Your original design had the best shading, just not enough contrast to give the piece depth :3 Also added floaties inside the goop dude :D

Ahhh, thanks for the tip. No wonder I couldn't figure out why it looked so plain. But I would much rather get my current style perfected.

@DJ Venom - Nice transparency effect!
I had to update my previous attempt because a few things were bugging me about it ;)
Used DJ Venoms floaty things to make it more interesting.


Very nice, I like that style aswell, But it doesn't really fit the game we have planned out. :)

Much better! Good job. I have no idea why you got annoyed though. You asked for help and when we helped you, you got annoyed lol
Oh well, at least you apologized now.
Time is key when spriting. The more time you put in, the better(usually!)
I made another edit just because my 1st one was so crappy. Im learning too.


To be completely honest, I fail bad at hand drawing, but when I open up paint, stuff like this happens. Thanks for the help. I'll continue to work on my skills.

Also, that attempt you had there has some screwed up colors IMO. Try using colors that go more with each other than using insane light green next to dark green. I learned that a long time ago LOL.

Sorry for out-bursting there. I already see what you mean now. It gets better each time I modify it. (I guess I just need to put more time into what I do) Unlocked the topic for now.. Just to get some more opinions.

The issue you have zecco is pillow shading. It's an ugly way to shade and is so 1990s.  Skeme's looks better as his is not as pillow shaded.
EDit: gave a 5 minute take on it.  Probably no better but whatever.

To be honest, That's not really the graphical style I like. My style has a more plain feel to it, and I like that. Just keep in mind, I just quickly edited that to my likings, I think skeme's looks worse than my second attempt, yours most definately, I'll get stuff arranged sooner or later. Honestly, Just give me some time.

Plus, so I can't be disturbed I'm going to lock this.

I think saying you're a C++ programmer is too general. What APIs do you use (DirectX/OpenGL) and which libraries do you have experience in (SDL, libPNG, OpenAL, ect.)?

Also, do you have any examples of work?

I have worked mostly with the SFML libraries for C++, Although those libraries only handle 2D programming, thats what most of you do anyways.

No examples as of yet, as I recently reformatted my PC, Just now getting all my tools all together again. I've only just been practicing before though.

I have a few years experence in programming in general, I've practicly grew up on network programming. I have 2 years experence in MMORPG Server Programming so the server side shouldn't be a problem at all. Really I have faith in myself and my future team that we will succeed at any cost.

- Introduction -
Basic Idea and Language

Hello everyone this is Zecco101 here with a paied project, the plan is to make a Free to Play MMORPG with an option to pay for premium features. What I have in mind is a 2D Sidescroller MMORPG that everyone would like. The main language for the game will be C++. We will decide the libraries as a team.

Game Features


There should be many diffrent classes to choose from at start there should only be around maybe 4 classes. There will be quests galore! Many diffrent options to choose, from quests alone to quests for a full party! Endless possibilitys for your look! Design your character any way you like with your favorite cloving or even hairstyles.
Simple control scheme and the ability to change the controls at will! No leveling cap so you can level up endlessly with one thing slowing you down! The EXP needed to level increases be a certain amount each level!
Well balanced skills for each and every class!
A wide vast world for you to explore!
AND MUCH MORE!

Plot

Will develop as the patches go by! Nothing so see here so move on.
