Quote
Nuclear power plants smaller than a garden shed and able to power 20,000 homes will be on sale within five years, say scientists at Los Alamos, the US government laboratory which developed the first atomic bomb.

The miniature reactors will be factory-sealed, contain no weapons-grade material, have no moving parts and will be nearly impossible to steal because they will be encased in concrete and buried underground.

Amazing.

Refilled every 7 to 10 years, huh? And there will be how many millions of these across the world in the distant future? I don't think this is feasible in the long-term.

Well, ignoring businesses, and assuming that everyone in America had a "home", there would only be 30,000 in America. Doesn't sound too bad.

You forget, of course, that at the moment, the vast majority of electricity is currently produced by burning gas, oil or coal; and those are also very finite in scope and are not feasible in the long term. We have to switch sooner or later; who cares if these are just a stop-gap measure?
