Category -
Costume Contest
Theme -
Halloween
Rules -
The costumes have to be different from your everyday clothes.
Requirements -
Costume submissions should have a clear photograph.
Time Frame -
The Costume contest has no real deadline, but its evaluation will start on the night of Friday the 31st or Saturday the 1st depending on which will be easier for those participating.

Prizes -
1st place will have their user rank changed to "Pumpkin King" or "Pumpkin Queen" and will be featured in the ZFGC Weekly site news.

Contest Description -
This contest is mainly meant as a little way to celebrate the Halloween Holiday. The Costume contest is being held close to the weekend to be close to when people actually put their costumes on. Once most of the submissions are in, the poll will be set up with any further entrants added into the poll later; you'll have the option to change your vote in case you change your mind. The judging for this will be a master poll of all the entrants with the winner decided based on having the most votes; you'll be able to vote for your three favorites.

I might enter it myself, lol, it depends on how busy I am this weekend and if I can get a costume or find an old one at my house, >.<.

I decided that even at this rate and with everything else going on for people, having the other sections of the contest were a little much; it's not that they would not have been bad, just that there would have been a lack of participants. Really, if the mini-game one had three entrants, there is a good chance that there would have been a clear winner more than likely, and I couldn't have been that, so it would have been one of the other two. The graphics contest, while easy, is also something that doesn't seem like it would make fruition either.

So yeah, I simplified the contest just to be the costume one. If there is a demand for the return of the mini-game or graphic sub-contests, then I can bring them back, but it might be better to just keep this all simple. I mean, heck, even I could throw a costume together.

Checked the local Superdrug, they don't sell it here. I think it's only available in London or something silly like that xD

Besides, it's just eyeliner with a bigger handle or slightly lighter or something pointless :)

Post by: 4Sword on October 21, 2008, 09:53:33 pm: I was going to say something along the lines of if you wanted eye shadow as well, you could just give yourself a black eye, but that felt terrible. But yeah, as long as it is a costume, participating with it couldn't hurt. Heck, I am still trying to figure out my own costume; still thinking about just using the black mask, but meh.

Oh, and this is not the final image for it as I was aiming on more of a Jack-o'-Lantern than a pie, lol, but you get the idea kind of what something could look like. So yeah, this isn't the final, but here it is:

Currently there are 6 people in this contest and I know that there are 2 or 3 other people who are dressing up this Halloween as something. Meh, oh, and I tried to sprite a custom pumpkin in Minish Cap style, lol, but I am not that good of a spriter, >.<. The funny thing about pumpkin spriting is that the bad attempts look like basketballs.

Post by: 4Sword on October 23, 2008, 04:22:14 pm: I took that type of contingency into account while putting this contest together and seeing as how others will probably run into the same type of condition as yourself, the contest's voting will begin a little after Halloween. But yeah, as long as the submission isn't coming in significantly after most of the other submissions, then it can be waited for.

If the submission is kind of late but the voting is still going on, it can be edited in and as the poll will be set up for people to be able to change their mind, people can change their vote if they want to.

So yeah, you should be fine.

Oh, and like I said with the news item, the contest is going to be happening near the end of the week (well that is kind of what I have been saying for a while, but whatever). Oh, and Daylight Savings Time ends November 2 at 2:00 AM. I don't know why that is relevant. I guess that means that the contest itself should fit snuggly in the weekend.

Post by: TheDarkJay on October 29, 2008, 08:07:01 pm: So yeah, I bought me some black-hair-colouring-spray-stuff...this can go wrong in so many ways. A friend of mine tried to trick me into buying some permanent stuff, but I outfoxed her by noting the big words "Permanent" written on the box xD

I also had to track down a white long-sleeve shirt which is very hard for some reason. A friend of mine has some really good, thick eye-liner apparently so I can get down the 'dark-eyed' look easily enough.

On the bright side, I know one girl who is going to the Halloween in cosplay as well, maybe she'll go as someone else from Death Note and I'll get to ask for hot-cosplay-make-outs? Nah, never'll happen. 1) She'd say no. 2) I would never have the balls :P

Voting will open on weekend and will be done on a poll. Costume submission photographs should be sent to me via PM - I'll send PMs out if I require someone's so I can start the voting sooner. If you are interested in participating you can still sign-up as well.

If you have the photograph(s) done for you in your costume, then you can send them to me via PM whenever. Preferably though, I want to start the voting before the weekend is over, so the absolute deadline would be Sunday night - but I can extend it just a little bit so long as the submission time is not far past that date and so long as everyone is not breaking the deadline.

I'll be sending out PMs either later tonight or early tomorrow as reminders. There is this thing going on back at my high school back home that is like a haunted high school horror house. It's really cool and I want to go through it; it's genius really, the student council leader who was my old programming teacher really came up with a good idea - there was a huge line and it is $5 admission. The profit margin is !@#$% huge.
