That XP Professional Corporate [Bone] sounds good, since I am used to Windows XP on my laptop. I think I'll try that.

EDIT: I came across something called TinyXP. Anyone know anything about that? (I couldn't find any info, just a torrent)

Not sure about TinyXP, but there's one torrent labelled XP Gamer Edition.  It seems to be a stripped down version of XP optimized for games.  The iso was only 92 megs.

Arby's - good, not great
McD - No.
BK - Pretty good, actually.
Wendy's - Also pretty good.
A&W - Amazing, too bad there aren't many around here.
Checkers - What's wrong with you?!
Boston Market - Hellz Yeah.
KFC - Good biscuits.
White Castle - Epic.

Did I miss anything? (And before anyone mentions Sonic, there are absolutely none of those around here..and I'm not going into pizza, nothing beats fresh in that area).

ITT: Japanophile is a stupid word

Yes, well what other versions of that word would you prefer?
Weeaboo?

Thats an even stupider word.

........desu?  *shot*

In any case, I'm not against dubs in all cases, but I'm a bit neutral between the two when it comes to SF2:TAM

Dude, upgrade your system.  You can get much better graphics cards for pretty cheap these days, and get some more RAM.  It doesn't have anything to do with this game, but get another Harddrive as well! (you can get like 500 gb for $100 nowadays :D)

I plan on getting a whole new computer all together...

I've seen like really really nice ones for like $600.

2.4ghz dual-core
315mb graphics card (or some !@#$%)
2gb ram
250gb harddrive
etc.

*rolled up newspaper* no.  That's nowhere near good for it's price.  Go to cyberpowerpc.com and look at the mega specials that're priced around $600.  Most of em have a Geforce 8500 GT, one of em ($55 more than 600) even has two in SLI.  And every OTHER spec blows all of those away too.  Granted, for the price, it's mostly barebones hardware, but since you already have an OS and a monitor you can transfer both those over and you're making a killing.  Where the hell did you find those specs for that price?  X-x

Other Discussion / Re: When did jesus die?
« on: May 09, 2008, 12:17:13 am »
lol religion

on a more serious note, jesus rose from the dead seven days after being crucified. dis is known as easter.

<_<... no.

Easter has nothing to do with Christianity. Easter celebrates Ishtar, the fertility goddess. Quick like a bunny, my friend.

The day Christians celebrate (or rather should celebrate <_<) is Passover. But yeah at the 7 days thing :p

The season of lent pretty much exists because they forgot when Jesus actually died and needed to put it back.  He died roughly 40 days away from 'easter', if I remember this right.

So can someone explain to me why it's all "JESUS DIED FOR YOUR SINS" when he came back?

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of being a martyr?

I quite agree, and in fact there's actually a song by Tool about that very subject (Eulogy).  According to the Christian belief system however, the consideration is that his death on the cross is symbolic of the weight of humanity's sins being lifted.  Even though he came back, so I don't see how it's really death at the end of the process.

Not only do secuROM schemes always suck, they always manage to !@#$% you off after the game's long gone.  What happens when the servers go down and secuROM can't check?  Your game is worthless, completely and utterly worthless.  First they make System Shock 2 a !@#$% to run on XP onward and now this ><

Shweet, but the hard dnb style the first few tracks has sound reminiscent-but-inferior-to the earlier song Burn so far.  From what you say about the later tracks, I'll probably warm up after hearing those.

What brand drive was it?  If the failure rate is consistant and I have the brand (because I do have a 500 gig external) I may consider getting another backup one.

<_< erm Source and Ali; please keep spam in the spam forum

Yeah, what Jay and Fraz said. To be honest, I'm surprised nobody else used him. Even more surprising is that nobody has used The Oracle from Indigo Prophecy.

That'd be a good choice too.  My runner up would be Walton Simons from Deus Ex though.

Entertainment / Re: 7 Commandments All Video Games Should Obey
« on: May 01, 2008, 12:42:23 am »
That article pisses me off.

GRAPHICS MATTER.  Get over it guys, it is a GRAPHICAL MEDIUM.  Videogames are not art, and never will be art until you guys get past the "LOL GAMEPLAAY ONLY! I HAT UR BROWN GAME" stage.  Photographs, paintings, movies-- they use complex lighting and color palletes, which give these peices of art atmosphere and contribute to their meaning/purpose/etc.  The games that are brown and grey are brown and grey for a reason-- its contributing to the feeling and atmosphere of the game that was intended by the creator.  They didn't want to make some silly happy game about a plumber-- they wanted to create a dark, threatening wasteland, DEAL WITH IT.  JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE PUT EFFORT INTO THE ART AND GRAPHICS OF A GAME DOES NOT MEAN TAHT THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE IT "REALISTIC"

Sorry for the mini-rant, I'm just tired of the silly argument that graphics don't matter <_<

But graphics are in many cases, an addition to gameplay.  It depends on the quality and design of the game.  Nothing graphical can replace the creativity behind the game, and the article sums that up nicely.  That's the point it's trying to make with that commandment, not that graphics have no intrinsic value entirely but that their value depends on the quality of the gameplay.  Otherwise, they're not a game.  Just like if you look at some POS hollywood big budget movie nowadays, you don't look for lots of explosions and sex and whatnot, you look for a damn plot.  If you're even more of an avid movie fan, you look at the way the camera is handled and angles are used.  This is all a facet of art.  Games are the same way, I'm not gonna buy another racing game just because it's the same game with better graphics.  On the flipside, good graphics can only improve the best games already there, like Shadow of the Colossus, which happens to be one of my favorites.  The art direction is fantastic in the game but it took more steps than just that, it made the controls detailed and the enemies interesting and the plot unique/amazing.  It even used a fictional language just to make the world more immersive.  Same with the Jet Set Radio series, another of my favorites.  You can't argue the art direction is great, but the controls and story just make it what it is- playable.  Not good looking, not eye candy, but playable.

You definitely need some Motorhead.

Also,:

Citizen Cope
Skindred *
Every Time I Die
At The Drive-In
Muse
Electric Six
Hed P.E.
Jurassic 5*
Kyuss
Mindless Self Indulgence
Motorpsycho
Pitchshifter
Rage Against The Machine*
Immortal Technique*
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists
The Roots
Faith No More*
Nine Inch Nails*
Tool*

*= highly recommended.

If you like any of the bands on this list and want anymore in that specific vein lemme know, while you say no heavy metal, I'm not sure where you draw the limit at "heavy" and a lot of my music is hardcore/metal, techno, rock, etc.  So it's difficult to come up with some spur of the moment (*has a huge music collection and loves every song in it*)

Oops. I meant the Renegade stuff. I want to see another Renegade. But alas, I an unable to play C&C3, as my computer sucks.

Renegade was made while Westwood was still it's own studio, and to be honest I think it's the worst game westwood made while they were their own studio.  Of course, that's nothing compared to the horrendousness of Generals, but I actually think C&C3 and Kane's Wrath are pretty awesome.  They definitely brought back a rush in the series that I haven't felt since the first Red Alert.

Disclaimer:  I'm a huge C&C fan and so I agree with you, I wish Westwood were still together on their own.  But many of them were involved in C&C3 under the EA label, and the new game that Petroglyph (a few of the original C&C team, new studio name) made, Universe At War, was just really lackluster.  It really brought me down, it was like a new starcraft game in the lame sense, and I think they coulda done so much better with it.

Still, a guy at EB Games told me that the game has other characters that aren't so emo. :/ Who knows?

I do, I've played the damn thing.

Actually, TWEWY is a DS game.  But I actually like the music a lot, it's like a triphop mix of JSRF style indie.

I also like the battle system >.>  The pins are pretty awesome.  The character development is also pretty damn good, regardless of whether or not the main char is stereotypical.

No, the battle system is a clusterfuck where the enemies are free to anally rape you without lube. you basically heck and slash while praying that they don't get close enough to attack. If they do, you're !@#$% out of luck, because battle movement is !@#$%. Why can't they just let us run freely like they do outside of battle?

Not commenting on character development because the characters were stupid to begin with. I was extremely annoyed by Neku constantly whining about how he doesn't understand people and other character's constant jabs at his antisocialness. (oh yes, brooding loner is such an original archetype.)

Too late XD

Anywho, the battle system is useful so long as you know how to control it.  The pins bring enough diversity into the bottom screen that it's a matter of preference when it comes to how you attack, be it one of the projectile (tap) pins, the shield (circle) or the sword (line).  I agree that movement could've been freed up, but that'd make some of the pins' attacks a little more annoying to execute.  One doesn't even really have the RIGHT to complain about the top screen, considering you can set it to NPC controlled as soon as you let go of the dpad (and step back in any time).  You could argue incompetance when it comes to the NPC syncing for the fusion pin, but considering you can equip items that improve the sync rate for that it's also a null point.  And to give yourself more of a challenge you can chain the battles up and lower your level while fighting for more drops.  They pretty much thought of everything in that respect.  The only thing I think needed work was the style ranks.  The battle system involves a lot of micromanagement on it's own, so they could've tweaked the style ranks to be a bit less emphasized on a speed:dmg ratio.

Bad game or not the music !@#$% owns!

The music is also bad. Crappy techno and some KH-like pop song.

lame.

You mean standard Mario Kart music. Once again you impress us with your mimicricy of terrible arguments against Wii games simply because of the system they're on and who made it. I have no idea how you can call the music bad when it's just how Mario Kart music is supposed to be.

MORTAL KOMBAT WII?!?!   ;)

I almost got MKW.  Strangely, I got the call from gamestop 2 or 3 days ago that I could pick it up.  Their automated system didn't seem to realize I'd switched the preorder from mario kart to The World Ends With You and already picked that game up >.>

Updates / Re: A Hoffy Review: BioShock.
« on: April 27, 2008, 10:35:19 pm »
pretty accurate review, though I'dve liked to see more emphasis on one or two things.  First of all would be the vita-chambers.  They make the game too easy, in a way >< instead of a checkpoint or the like it just turns into "back at the vita-chamber, run back".  The second was, while you brought up the custom ammo, it seems secondary to the plasmids, but in reality if you use it right it becomes just as useful.  As far as the plasmids go, extra abilities are a plus to mention, like shooting water w/ the lightning plasmid and shocking everyone in the vicinity.

Anywho, glad you enjoyed the game.  I have the PC version and still play it alot.  There's nothing like when you're bored and go hunting big daddies or nitro/houdini splicers.

Now add him to your friends list and torment to no end.  In fact, ask for full rules/regulations so he hasta type out a full legal contract before saying "well that was a lot of effort for wasted time."

Also, he mispelled "following".   :P
