Entertainment / Re: [Spoilers: Zelda TP] Are there any Zora in PH?
« on: June 26, 2007, 05:54:57 pm »
It is kinda stupid that water creatures like the Zora had to EVOLVE into Rito's but cave/rock thingies like Gorons who cant even swim in water did not change at all XD Even though Hyrule got flooded.

I don't think its been confirmed that the Zora evolved into Rito... Just the stone symbol is the same.

Another thing is that the Zora must have evolved into normal humans/hylians (Don't know if they had pointy ears). Its the scale that turns them into a bird like human, as the prince shows.

Marriage has become more and more about just expressing love for eachother, and less about family. So, in our modern world, gay marriage is OK. Still, it's a bit sad, IMO, that we're "lowering" the "requirements" for marriage (excuse my odd wording...).

I would have to agree that there is a change in that we don't see marriage as a requirement for having a family so much anymore where as before the child of an unmarried couple was a !@#$% and that made him/her somewhat of an outcast.. but I think this is a good thing on the whole rather than a bad thing, stops people getting married just because they are pregnant and stops the discrimination against those known as bastards prior to the change, and anyway I thought marriage was the unifying of two people who love each other and has always been seen as this.. the main point to me in true marriages is that of the love between the bride and the groom and not that they can now have a family... Another thing I want to add is that arranged marriages do take place and this seems to be simply family orientated and status orientated rather than about love and this has often been looked at rather oddly from time to time by societies that don't do it.

Okay, obviously a little late, but, I've only just had a chance to get playing with it a little bit.

A friend and classmate of mine knows katakana and understands simple japanese, so he's able to help me fumble through some of the text.

Several of you were wondering why you write a 7 on the sign to get the sword? Well the fairy and some other clues keep pointing you back to the 'coast' [there might be more instruction, but this is just what we could figure out.] Head down to the south cost and count up the number of palm trees. You guessed it. 7. I'll probably get into it a bit more, I've got a short break from school here this coming up weekend, so it might be time to lay back and play a bit.

Also: Am I the only one with an M3 Lite / Simply?

I have an M3 DS Simply.

Well I can answer the question as I have finished it

[SPOILERS]
I have found none but then there might be one or two in some odd side quest that I haven't done but don't count on it or anything.

Looking really good glad to hear its still progressing and all :D.

Edit: Love the use of parallax like effects with the new backgrounds and foregrounds, unless I missed you adding those ages ago. I guess this is a change made with the story change as now backgrounds and foregrounds will make sense?

Debates / Re: Laïcité / separation of state + religion
« on: June 25, 2007, 05:30:49 pm »
I think it would be better if schools didn't make their main focus based on religion but I don't think they should ban it outright. I do think learning about religion is important as it is seemingly such a big part of society but at the same time it irritates me when in a religious education lesson they over promote just one religion over all the rest, I don't want an advert I want to be taught.

Another thing is I think the point made about how parents should be the teachers of religion and the figureheads of the religion, I notice such people who have their faith as it were often lean away from ideas that could lead to doubt and so for me studying philosophy with a teacher who taught from a position of neutrality while teaching was very interesting on all topics and in context to this topic on religion.

So to sum up what I have said I think religion should be taught in schools but without any motive to convert or from any one religions perspective.

From a biological point of view a good deal of hetro sex doesn't produce children due to the use of unnatural contraceptives.. under similar views could that not be seen as similar to bestiality or pedophilia?
Stop trying to stigmatize me as the homophobe, kthxbai.
I never said homosexuality is bad, I'd just like to know why it happens, since it's clearly abnormal compared to heterosexuality. I'm not saying abnormal is bad. Otherwise, I'd have to say Elite Beat Agents or the Village People are bad, and that would make the YMCA mission in EBA bad, but it's damn awesome. K?

I wasn't trying to stigmatize you as you put it, I was simply putting my opinion forward on certain things said in this topic. It seemed a valid point to raise if one is judging someones sexuality based on if it can cause offspring or not..

I've never had problems with Nintendo controllers, except for the 64. B button sticks in, control stick goes limp. Oy. But the rest of Nintendo's products are highly durable. Moldrill dropped his DS in the snow one winter day and didn't realize. The next day he's backtracking to find his DS, and somehow finds it buried in a ton of snow. He brushes it off, and it starts right up. It still works to this day.

One of my SNES controllers no longer works due to over use, I over used N64 controllers and my first gamecube controllers analogue stick no longer works right when trying to do something with the stick in the up position it acts like I'm only holding it up slightly, so in Wind Waker I walk slowly forward all the damn time :P.

In my science class:

In my science class, we were learning about bioligy and what not, about the human brain.  Then someone asked if being gay (homo) had something to do with your brain.  My teacher happily answered "YES, it does have to do with your brain." Then she went on to explain that either the 18th or 19th chromosome would be mixed up, or was defective, and that shaped your "attraction" part of your brain.  So really, being Homo is completely a brain defect, while being Bi is a choice, and being Hetero is your brain working properly.
So if you see someone making out with their same gender, then just think that they would be doing the same to the opposite gender, but their brain is just defective (well I wouldn't say defective, but just mirrored in a way).
Understand?

Doesn't being left handed mean you have a slight genetic abnormality? It makes little difference and I think someones sexuality geneticly caused or not should be taken the same way, its different but not wrong per se.

Graphics Requests/Archive / [Solved] Nice big photo of a GB colour
« on: June 25, 2007, 03:29:58 pm »
Solved thanks to Chaotic_Death

Like with the DS photo I've seen about with people putting screenshots of their own games and whatnot I'd like a suitable gameboy colour photo that it would be possible to do the same with, also it must be on a white background, having a small shadow from the GB is fine mind you.

I have looked on google but so far they have all been a really nasty resolution and/or they are on a poor background, mostly both.

Thanks :).

I'm impressed, I always was quite impressed with how Nintendo with its relatively limited spectrum of goods (relative to Sony and others) still stayed high on the list of what each company is worth.

It's because Nintendo's always been a company you can rely on. My original GameBoy still works perfectly, despite terrible treatment. In fact, I've never had a problem with a Nintendo product ever. Now, Microsoft has given me hell as a games company. My X-Box lasted 4-5 months before committing suicide. I had a PlayStation (original) and it was great. Some of my favourite games ever were released for it. But they were third party games and there's no point supporting Sony over third party. Now, Nintendo makes some excellent first party games.

That is mostly true, I had an original NES that broke down, had faulty connectors inside and from what I've heard is famous for this, but yeah on the whole Nintendo products are made to last, now that they run on disks this might change a little though as they don't seem as hard wearing as cartridges. My gamecube still works fine and I dropped that far too many times by accident, or slipping on ice with it in my bad and landing on it.. caused me more damage than the game cube :P.

This could be something to do with Nintendo's somewhat eccentric business model. The one where you sell your product for a profit. I mean, how quaint!
Lol yeah who'd of thought that possible in this day and age :P.

LOL, I laughed my ass off when I saw this movie XD Such ridiculous burtality and gore can only be seen in Japanese movies :P

Brilliant.

The violence in Battle Royale is very, very low compared to some other American or Japanese films.

True but the style of the film is fairly violent in a rather crazy way compared to most western films.

So we talking about roughly how many hours?

Not that im buying it, gonna r4 it anyways, just curious.

I have to say I play games very fast, especially Zelda games as like most Zelda fans I'm used to the whole Zelda thing.

In the last 3 days I've played between 10 and 12 hours max but I did spend a lot of time just messing around and trying to find heart pieces and doing what side quests there are.

38
Its of reasonable length as far as the main quest goes, theres a good few dungeons although they were smaller than LTTP dungeons and there aren't enough side quests really, in fact mostly its just using new items in old places to get sea charts that are usually custom parts for your ship.

I might really be missing something though as in the menu there are a pair of hands in a box holding nothing.. might be a trading quest, there are also about 5 or 6 different fish to catch.

All in all it could have been better but then its a good game.

Entertainment / Re: [Spoiler] Phantom Hourglass Soundtrack
« on: June 24, 2007, 07:33:54 pm »
Its all pretty good although mostly it sounds like less inspired WW music which is a pity really as so far WW had my favorite music and I had hoped PH being the sequel and all would do as well if not better, the music just didn't sound as epic and full of heritage like some of WWs stuff.

I must say track10 the underground/cave music disappointed me as I usually like that in Zelda games, then I didn't really like it so much in MC either.

Really like track17, its nice and dark and reminds me of MM somehow.

So yeah its a mixed bag really, some quite nice pieces some not so great and a bit lacking.

Nice Job!

I've been trying to rip the models, but i've been having trouble D:
Thats a shame but I'd imagine it'll get done at some point.

This has such potential. Think about it, fan games with Phantom Hourglass quality graphics :D
I'd hope they used slightly better textures in a fan game but yeah, one problem is I bet there will be another WW PH on the go as soon as the link model is ripped :P.
