Hehe, found another.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glNYL6fvBS8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glNYL6fvBS8</a>

Crappy camera footage again. I wonder If I should post the one with the bannana or the under water one.

If any of you want to see something destroyed (thats not expensive) post and I'll go and film it being blown up.

Yeh sorry, I was trying to get behind cover so I didn't get hit by any shrapnel. Camera angles were not my main concern at the time XD.

rofl!  Say... have you ever considered doing this to a stuffed animal?  Don't think it would light on fire, would it?

Already done it before. The funniest thing to detonate is an apple - It gets completly vaporised.

Flash powder works on brute force, its not an exothermic reaction so you don't get any heat.

LMAO. I love the delay of sound on poor quality movies.
That movie was pretty sweet. I didn't know you were such a terrorist. ^__^

I did this for years when I was young but stopped around 9/11 because the materials became immensly difficult to get hold of. Fortunatly I recently found a supplier that can supply the basic chemicals I need (I hate kitchen chemistry, I only used reagent strength :D).

You should have seen some of the olds ones I've done before, I've even made full scale ammonium nitrate / petrol (think TNT) mixs (only did that one once though, to !@#$% dangerous). Rocket launchers and improvised shotguns are also pretty fun :D.

Haha fantastic, just curious though is this the same "flash powder" that used to be used for certain cameras?

Not quite, its a similar mix and will produce the same effect on if burned unconfined but this stuff is a lot less stable and expands at a far quicker rate (hence the explosion). It was hand made (god that stuff gets everywhere >.>) with a mix of about 30% 1 micron aluminium flake and 70%  potassium perchlorate (reagent strength).

Ah yeah, sounds less dangerous than the original stuff though as they used such chemicals as sulfur and I hear that mix can be kinda volatile.

I was looking into making some explosive paste and I found the ingredients, it seems I would need to sign for them if I got them from the pharmacy though :P.

Yeh sulpher is hidiously dangerous, in increases the sensitivity of the compound and increases the flash point. Best to never touch the stuff.

Ah fantastic its within the uk, and they sell fuses.

For a while I did have access to black powder, but not anymore. I live out in the country side you see and the local hardware store used to sell it and would allow us to buy it in small amounts.. I imagine he knew we were making small explosives :P but they don't sell it anymore..

Thanks for the help though, are we doing much wrong making such things?

Nope, a new set of laws (just search for MSER if you want info) came out in 2005 which permits the creation of up to 100g of explosive material for personal experimentation without a license :).

(Doing anything dangerous or malicious is obviously still illegal though >.>)
