Damn that sucks, I must say though when my Wii hadn't arrived after a week from when it was supposed to I thought it might have been stolen but luckily it arrived safe and sound.

I really enjoyed the first film but the second was only so so, still worth watching simply for the craziness I would say though.

I read some of the manga but unfortunatly the girl I was borrowing them of only had a few, love the detail on the guns in the manga, especially love the ingrams, I must say I prefer the cool and collected look of one of the characters in the manga compared to the crazed look and blond hair he had in the film.

Debates / Re: The meaning of life.
« on: June 24, 2007, 06:11:45 pm »
The meaning of life is arbitrary.

You can't really debate the meaning of life, because so many people will have different views on it.

People are bringing religion in to this topic, but I see it as unrelated for the most parts.

Meaning, what is meaning?

1.   to have in mind as one's purpose or intention; intend: I meant to compliment you on your work.
2.   to intend for a particular purpose, destination, etc.: They were meant for each other.
3.   to intend to express or indicate: What do you mean by “liberal”?
4.   to have as its sense or signification; signify: The word “freedom” means many things to many people.

etc.

If we were to question the meaning of our lives, that would be futile. It's an improbable question. No answer exists which will grasp the full truth if there were to be any.

It's quite the same as asking; What is the meaning of a paper?

There is no meaning. A paper is a tool. Perhaps life can be compared to a paper, and we are the pen, writing our own things down into our own paper.

Agreed, I don't think it all means anything, life just does what it does.. to state the obvious :P.

Though I do think some life can give itself meaning in some sense of the word through its actions but this is some kind of mock meaning.

How about the green mark in the phantom dungeon?  thanks
Close the DS while the phantom map is on the top screen and the right area of the ocean map you carry is on the bottom screen then close your DS, the green orb should stick to the bottom screen map.

Just finished it, will be 100%ing the game when it gets released here in the UK. I hope all the chit chat that I couldn't read due to it being in Japanese will be as charming as in Wind Waker.

I cant find the mermaid...  Help!
Talk to the guy then go outside, she should be in the water near his house, be careful though as you can scare her away easily. I think you need to hit her with the boomerang hehe.

I'm really enjoying this game and the graphics in motion while playing are really nice even though the textures are a bit weird sometimes, the stylus control has offered me few problems and works really well and the use of various features of the DS (mic, touchscreen for writing etc) to solve puzzles is really nice.

To get into the ladies basement thingy you have to mark the location of the three torches on the island on the map. here:

now. how do you get into the fire cave? i cant open el door D:

Spoiler:
Face the candles and blow them out with the mic

Pretty cool man. I got to the town just now but I found a bug which stopped me from playing, when I went to the INN I stayed the night by talking to him twice and the screen faded to black, when it faded back in again I couldn't move, I was overlapping the INN keeper if that matters..

The only other thing I might say is that in the forest it might be nice to have a little more contrast between the green of the trees and the green of the grass/ground.

Might be nice if you could make the screen 2x as big as an option if thats possible.

But yeah good job, I would play a full game made from this, in fact I'm going to go and play it again hehe.

I personally don't like discworld so much, I've read only a little of it mind you but I just find it borrows ideas from too many places, I did find one of the games quite amusing though.

Oh and I don't know if it counts but the Dark Tower books by Stephen King were an amazing read for me and of course the LOTR and the Hobbit were great although I found them a tad long winded in places.

Warhammer fantasy novels are brilliant!

I've heard this from plenty of places so I'm thinking of looking into them. Although I'm not sure if I should be looking at the more Warhammer stuff or the 40k stuff, any advice anyone?

Again another set of books I'm not sure if really fit into fantasy, these ones seem to be a rather loose fit into the genre especially but the Vampire chronicles were a fun read.. although the last load weren't so great.

Eh I've done this a fair amount, know a few people who do it a lot, been in some old 2WW military places where they made bombs, old mines, derelict buildings and all that. I've never had problems with the police but I have from others in these places, some homeless guy caused me trouble once..

I don't think I ever released a movement engine.. unless as part of a different example :P.

But yeah what Naz says is about right, use create object and then set the arrow to the direction Link is facing when you shoot, then have some events like:

If the arrows direction = up then set its Y position to its current Y position - 2

You'd need an event like this for up, down, left and right assuming they are the only directions the arrow ever moves in.

I've heard of this kind of thing working in cinemas, I think they do it in Disney and other theme parks etc.

Also I never got the point of ambient light TV things (not sure of the name), where there are lights around the TV that project different colours onto the wall the Screen is mounted on depending on the colours on the screen.. yet they seem to sell lol.

Surely this will only work on the Wii it was downloaded with, from what I've been told thats how all the downloads work and how they stop people just copying the games downloaded and giving them to friends.

Thanks for the help though, are we doing much wrong making such things?
Nope, a new set of laws (just search for MSER if you want info) came out in 2005 which permits the creation of up to 100g of explosive material for personal experimentation without a license :).

(Doing anything dangerous or malicious is obviously still illegal though >.>)

Haha fantastic then, thanks for the help again.

www.hobbychem.co.uk :D - I use them a lot, they are bloody awesome as they are fast and discreet.
Ah fantastic its within the uk, and they sell fuses.

For a while I did have access to black powder, but not anymore. I live out in the country side you see and the local hardware store used to sell it and would allow us to buy it in small amounts.. I imagine he knew we were making small explosives :P but they don't sell it anymore..

Thanks for the help though, are we doing much wrong making such things?

Haha fantastic, just curious though is this the same "flash powder" that used to be used for certain cameras?
Not quite, its a similar mix and will produce the same effect on if burned unconfined but this stuff is a lot less stable and expands at a far quicker rate (hence the explosion). It was hand made (god that stuff gets everywhere >.>) with a mix of about 30% 1 micron aluminium flake and 70%  potassium perchlorate (reagent strength).

Ah yeah, sounds less dangerous than the original stuff though as they used such chemicals as sulfur and I hear that mix can be kinda volatile.

I was looking into making some explosive paste and I found the ingredients, it seems I would need to sign for them if I got them from the pharmacy though :P.
