I tell you. Everytime I try to make a game I get discouraged.I see all these better games being programmed.
All I can use is frickin' TGF.I try to learn GML but I cant absorb that by teachin' it to myself. The only somewhat
improvement I've made in programming is HTML.That's the only self taught programming I have.I just wonder
if anyone else has a "Habitual" discouragement that happens to themselves erveytime you see somethin'.

Well...whenever I see a game that I think is better than mine,
I get more inspired and work harder because I want my game to be as good as that.
Although I've never used TGF, I'm sure it can make great games if you work hard enough.

What that discouragement as advice and follow it.  For example if someone say:

"Dude, don't make that game by yourself, it will never get done!"

That is a good comment IMO, that means that you will never complete it, which is true 99% of the time.  Maybe if you can't program, get into concept artism, moddeling, music composing, etc.... and you can still take part in game makeing.

If you can explain a little more what the people said that was discourageing you maybe we could help instead of just agreeing and whining about our own !@#$%.

It's just that everyone thinks that GML or C is the god hood of home gaming. No one here is into old TGF anymore.
We need like GML classes or something to help those like me.

Just start small. Make a platformer, or a trivia game or something simple to start, then start increasing the games content. I wanted to start making a HUUGE zelda game a long time ago, and tried something smaller called Zelda Bomb Squad where you had to diffuse a bomb by answering a question yes or no. If you got it wrong, Link would die in a hilarious way. I never finished it, but it acted as a bridge for me into a land of bigger games.

You have to crawl before you can walk, and you have to be born before you can crawl...if that made sense...

stick with TGF, or better yet, upgrade to MMF - you make TGF sound bad, but it really doesn't suck THAT much....MMF improves on it greatly and gets rid of the small bugs and annoyances of TGF, and its basically the same layout and interface and "coding". So use that, you can make some great games in it.

Dont worry, I made my game in TGF...and I still use TGF for everything. Even though they made MMF2 a lot better and faster. I still like the simplicity of TGF.
