Art work is the biggest hold up with the projects, though I'm willing to bet that most don't even get to a part where they need custom sprites, so they either have poor sprites or temp sprites. Everyone starts off the with forest, we need people to start with hyrule field or further ;D

The 2nd disc had some funny clips, including Raiden acting like the Terminator but getting his ass whooped time and time again.

Twin Snakes was good, but the controls were very frustrating. It may be because I played the original on the PS first, but own both and I still go back to that one more often than twin snakes.

Meh, much rather have another KOTOR like the first one. I don't care for MMO's, I don't really care for the social environment nor paying a monthly fee being as busy as I am(I buy my 360 live card in 1 month formats).

I'd be happy if I didn't stop caring about Final Fantasy after realising every one after 9 is absolute !@#$%.

I am not a huge RPG fan, my Final Fantasy days were with 7 and 8, tried 10 but didn't care for it. I'm hoping that this will be good, I also hope for a demo.

I got the impression that it wasn't dependent on the game, but the hardware. Meaning, you may see an increase in stability in all games?

www.joystiq.com - It's buried amongst their live report on Microsoft's keynote at E3. They also mentioned that online co-op with be available and that the game plays an awful lot like RE4, but sexier.

***Oh and they were showing off a playable demo.

I've always wanted to see Pokemon in a real 3D adventure that plays like the original Red/Blue, that plays like OOT, ya know what I mean? In terms of how you move and play, same story, same everything just with 3D elements... but they should then throw in an official way to catch Mew/Poke'gods just to enhance things and make things nostalgic.

Oh and I fully support and believe that FFVII/FFVIII could benefit from remakes, both fantastic games, both old enough to warrant attention to a new generation of gamers.
Because Final Fantasy VII doesn't get enough exposure to this generation of gamers.

The side stories do, but how many do you think have actually played through the full original game? I wouldn't think that those number would be too high given the obsession with graphics nowadays and how PS3's backwards support has been fully cut from recent models.

Working through Direct X using Beginning Game Programming 2nd Edition by Jonathan Harbour who is one of my professors at school. I just got his new book Advanced 2D Game Development which develops a full 'professional' grade game engine, so I'll be jumping over to that soon enough so that I can make more progress on my project.

That console is just !@#$% up in so many ways.  Mine would refuse to play DVDs (games, movies, you name it.) yet CDs worked fine (i was able to play music, ps1 games and ps2 games that were on a CD, not a DVD).  BUT if i turned the console upside down...it would play DVDs just fine O_o

Upside down? Nice. The pre-slim line PS2 optical drives always seemed to be the first thing to go on these. Mine was starting to show intermittent read-errors, but now we have a PS3, so I'm free to finally heck into the PS2... get a mod chip and see what I can do.

MGS 1 for the PS is definitely my favorite. It's partly due to my sentimental feelings as my grandfather got me this game and he's no longer with us... the other part is because that was the first game on that console(keep in mind that I got it around 1998 so I was catching up on things) that really got me lost into the gamer zone. I love the story and characters and the game is so friggin fun to play. I still remember being home from school because of a snow day and looking out my window, seeing nothing but white snow then looking onto my tv with my battle with Sniper Wolf for the first time about to commence. Good times...

I got to Chapter 8 now I hit a spot that I can't seem to get past... some error with ALPHABLEND not being identified. Googled it and came up with nothing, checked my configuration, came up with nothing... I posted the issue on the author's site. I came across some issues here and there, let me know if you need any help with this book!

That sounds like an interesting class, heck I'd take it just for the sake of taking it. It's gonna be geared more towards lower level programmers, ASM and C style. If you're more into VB or C#, it may not be for your tastes, but there's never any harm in learning something new.

This book you got... is it by Jonathan Harbour? The guy is one of my professors at school... I'm actually going through that book right now as well. He uses c and c++ and to be honest, it's not a good mix. I've been in his class that used ASM/C and that had a good mix, but this book... it's like he can't make up his mind... but I still like it. It's called Beginning game Programming I believe... something like that.

They need to open up development on the PSP... hell, it's already being done, if only to evade the firmware's security measures. They're releasing PSP dev kits to schools, but by the time schools adopt them and those students graduate from 4 year universities, the PSP will be on it's way out.
