Just got the game for christmas, so far i'm loving it a lot.

More developers need to follow suit and create good games for the Wii like this.

Go Go Namco!
Really? I read all negative reviews. What makes it so good, if I may ask.

Since when was encouraging bad practices early a good idea? Just means more work explaining why everything they know is wrong later.
I never said it was a good idea. I said it can be an exception due to the size of the application. The code would still have other namespaces used directly and there'd be no clashes, and the code would look easier on the eyes, which is important if you're just starting out. This just my opinion and you're welcome to disagree.

He's still going to read your post and make a mental note and keep it in mind while he works.

AoDC, just a note. Some people deliberately avoid the use of 'using'. I, for example, do this in C++. It helps avoid some obscurity, confusion and general problems when the same name is used by different namespaces, and since has become habit.
I think since it's a single form application we can make an exception. You're thinking too far ahead ;)

Set a character limit on textbox's.

Something you should always think about is reusability. I notice you've got a block for each of the form objects (please excuse the lack of proper terminology). Why not make a class with methods to create or adjust the properties of those objects, instead of countless this.*'s. Imagine if you did this with 50 objects on the form. Imagine the time you'd spend trying to find certain lines of code. I realise you've used a region to segregate sections, that's fine.

Also, I see you have System.Windows.Forms.*; for every line in each block. By including a using statement up the top, you eliminate the need for it.

using System.Windows.Forms; // Include namespace (I'm sure you already had this line)
...
private void InitializeComponent()
{
this.label1 = new Label(); // We can now remove the namespace from here
...

If someone could improve upon my suggestions feel free.

Good luck.

I like the Z targeting, I was surprised to see the fairy go there and back. It'd be nice of there was a circling crosshair like in Ocarina of Time too, just an idea.

I still can't get F to work for some reason. I got the bomb, and the bow is already equipped. I spammed F but nothing happened. How do you equip, or use bombs? Sorry for being a pain or missing something.

Nice Santa hat also.

I noticed you said you work on this daily. It's important to take breaks before you get exhausted, stressed, which usually leads to giving up. =].

Good luck.

Feedback / Merge suggestion
« on: December 26, 2008, 07:34:14 am »
Would it be possible to merge Tech Talk and Gaming & Ent into one board? Tech Talk is rarely active. Just go and look and you'll see. I consider Gaming and Technology very close so a merge shouldn't be too bad.

Just a thought.

I'll fix the url.

This is _NOT_ MattCoz's engine, I built it from scratch, on my own.

I know the enemies are screwed up, I just put them in there really quick.

You need to pick up the items from the treasure boxes.

the demo has 2 large areas, and a large town. Also two small houses(in the town)

I think you got stuck at the wall, you have to use the bombs (in the chest, next to the wall) to blast the cracked wall, then walk through...Read the signs!
How do you open chests or read signs? It doesn't say in your original post.

Not nearly as good at it as Jordan is, but for having no art talent, I think I did a wonderful job and should continue to do so in the future.
Fixed ;)

Your link to the demo doesn't work. I changed the URL and got it to work though.

Good luck continuing this, lot to live up to. I hope MattCoz doesn't mind or you have permission.

The enemy you included, I slashed him to the edge of the cliff, he got stuck (his sprite was flipping horizontally constantly). Then he floated all the way to the right outside the map.

I couldn't get the F key to work.

I like the 3 hit sword animation.

Double jumping was smooth.

Was the demo only one small area? It was as far as I could get.

Again, good luck.

Screws up my nice header though :P.

Yeh I'll fiddle with it when I get the chance.
That's never good ;)

But yes about 40% of the site's width in my resolution is space.

If they were gonna sell out they could of at least done it with a good band >_>

*ZOMG GH died and the world was stuck with learning REAL guitar*

I don't see what is so great about GH seriously. It's DDR with your hands...

It's in most cases a challenging yet fun game.

St Anger and Death Magnetic are nothing a like. Ask Mamo.

Is competition with Rock Band really so fierce that they have to pull another GH: Aerosmith trick from their hat?
They want the $$$.
