Hello. This is my first custom sprite, the Business Scrub from Minish Cap was used as a base for it.
Tell me what ya think of it.
-
Looks good, great start. Is it more than just a recolor from the MC scrub? Either way, that's a great way to learn.
Perhaps you could add maybe a little yellow in the leaves? I remember them being slightly less monochrome.
-
Is this better? I took a closer look at a picture of one.
-
Okay, I know that it's a bad idea to double post, but I wanted some feedback on this.
P.S. Could someone tell how to show an image without attaching it?
-
Using an image-hosing site like "imageshack". Either make a new account (so you can keep track of all your uploads), or copy all of the URLs from your images to a .TXT file so you don't lose them.
It also makes it possible to post multiple images to one post. Just use [nocode](http://your url)[/nocode] tags to put your image onto a post.
Also, while your Mad Scrub looks like a good start (the leaves look better than the original Business Scrub's), you still can't really tell that it's a Mad Scrub as opposed to a normal Deku Scrub. The eyes, the body shape aren't right.

Yeah, any image hosting site will do, then just type bracketIMGclosebracketURLOFIMAGEbracket/IMGclosebracket.
I wrote it out like that because I didn't want it to just take place and appear properly, but I'll try it anyway:
(http://url of your image)
where the img stands for image, obviously. IT DIDN'T WORK!
There's also a button for it next to the youtube button, above the smiley faces. Just shove the URL in there between the [img[ and the [/img[
except pretend the second in the pair of [ is a ]http://...
Sorry if this doesn't make any sense whatsoever...
As for the scrub, Miles, I kind of agree that it's not shaped the same as the mad scrubs from N64, but at the same time, I think it's a 3D-2D issue, some things just have different body types in 2D. Don't all deku in OoT have the mad scrub-type body shape? But Sage of Twilight, if you want to do a Deku Scrub more like that, I'd be awesome, and great practice, though.
As for the flower, the way it looks is totally viewed from the top, like it's flat against a wall or something. Zelda's view is more kinda like 3/4ths, where it's kinda looking straight down, but at more of a front angle, if you get what I'm saying. You might want to employ foreshortening, shrink the back petals to they're slightly behind the rest of the flower.
You may want to use this as a reference, or use it however you want, I don't care. It's an edit I did of the flowers that shoot little fireballs from the gameboy zeldas.

(I did that with the image tags. I don't actually know how to attach images!)

Hmmm :-\ The N64 Deku scrubs look the same in game, but different in the artwork. I guess I should get to work on the scrub then.
@Donotfeedthemax: Thanks for the sprite sheet. I used them to make this Deku Flower. Better?
-
You can just call me Max :)
They look a lot better, angle wise, from here anyway. Did you try them in a mockup to see if they fit? They look like they might could use a little more shading, but they might also be fine, it's hard to say. Overall, they're pretty swell, though.
-
Okay Max. XD
Sooo
I think I put it into a mock up.
How does it look?
-
Here is Navi the annoying fairy! >:D

I made link using the wind waker.
