I know this is a story as old as time, but i cant get a bloody Wii.
I know there were shortages, but it came out almost a year ago, and i cant get one now!
and its for my birthday too.
I know other people have had this problem, but its really annoying!
I even resorted to checking Ebay, but i didn't see anything that caught my eye...

I have been searching too and the weird thing is is everywhere I've looked sells the games and accessories for it but not the system. :huh: I know Walmart might have it but wouldn't trust them. FYI: I got a GBA GameShark for christmas and it was broken before I removed the seal from the box! >:( I took it back and went through 16 other GBA GameSharks and they were all broken! :-[ In the end, they gave me store credit to get a GBA game to replace it with.

Poor unlucky people. I have connections with people (who are crazy enough to stand outside in the middle of the night), and got mine for the steal deal of $300.

the guys in HMV said they didnt know when theyd be getting them in, and that nintendo was probably doing it so theyd have big-ass sales for christmas.

At the YMCA I go to they give you a chance to win a Wii if you recommend a friend to join there...
But you know... Thats prolly just here in Florida. You should've got a Wii earlier!! Its a great investment; Or at least will be when we get some good Rpgs on it.

Meh, I can't really help you. You are the one who knows better your zone.
In my case, I just went to a not-so-famous store, 10 km from here, and their site said they had Wiis. I just went there on the day one at 10am. I just knew no one would go to -that- store to get a Wii. So, I just went there, raced to it and got the only one they had (1 of the 5000 Portugal got for day-one).
So, try to search on less known electronic/domestical shops.
Or, in case you are desperate to play Twilight Princess on Wii (the only thing worth its money), import one from France or Spain or something like that.

Damn Nintendo and their marketing to old people. Now all the old people can buy their Wii and their brain training games, and all the real gamers get left out.

Take it from me, if I could have, I would have. I just didnt have the money. I cant wait for ToS2, but I've played on my cousins, and I love some of the multiplayer games, which are what i really want... Although MySims looks pretty cool to me... (Does anyone know if you can have more then one save/character? i know that may sound stupid, but It doesnt say anywhere...)

Wii Sports and Wii Play (Fun multiplayer...)
Super Paper Mario.
Metroid 3
MySims
Red Steel
Resident Evil 4 (didnt get it on GC...)
Super Smash Bros Brawl (Who doesnt?)
They're the ones i really want...

Its really annoying because a few weeks ago there were signs all over town saying "In Stock" and as soon as i get the means to get one, they're no-where to be seen.

Good marketing and hype, combined with fun games.
Wii Sports, WarioWare, Wii Play and Mario Party are pretty good party games, even if that's not your taste. Titles like Lair or Heavenly Sword might be GamerGames, that doesn't make them any better than good PartyGames. A good game is a good game.
I guess it'd be more fun to us if the Wii's success was because of "hardcore games", but meh, who cares. I'm happy I have a Wii. If I feel I'm not getting enough games I like, I'd buy another console.
Also, yes, this is an attept to create a system wars topic. It's about time we had another one of those.
And on-topic: Most stores here in Belgium have a few Wii units lying around. Import a PAL one!

And i think the Wii got popular because even a 103 year old pension can play it. Infact, one did. Personally i like the 360 as well, but not as much. The ps3 is such a waste of money. MGS4 look like the only good game on it.

Oh, I thought this was about America. If you're willing to import all your games and WiiPoints, you could get an American Wii. Earlier and more releases. It might even be cheaper in general too.

I wouldnt mind importing the Wii if PAL worked on it, but I cant be bothered with importing everything, id much rather just be able to buy stuff during my free's at college.

If you want to try going to unpopular stores then go for it. I managed to get ahold of two Wii's, 3 days before Christmas, at a Toys'R'Us that is 3 minutes from my house in a populated city. Many times before there have been people that camped out at that store too. It was just by chance that the particular store happened to have at least two Wii's in stock for more than 15 minutes (enough time for another person to drive from work and buy a second one).

Come to think of it, I havent checked Toys 'R' Us, i may have too...
My mums phoned woolworhts and theyre gonna phone her when they get one in stock, as theres and offer on... 10% off or something.

And that's pretty much my stance as well. While I didn't buy any Wii games between February and a few days ago (I got Super Paper Mario :D) I have been playing my Wii pretty much everyday, or something like that. The virtual console has kept me going beyond belief, having played through several games I never had the chance to. And I've also used the Wii to go back to a few GameCube games I never finished.
And at the end of the year, I'm going to have Metroid, Mario, Smash, Zack & Wiki and Umbrella to keep me hooked.

I got mine at The Falls (a mall that's next to almost empty). There were like three in stock. My mom went OMFG!!! and bought one in order to try and exercise herself... She hasn't touched the Wiimote at all... (and I only have Wiisports cuz I'm too poor to buy Zelda TP or Metroid Prime 3)
But here's the advice I've gotten: If you find it, claim it.

I got one of the retail price of £180 ages ago. Don't use it much in all honesty...
Still, it's mine and you can't have it ;) I don't have many games for it, and I really wish I had some single-player games, except for my dads annoying racing one...

i, or my friend rather got me my wii within the 7 minutes that they were sold on amazon at school :x
i wasn't expecting that to sell out no where near as fast as that
and i didnt expect them to be sold out months after the launch, but to still be sold out now? O_O
