Hey ZFGC,
Majora, Antidote, and I will be collaborating with MG-Zero and Star on developing the next rightful evolution to ZFGC. The decision was to move ZFGC off of its current platform onto a fresh codebase that is based off of Vanilla, a PHP Framework initially targeted to forums but is extensible enough to have it do just about any other content-related task.
Tomorrow around 2PM US East, I will be hosting a Google Hangout where you can see everyone work in real-time on the next update. I cannot speak for the others when they'll be on, so just note that the time I noted was the time that I plan on starting at. If you wish to participate in the hackathon, feel free to hop onto #zfgc (via the chat tab or your obligatory IRC client)!
I will be working from 2PM all the way till sometime late on friday, then again on Saturday in the morning some time.
Anyone have any questions? ;p
Oh one last thing to note: I'm leaving it to the other participants in this to post on their own discretion regarding when/if they're doing a Google Hangout or livestream. Keep in mind that there may be more events like this in the upcoming weeks!

I will be online from 9pm UK time on Friday night. Earlier if I can get home from work in time. I plan on being online fro most of the weekend when I am not sleeping, going to the toilet or eating.
This is going to be much fun :D. The idea is that by the time the weekend is over, zfgc 3.0 will be aside from the theming, implementation complete :P.

If you've been following in IRC then you probably already know, but ZFGC3 has been put on an indefinite hold until we either
a) Get a response from Vanilla's dev team
or
b) Come up with a new plan for ZFGC3
Hopefully we'll be able to carry on with development soon but I discovered a major security flaw which wasn't worth the risk. So until then please wait patiently.

I'm confused, why does this halt the plans? I mean, if you identified it and observed that changing it does the hashing - doesn't that solve the vulnerability in a one-time fix?

We want to see how Vanilla responds to a security flaw, if they don't respond well (which they haven't at all so far) then we don't want to use that software.

It's not worth the risk, for we don't know if there are any more major vulnerailities.

The idea is to observe Vanilla Team's attitude towards security issues. If they ignore us or drag their feet with pulling the patch, then that means that there are other security issues that they probably treat the same too. It all adds up to a not so pretty picture. SMF does the same thing, and that's one of the reasons why we want to get away from SMF in the first place.

I am officially denouncing the use of Vanilla on behalf of the ZFGC Team. They refused to acknowledge the pull request, the post, and the tweet. That being said, we have planned an alternative route.
ZFGC3 is now going to be based upon the latest and greatest installation oh phpBB 3, MediaWiki, and potentially using WordPress for stuff too.
What I've decided to do with the repository is that its going to be left open, but set to "read-only". You can find the repository over at: https://bitbucket.org/gm112/zfgc3/overview
