Recruitment / Re: Looking for a Sprite Artist

I would also not assume that an artist will willingly go and do all of this for free.

Purple is the best color. I am totally down for restoring the purple community with this Link.

Looking good so far! Can't wait to see more.

Good luck on this endeavor! I pray your team will be significantly less problematic than Chairsage's.

I just want to note that I'm not trying to discourage, but simply pointing out that "coding is easy" is simply wrong.

I guess I should have said that learning to code is not difficult?  Getting into the complex stuff gets more and more difficult, but learning the basics should be more towards the simpler side.  My fault.

RPGs do get more complex than say Galaga.  Many pieces to the final puzzle, as they say.

You are incredibly, incredibly wrong, but it's alright. RPGs are extremely complex, especially as a first project.

(btw I know that sounds harsh but just know it's not, ok)

I don't mean to scare you, but I want to bring up this quote from TFS:

Quote
Tip #1:  Learn to code.  It's not difficult.  Coding at a beginner fangame level is no more difficult than elementary algebra.

This is just simply not true, especially for your case. Coding is difficult. There's a reason why schools have 3-year long programs teaching it to people, and even after you're done school, you still learn, and learn, and learn. The project you are recruiting for is basically an RPG, which is literally the first thing every noob in this industry wants to do and it's the equivalent to shooting themselves in the foot. If you want to learn how to code, find a smaller project and do that first. Don't shun this project, but learn with something smaller and less grandiose.

No damage done, but a couple passwords changed.

I didn't even know you could password protect Game Maker games... interesting. So what's the password then to be able to play?

edit: I read the post and couldn't find it
No no.  Somehow a file was created(I can only assume from GMS) that contained my Git password and username.  It's since been fixed.  Lesson learned: don't try to use Yoyogames implementations of source control.

All playable releases are in the BIN folder of the git.  Link put back into original post.

...oh wow, that's messed up. Glad you found it :|

Feedback / Re: What new forum features would you want to see?
« on: January 31, 2017, 02:00:19 pm »
This is a fairly basic and obvious feature, but having the ability to link/list our various social media and online gaming profiles with our accounts. That could solve some of the headache involved for those of us looking to connect in more places than one.

Do you mean using these social media/online gaming profiles as accounts to log in with? Or more-so to just link to the profile as a "find me on other sites like these!"?

The latter.

Shouldn't be hard to implement, considering we already have that (but still limited to like, early 2005) where we can link our email and website or wtv.

Nope, multiplayer is quite tough. Really cool you're taking a stab at it! Good luck!

Are you planning on eventually taking out all the Zelda/Pokemon/Mario placeholder assets?

I agree with 4ndaKava (also with how it looks awesome). I would like to add that it seems the character textures are a loooot darker than the rest, making them look odd and stick out.

I'm not sure what you're using to code, but maybe you could look into particles?

or just putting on a Spritesheet to activate in the "Pegasus Boots" Running state =/

I'm pretty sure there would be no need to ask for help if that were the case :).
