier sets of skills, you can pick one out of each skill tier to use,  Tier 1 a Heal Skill and a Skill that allows you to use punches to kill opponents. You choose one of those to use through your inventory, same with the other tiers.  Each skill can be leveled up to Level 10 by using Credits or Station Cash in the marketplace.

After each game based on how much heat you got during the game. You will get Credits, and Fans. Fans are your experience in Bullet Run.  Depending on your Style you may get even more Heat after the match.

Style Rating:  Since it's suppose to be like a TV show, Style takes a part of the game Bullet Run. I don't think that color and style matter when picking items, Just that Clothes and Weapon Decals give you style points. A hat could be +5 style, while a shirt and pants could be +15 style each. So the Style adds up.

Currently there are two game types in Bullet Run, Team Death Match and Dominion. Team Death Match like the name implies is a mode where its team vs. team and the team with the highest amount of kills at the end wins.

Dominion is a mode where you and your team run to two central points on the map and stay there until your teams bar on the top fills for the base, while you kill the opponents. The more teammates at a certain base, the faster the bar fills up. Once the bar is filled up for that base and you have captured it then you will have to wait until a countdown has completed to go for that base again. Dominion is split up into two rounds. One round is for one team to Attack and grab bases, The other round is for the opposite team to attack and defend bases.

    a Team Death Match Screenshot:

    Some Dominion screenshots:

It's not the worst game out, It has 7 maps currently, with more possibly coming in the future. It can have lag issues, and with that issues with Hit Detection, and glitches. Though so far ACONY is pretty good with trying to fix glitches and add new things.

http://kotaku.com/5942882/nintendo-reveals-nintendo-network-premium

From the sound of it, Nintendo Network Premium is actually a rewards program. If you are a Premium user and you purchase a game (or presumably DLC), you get 10 percent of your purchase in points that can be exchanged for a pre-paid redemption code to trade in for games or DLC.

Hot damn a whole 10% eshop discount with premium, That'll be worth in like 4 years BROFIST

Entertainment / Resident Evil 6 Has An Unlockable “Lone Wolf”
« on: September 03, 2012, 03:31:27 am »
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/09/02/resident-evil-6-has-an-unlockable-lone-wolf-ability/

Resident Evil 6 has an unlockable ability that lets you play the game without the help of your partner, I learned today. You can unlock this using Skill Points.

Your partner will still be present in the game, and they’ll help you open doors and the like, but if you get pinned down, for instance, you’ll have to get up on your own.

I wonder how that is any different then the A.I. in any other capcom game?

Well, to all of you who have been wondering about what’s next for Mega Man games, here is perhaps the answer. Capcom has announced “Rockman Xover” (cross over), a social RPG, for iOS 4.0 and above. And as Capcom announces this, this must be their face:

We have the Demons Souls fans who constantly circle jerk each other off, constantly re-assuring each other that Demons Souls is the hard of the hard that only some elite fanbase can get into and beat.

We have the Metal Gear Solid fans that constantly re-assuring each other that their video game movies are the best thing ever and Naked Snake is the best character in the world and that Raiden is the man now dawg.

We have microsoft fans constantly trying to re-assure themselves and everyone that their 60 dollars a year is worth it because they can "cross game chat". Thats literally the only selling point they ever bring up, ever.

We have Nintendo fans constantly damage controlling the stupidest decisions by Nintendo.

"buuu we never wanted that game anyway"

We have Sony fans bitching like babies whenever microsoft gets something that they don't

"achievements and trophies are omg the sux, they server no purpose"

*microsoft announces a rewards program for achievements*

"omg look at microsoft trying 2 get more ppl 2 buy their 60 dollar a year live, microsoft in ruinz"

Its kind of sad when people have to constantly re-enforce their opinions by patting each other on the backs so hard their arm breaks.
